https://www.fanfiction.net/s/4112682/1/The-Subspace-Emissary-s-Worlds-Conquest
>As of July 2013, this Smash Bros fanfic was 3,548,615 words long. That’s three times longer than Proust, and six times longer than War and Peace.
>Right now it's 4,061,129, which is the longest piece of English literature in history

>What is this?
The goal of this project is to document The Subspace Emmisary's World Conquest, a Super Smash Bros fanfic, and the longest single piece of English literature into an easily digestible format.

>How do I contribute?
Read any chapter of this, and summarize it in a fairly detailed greentext. Contain the greentext in your post and provide a Pastebin mirror.

>How many chapters are there?
Currently, 220. The chapters are somewhat long, so be prepared for a lengthy read!

>For what purpose?
To condense all this autism into one very long, slightly easier to complete greentext.

LIST OF SUMMARIZED CHAPTERS:
None, so far.

Yeah, this has nothing to do with actual, critical thinking. "Numbers" themselves aren't even real. Either all is infinite or all things are one.

Anyone know anything about helena blavatsky? I have a signed copy of one of her books and dont know what to do with it
8 posts and 2 images submitted.

Wow, if that's legit, yes, it could be worth something. Be careful with it. She's a figure of major historical and intellectual interest - she was the founder of the Theosophical Society which was a large current of thought in the European fin de siecle milieu. Attracted a lot of figures and had a wide reach through its aftershocks and breakaways. I think Yeats was very briefly a member, to give an example. Guenon was a breakaway, as were Anthroposophy and Perennialism to certain extents. There would be a lot of people interested in Blavatsky material and I don't doubt there's both academic scholarship on her and "amateur esoteric" collectors out there.

Yes, jesus christ OP.
She's one of the most important figures in the so called New Age movement. The nearest Theosophical Society will be highly interested.

Keep in mind that Don Quijote is still a much better book than Ulysses.

The complexity of Ulysses, by the way, is fake complexity. If you want real complexity, learn a new language, become a polyglot. Now that is something that takes *actual work*, so I am pretty sure most people on this board will not do it, or most anglophones at least.
>>
>>9390703
Ulysses is fake complexity? do expound on that sentiment, if you would.

Old boring white guy. I'd prefer to read from the narratives and performative constructions of Texan slaves or the Latinx community in America. American history isn't only about white people. Learn to listen to marginal, marginalized, indeed people from the interstices of identities, communities, and modalities, libidinal, social, environmental, spiritual; quit othering THESE parts of American culture and history!

I want to write a dystopian evil empire, but I don't want to put any effort into it or its inner workings, or have any reason for it existing or being evil in the first place

That said, they're a lot funner than Nazis. If you want an evil Emperor, make it a batshit Roman. If you want an evil Empire, Nazis.

i love that book. have you read catch-22?
also, i'd suggest don quixote, but read it as though it were serious. you might try some russian literature, like crime and punishment. oh, and definitely check out some dickens, like little dorrit or david copperfield.

What's the key to successful story telling?

I've got a friend that is writing a cartoon that I'm going to animate, but I fear that his writing style is too weak to accommodate a story.

There's no linear train of thought (I want to tell this kind of story to people, so I'll craft it around this idea).

There's no consideration to an audience.

He visualizes a scene, and then he writes about it. It seems problematic and weak. It's like smoke and mirrors, and I fear it's reflected in his work.

I can't say we'll ever get a good story out of a thought process like that.

I understand writing is a skill like drawing is a skill, but is there a right way to write fictional stories?

I can only say I know that there's certainly a right and wrong way to create functional, believable recreations of reality when it comes to art.

*Smoke and Sound

I believe he has the brain to create great works of fiction, but he doesn't think critically in the right manner about what he's creating.

I read his work, and it's very far from Stephen King.

I understand that visualization is an important part of writing, but I can't believe that it's everything.

I worry about the kind of cartoon we'll be making if I'm adapting something that can't stand on its own as a written work. I worry about pouring hours upon hours in-betweening something that will ultimately fall on its face due to a bad foundation.

The prose.

redpill me on balzac. what does he write like? who does he write like? what were his major themes/ideas/techniques

snide comments telling me to read him myself need not apply - i am asking lit not by chance but because i know they (you) can give it to me straight, intelligent, and in a way i understand
