What non-fiction books would /lit/ recommend for researching and looking into the early stages of the Cold War?

.lmao
On the creative side - /lit/erats, what are your preffered outlining methods when planning novels, comics, etc.? I've been using post-its with scene ideas and arranging them on a timeline, what about you?
>>9628687
I read every worthwhile book since the Greeks. That's first of all! With this comprehensive knowledge of theme, motif, archetypes, etc. I work out what it is I want to communicate. And then decide the conclusion of that something. Now it's a matter of working backwards, or forwards, however, until at least the major plot points are down--all under the guidance of that something I want to communicate. With vague ideas about the protagonist, I begin to write, discovering the characters as I write, and then sure enough I have a novel.
:)
At first I just keep thinking of the general structure of the novel. Since I first came up with the ending of my first two novels, this process was easier. I knew where I was going and had to somehow pave the way, so I just wrote random notes in notebooks. Then I proceeded to arrange these notes and divide the story in chapters, and only then I thought of lots of individual scenes.
ITT: Post the best book by a French writer that you've ever read.
I'll start, pic related
I was going to post this but he wasn't actually French. ;^)

Professional recommendation: You will not be able to do so.
Post underrated patrician authors.

bifo is not his real name, it's just a nickname
It goes it goes it goes GUILLOTIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINE YUH!
Did anyone else read Heroes: Mass Murder and Suicide?
It is one more night.
There is no light when you
Come in to do the things you do
Things that I don’t want to.
I don’t mean to taunt you
To encourage you to touch,
To touch my secret parts.
That makes me feel dirty.
You say I act flirty and that’s why,
But it makes me cry.
I wish you won’t want to play
This awful game again today
That you will go play it
With Mommy.
Maybe she likes it.
I already know I won’t.
Daddy, please don’t.
Horrible trash
hideous, kys skullposting scum
This is a sentence which, purposefully, describes the type of sentence I end up using again and again when I write.
Is it okay? my narration style always devolves into this long-short-long sequence, with some sort of caveat for the first clause in the second. It doesn't seem to get tiring unless you're really looking for it. Should I just do whatever as long as it works?
Inner monologue?
>>9628340
no, retard, you shouldn't. sentences should be designed for maximum impact on the audience.
"imagine, if you will, a thread in which OP is not a faggot"
"imagine a thread without OP's faggotry"
can you tell me the difference between these two sentences?one is not necessarily better than the other

1: Pretentious drivel intended to make the writer and reader feel smarter than they are.
2: Straight to the point. Communicates what is necessary in order to reach maximum understanding of the intended message.
What /lit/ opinion about Clarice Lispector and most specifically to her magnum opus: ''The Hour Of Star''?
She's a SJW of short literature.
Overrated...didn't find the above pic particularly noteworthy nor all that interesting. It's short though -- form your opinion.

>magnum opus
>Hour of the Star
That's her entry level shit, anon. The Passion According to GH is her absolute best.
Looking for audiobook or podcast packs to collect and listen to. Preferrably philosophical like Alan Watts or regarding self improvement

Interesting, will put that on my playlist. Anything else? Maybe any archives?
How do I become as intelligent as Tao Lin?
I'm serious. Dude's a polymath. How the hell do I develop such an extensive intelligence?
>>9628078
>How the hell do I develop such an extensive intelligence?
By lurking in social media, the tool of debilitation of masses. 'Cause it's cool to be dumb, duuuude.
Does Tao still shitpost here?
Tao Lin is the voice of our malfunctioning generation. Get over it plebs
Why isn't there a Bandcamp for short stories?
I'm talking self-uploaded collections of stories that can be bought as a whole or individually, with artist-generated artwork and a means for people to support authors they like and leave small comments if they choose.
Why isn't this a thing?
Amazon does all of these things. Kindle stories have covers designed by the author, are often bundled with other stories by the author, and Amazon allows you to buy and review them.
If you mean a website that does all of those things and also isn't trash, good luck.
>>9628042
Because nobody would buy them.
>>9628042
One of the most appealing things about Bandcamp is that you can go to the artists Bandcamp page and stream the whole (majority of the times). How would that translate with short stories?
What sonnet is your favorite?
serious question, why is this guy such a meme?
I tried to read Living In The End Times and found it utterly impenetrable. I could grasp some of the ideas but the language was just excruciating to decipher.
then I watched some of his talks and found I couldn't understand his speech either!
I am at a loss with this man.

Brainlet isn't harsh enough of a word. Maybe inorganic matter started to use 4chan.
*shniff* here, we see, you know, the best example, of Lacan's point, you know *shniff*, that OP is always a faggot.
