If you give it a proper cleaning and maybe refinish it might be ok. Hard to tell without in in front of me.

I can get a ump 45 parts kit cheap with everything. The reciver was clean cut in three with a band saw, how hard would it be to put back together? Yes I know the laws and what to do.

Hey /K, I have a particularly odd question for you guys concerning the integrity of the United States Armed Forces. Seeing as a service member is the medium for warfare, I would imagine that many former military members are present on this board and can cull my curiosity. Why exactly do recruiters not get reprimanded for instructing recruits to lie in MEPS? I understand that it's your name on the paperwork, not theirs, but they are essentially fucking people that just want to serve their country honorably and having them risk a court martial, all so they can continue recruiting and earning a paycheck. Additionally, if they told a recruit to lie, and that recruit got chosen for a higher security clearance, you waive HIPAA with that right, so any wanna be SEALs or Delta Airborne Rangers, etc. are fucked, so long as their medical records contain that information that doesn't follow up with your MEPS information. My recruiter told me to lie, and I feel terrified by the consequences, so my final question is would any recruits that lie and apply for a higher security clearance "get away with it"? And if one of my friends already lied and wanted to fix it, how does he do it? Obviously his recruiter is going to be a dick to him and say "no it's too late they'll fine you if you cough it up now" just to maintain his numbers. Pls hlp

Recruiter let a kid in falsifying a highschool diploma. Recruiter got busted down in rank and denied chance of reenlistment.

The kid just got a warning, an article 11 or whatever, wasn't even NJPd and was allowed to finish his enlistment.

I according to my friend live in a liberal echo chamber that is known as Massachusetts. He is from Florida. I have never shot a gun but would really want to. However, it seems like there are no gun ranges around where I live and no one seems to know what to do in order to get licensed for a weapon.

Some have told me "You gotta talk to the police department and state a GOOD reason why you need a gun." That doesn't sound right.

I honestly am not to concerned about owning one. I just want to be able to go to a range, pay a fee and shoot guns. Thats it. Why is that so hard in this state?

Apparently the smith and wesson range around here use to let regular people come in and shoot. Then there was this incident where a guy went to the range for like a whole year, learned to shoot a particular pistol really well, went out and acquired a pistol of the same model and shot and killed a bunch of people he had a grudge with. The range no longer lets non-employees shoot there.

FUCK!

Fuck this state!

Can I get a decent Mauser that will last for a long time and shoot accurate for ~$500 or less? I'm not looking for matching parts or historical value. Just want something that works. What's the most common ammo chambering for Mausers? How important is chrome lining?

Pic related is 95 years old and does 2MOA or better with surplus ammo. It cost me $190. Can it last another 95? IDK, but there are plenty of fully-functional rifles from the mid-19th Century still around, and this one's metallurgy is indubitably superior.
>What's the most common ammo chambering for Mausers?
Most common smokeless chambering by manufacture is 8x57mm, then probably 7x57mm, then 7.65x53mm, then 6.5x55.
>How important is chrome lining?
Not. The only bolt-action service rifle to ever have a chrome-lined barrel was the Arisaka T99.

I am going to start the paper work to get the only gun license that my state offers. It allows me to have a gun in the house but I can not carry it on me. I may take the gun to a shooting range by transporting it on the trunk of a car. and keeping it in a gun case. unloaded.

So it will basically be a gun for shooting paper targets and tin cans. what do you guys recommend I buy? price limit is under 900 dollars.

Hello /k/ommandos, quick question. Friend is offering to sell me a canik TP9SF in desert tan, less than 100 rounds through it. I'm interested, but wondered a few things. First, is it a good pistol or should I stay away from it? And second, what do you think a fair price is?

>>34234161
It is a good pistol. Don't let those mongoloids tell you that it's shit because of it's country of origin. For the SF used, I would try to keep it in the ballpark of 300. Don't go much over because you could just buy a new one.

Can 308 accelerator with a saboted m855 defeat level IV ceramic armor say out to 100 yards? I've been looking looking all morning and can't find info.

>>
>>34234148
Probably not M855. M855A1 would have a better chance. However, I don't think the penetrating power 5.56 has against steel applies to ceramics. 5.56 is so great at defeating steel body armor because it moves extremely fast. When it hits steel it dumps so much energy into the steel in a short amount of time in such a tiny area that the internal structure of the steel fails before the bullet finishes decelerating and before the steel has time to dissipate the energy. This causes a circular slug of steel to pop right out the back of the plate along with the rest of the bullet. When you add steel penetrators it enhances this effect. Steel armor relies on the compressive, tensile, and elastic strengths of steel to deflect and deform projectiles without the plate breaking.

Ceramics don't rely on elasticity. They use the sheer compressive strength of the material to rapidly deform the projectile and, since the material shatters, all that energy disperses into the dust, and the crate it creates serves only to better catch the projectile. I think the key to defeating ceramics is a combination of speed, mass, terminal stability, and a projectile that doesn't deform easily.

So, just bullshitting here, like a copper jacketed, solid steel 7.62x51 with a large tungsten penetrator. With the tungsten for mass and the steel acting as a sabot for the tungsten.

Or just use a 50bmg.

>>34234798
The Wound Channel would produce a much better test.

He's done a couple of tests on level IV ceramic plates. They handily stopped m193 and some 7.62x39 FMJ and just barely stopped .338 lapua FMJ.

So what's the deal with .223 wylde? Is it as great as people say? I'm building an ar 15 and I keep seeing a lot of interesting opinions on the barrel. It seems to me like it's the barrel that is the best of both worlds. Why wouldn't a barrel like this become the standard for commercial at 15 rifles?

Looking at buying this one https://www.classicfirearms.com/ar15-barrel-223-1189

I have a stainless .223 wylde barrel on one of my ars and the accuracy isn't noticeably better or worse at 250 yards than a normal melonite barrel. If you can find one for the same price as a normal barrel then I would go for it but I wouldn't pay a premium for it. And yes you can shoot 5.56 from .223 wylde.
