Looking to get a reproduction of a 1750 British Sea service pistol.

Found a site that ships that without "vent holes drilled", maybe them not operable.

Is this something easy to fix? Anybody know of a site where they are operable?

You just need to get a gunsmith to drill the vent hole. They ship that way because they come from syrupland and this way they can ship it as not a weapon.

is there a good way to survive SHTF in europe, specificly germany?

should i rather try to prepare with the stuff you can legally aquire here or better try to obtain a proper gun and be far better off than most people here through this?
>>
>>34224698
When it comes to Europe, and prepping in general actually, having a weapon isn't too priority.

Now some people will sperg out and say "huh you gonna die" blah blah. But the fact is if you don't have the rest of your kit and a solid plan in place then you are still going to be up shits Creek.

Best thing I can advise is look around you, see what threats (potential threats) could impact your area and plan accordingly.

For example: worried about social unrest, live in the city, have a friend/family that lives out in rural areas (or even own a property yourself which is best), work out a plan on how to get there by vehicle, by bike, and on foot. Assess what kit you need, what you can store there already, what you'll need to bring.

And there, you have the groundwork laid for a plan from there you can tweak and change things to the ever fluid situation around you.
>>
>>34224792
You can use something like this to assess threats to yourself and your surroundings, simply update it as you see fit.

So I'm going to the range for the first time tomorrow with my brand spanking new Rock Island Armory 1911 and some Tula .45 APC and I wanted to know how do I curve a bullet? I don't want to seem like a total n00b and figured the best way to accomplish that is to just get there and start curving bullets?
Judging from my research you start with your hand kinda down behind your butt and bring it up like you would when doing the breast stroke? How am I doin?

how much of the back of an rpg tube could you cut off before it becomes unusable? and what would happen if you cut off to just before the rpg rocket insert?

>how much of the back of an rpg tube could you cut off before it becomes unusable?
Not terribly much. They're rather bare bones already.
>and what would happen if you cut off to just before the rpg rocket insert?
Backblast becomes sideblast.

Such a waste of repeating digits.
>>
The rocket is ejected from the tube with a powder charge and the rocket is only then ignited, so if you cut the tube too much, you hear (severely wound yourself in) a loud bang and subsequently catch on fire from the rocket engine going off next to your head, as there was no pressure developed which would propel the rocket away from you before ignition.

I know this is old and might be considered a bit /pol/ related but back around 2011, the army here bought about 5-10 javelin missiles as well as 5 CLU'S from the US, At 70k each its committed purchase considering we realistically only have a defense force that's been drafted into peace keeping missions. Skip ahead three years, we're in UN peace keeping missions in God knows where, but with a devistating twist; our own government told them they can't use the weapons for the very purpose they were bought for against islamic extremists operating in birds nests and make shift armoured vehicles....

http://www.independent.ie/irish-news/news/missile-arms-refused-to-irish-troops-in-line-of-fire-30602902.html

What does /k/ think , have we wasted our money?
3 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
Well if the government didn't hate us, and weren't so fucking retarded when it comes to military spending, Id say no, we haven't wasted money because we need to modernise our army, but if we continue to be barred from using them, them whats the point? If you want to see another example of our retarded military budget, look at the gear their getting us, they had to remove the little pockets on our shirts and smock to save money because they weren't given a decent budget to update our gear...
>>
Well, they aren't a waste if the Irish military uses the units it has to keep its troops trained in their use. It means that at relatively short notice they can acquire and deploy the system in larger numbers without needing to bring in training and logistical know-how as they would from square 0. The Javelin system has been used extensively in Afghanistan as an anti-sniper precision strike weapon (it's expensive, but cheaper than ordering in an air strike), so the Irish peacekeepers, who lack any air support could probably do with Javelin in the Golan for that role at a minimum.

beretta-92fs.jpg

So I've had a beautiful Italian Beretta 92fs for about 3 years and love it. Most reliable, well made firearm I own. But I'm thinking, where do I go from here? I want a slightly better, maybe lighter and smaller. Also looking at possibly going to .45 acp for home defense from 9mm. Already have a 1911, but don't really know about it because of only 8+1 or an iffy 10+1. Any thoughts?

>>
With modern +P and +P+ JHPs, and engineering favoritism focusing on the 9mm, .45 barely has an edge on 9mm in terminal performance, and the capacity drop generally will handicap a .45. When it comes to reliable feeding of such rounds, the 92 is about as good as it gets. So a lot is left to preference. 10mm is one of the only rounds that really exceeds the defensive semi-auto handgun parameters, but with bullet design revolving around the 9mm's common spectrum of energy and velocity, I think you'll find most hot 10s having jacket separation, etc. Unfortunately, most of the new ground-breaking types of projectiles are only gelatin tested and gel only accurately represents skeletomuscular tissue.
>>
>>34223707
If you're getting a gun for home defense I'd highly advise against handguns. For home defense, get a rifle or a shotgun preferably semi-auto.

I shot 2-3 matches a month until last year when travel for work picked up.

>USPSA
Run and gun with a big emphasis on movement. Relatively gear heavy (belt, mag pouches, mags) especially if you get out of the production division.

>IDPA
Wear a cover garment and shoot from "cover". Have some pedantic rules on reloading. In general less of a gear race than IDPA.

>Steel Challenge
I love shooting steel, but there are eight set stages which get repetitive.

>GSSF
Requires a Glock. Sort of like USPSA but you are stationary and I don't remember ever reloading.

>ICORE
If your tastes favor revolvers.

I'm not wild about the rule changes IDPA made a couple years ago, so I've mostly been shooting USPSA and "outlaw steel" (think USPSA with all steel targets) when time allows.
>>
>>34224096
Is there a league with rules that favor both having to move your ass while also favoring shooting from behind cover?
