So, given that many organizations and groups now use the term "gender" to refer to identity, let's discuss gender. How many genders do you think there are? Why?
Personally, I believe that there are only three genders: males, females, and those who possess masculine and feminine traits. Humans are often defined by submissive and dominant traits (see introvert v extrovert, judging v perceiving, etc. are good examples of humanity's split system), thus making it a polar system of gender, except for in cases of a mix between these two poles.
I'd love to hear everyone's opinions and thoughts on identity. Let's get this thread rolling!

when it comes to terminology for gender identification, there should only be 3 terms, for simplicity and sanity.

2) male
3) gender queer / non binary

Is social dys a good enough reason to HRT? I have never related to cis men on any level socially, favoring discussions about science and music as opposed to ones about beer and sex stories. Cis females are often surprised but relieved when I'm capable of not being a hound and actually have a personality that doesn't revolve around Jack Daniels or acting like Kevin James.
I fear men on a visceral level and prefer the company of females, even platonically over that of men.
I've really always felt like a black sheep due to my disinterest in sports, beer culture, being a man slut, and general bro behavior.
A majority of my dys comes from ^^^ but some also comes from being hairy as sin, not having hips, and feeling like if I'm not having sex or focusing on sex I'm a failure as a man. My penis causes me very little dys aside from the fact that it isn't a vagina.
Considering a majority of my dys revolves around non sexual aspects could it be safe to say it isn't a fetish?

Anyways your reasons are legitimate, if having a manly body bothers you then you most definitely will not be happy when you grow older, talk with a therapist who specializes on gender issues if you're unsure, but if you want to just jump right into it you can try out HRT.
I just hope you understand you're hanging out with the wrong guys, my circle of friends are a split between guys and girls and they're all great.

There are people who get upset if they're not out having fun with their friends every single fucking friday. Here I am, 21, kissless, boyfriendless, I fucking hate humanity. Yet, I see people who have the gall to say "I haven't had a boyfriend in 3 months". Bullshit. These people know that they just want to say whatever they want, because they like sounding like they have a really good life. It's the same thing with people who say that they wish they could gain weight. It's like they don't respect the struggle that some people have to go to to stay thin, or the struggle that some people have to go to with loneliness and depression every single day.
I may be thin, but am absolutely desperate to make some friends and have a boyfriend. The reason I am always posting on forums, is because I am desperate to talk to someone. My mom just told me today that she is pissed off at me that all I do is complain about people on these forums to her, then I tell her well you know what, I want to know how you would feel if you were so desperate to just talk to someone. I've been on okcupid for like 8 months, no luck. I am so fucking socially isolated, I haven't had a fucking irl CONTACT, not friend, but no one to even fucking contact who's my own age, in the past 3 fucking years. I had some people I tried to talk to on facebook, but they were unresponsive and unfriendly. I just deleted all of them months ago.

Hey there /lgbt/, MtF trans here. I want some advice on my dad.
The problem I'm having with him is that even though I've mostly transitioned, and present as a girl 24/7 now, he still calls me "he/him/his", still calls me by my old name, and still calls me his son.
When I was 9 years old I started getting depressed and acting out. He sent me to a therapist, and by 11 years old the therapist was sure I was trans. When I decided to tell my parents, the therapist had them all come in for a group meeting. Mom was in tears, dad simply looked at him and said " so what do we do? He needs hormones right? " .
Dad didn't feel comfortable medicating a child, so he had me put on blockers until I turned 16 and could choose for myself. I'm 22 now, I've almost completely transitioned, and he still won't acknowledge me.
Conversations about it go like this:
