So this Rousseau retard really thought that pre-social man was peaceful? What was wrong with him?

>The investigations we may enter into, in treating this subject, must not be considered as historical truths, but only as mere conditional and hypothetical reasonings, rather calculated to explain the nature of things, than to ascertain their actual origin; just like the hypotheses which our physicists daily form respecting the formation of the world.
Literally the first page, you retarded nigger.
>>8713555
Historical or hypothetical it makes no difference. This is not natural man.
>>8713543
Natural man could only posses so much, so necessarily depended more on close cooperation
Is there anything in classic literature that will relieve the need for catharsis that is typically supplied by modern media? Will I ever feel the artery in my neck throb with excitement while in the midst of a well written novel? Before i'm called a pleb, i'm a lover of literature in general, but i do occasionally miss the feeling of cheering on an underdog in a pulp action film, or watching a crude anime with magical forces clashing. I've tried things like Orlando Furioso, but they don't quite cut the mustard. Just curious if anyone shares in this plight, and how they manage. I assume it's just being a little less strict with myself and giving in to the junk food on occasion.
>>8713522
ah well.
Nah literature isnt really for that
Try music
>>8713611
i can't cheer for an underdog in music. i really don't think you understand, but that's okay.
Why did he have to die?

Go back to your containment thread
Because it was easier to get attention through killing off all the characters than by writing well.
>>8713463
To leave a place for more "interesting" characters. Say what you like about GRRM's writing but someone like that would probably get assassinated in irl medieval Europe.
Where do I start with this guy?
Meltdown is a decent overview

>>8713281
The answer is literally on Wikipedia's page on 'W'.
For the lazy:
The sound 'w' (bilabial fricative /β/) used to be represented by the rune 'Wynn', but after the Norman Conquest it was represented as 'UU'. In Latin, the vowel 'u' and the constant 'v' were written as 'v' (just like 'i' and 'j'), only differentiating afterwards. Thus, UU came to look VV as 'w' is a constant and not a vowel.

Is it correct?
Are personnel jumping out of the helicopter or base?

The helicopter
ITT:People who will be remembered for their greatness and thinking skills.

She made huge contributions to philosophy
Nah she didnt
>>8712963
but she objectively disproved the entire intellectual foundation of the left wing just before the counter-culture movement thus permanently nixing any hope of socialism becoming the predominant ideology in the west and the rest of the world, replacing it with the unashamed individualism that would come to characterize boomers and their millenial offspring
What's your opinion on Henry Miller? Just finished Tropic of Capricorn last weekend and I'm quite impressed. Also loved Tropic of Cancer. Is there a future for such impulsive writing? What do you think of his philosophy?
If you liked TOC then I'd certainly recommend you read "Rosy Crucifixion". It's Miller's autobiographical trilogy but you don't need to read the books in order. Nonetheless if I were you I wold still start with 'Sexus' which might also be the first part of the trilogy
>>8713296
Funny, i was just thinking about which of his books to read next as you posted this. I wonder why miller isn't mentioned Lore often on lit

Suicide pact with Steve King when?

What's a plausible scenario for a girl to take off her panties and leave them somewhere intentionally? My manga ero story revolves around them but I can't figure out the details.
They can't be soiled or stolen.
when i sleep
when i take a shower
They became sentient, wanted butter, and wouldn't stop moaning seductively for it.
The only time I'd leave underwear lying around is when I'm showering, and they'd just be on the bathroom floor until I finished. If the person is a slob maybe they just leave their underwear lying around their room or wherever they get dressed. Unless they were drunk and threw their clothes all over for some reason.
>poetry is deep
poetry is the most shallow fluff art in existence. every single one revolves around a cliche: "i am sad" or "i hate thing" or "christian acceptance" or "winter is pretty"
the only deep part is the extremely complicated and complex nuance in the poem, but even that is better described as "difficult" and not "deep"

My dad gave me his Sherlock Holmes collection and I don't want to just shelf it and make him feel bad for not giving it a chance (I hear its also very good).
Is it good? Any /lit/bros read ACDs stories?
>>8712642
yeah they're good and engaging stories
why does everyone ask these questions like reading some shit that isn't top tier is going to make you less smart or something?
nobody is going to judge you for having read sherlock holmes
since it's a series of short stories, how about you start by reading one and seeing if you like it?
>>8712647
yeah man if you read anything that isn't absolutely top tier, unique and groundbreaking literary fiction you are the worst pleb to ever walk the earth, and may as well read young adult fiction for the rest of your days
THE REST OF YOUR DAYS
>>8712642
Why don't you read it and find out, rather than seeking /lit/'s approval on everything you do.
