Why isn't there a Bandcamp for short stories?
I'm talking self-uploaded collections of stories that can be bought as a whole or individually, with artist-generated artwork and a means for people to support authors they like and leave small comments if they choose.
Why isn't this a thing?
Amazon does all of these things. Kindle stories have covers designed by the author, are often bundled with other stories by the author, and Amazon allows you to buy and review them.
If you mean a website that does all of those things and also isn't trash, good luck.

Because nobody would buy them.

One of the most appealing things about Bandcamp is that you can go to the artists Bandcamp page and stream the whole (majority of the times). How would that translate with short stories?
Casual amateur literature is not a thing.
If you're not aiming to make the canon, it's not literature.
For the plebosphere you have Amazon.
