Why do militaries still issue handguns, when their role is primarily to serve as a back up for a primary arm?
Why not just arm troops with a PDW similar to a PLR-16 with a wire stock?
>takes the same mags, and ammo as primary
>substantially more powerful than a conventional handgun
>when engineered from the ground up, partially parts compatible
Even though the size is a bit larger than a conventional handgun, it's still compact enough to be handy. Weight wise at 54 ounces it's only twice as heavy as a Glock 17. The weight difference would likely be made up by not having to carry separate handgun mags, or ammo.
Not too much larger than a normal handgun, especially with a flush 10 round magazine.

What can this piece of overpriced trash accomplish that no other existing aircraft in the United States inventory can't already do?

Detect, target and kill enemies in any direction.
So, for the past few months The Islamic State and the Taliban have been warring against each other in East-Afghanistan. They've officially declared war on each other. Can ISIS actually pose a threat to the Taliban though? They're mainly contained in Syria and Iraq, and not just because they're literally surrounded on all sides by sworn enemies (many if not most of which are other extremist groups, it would be ironic if ISIS didn't literally declare war on the whole world, including other terrorists).
Not only do The Taliban have the home advantage, I can't see ISIS being able to mount any sort of meaningful, or even large assault anywhere in Afghanistan. Can they even do anything other than send random, loosely-organized bands of people in that general direction?
>ISIS
>go on a massive scale ethnic cleasing in the Middle East
>purge political and religious oppositing
>take villages but end up blowing everything up when based kurds push them back
>like to pretend they ''build'' but all they do is destroy and anihilate
>Talibans/al-Quaeda/al-Nusra
>shoot and blow up schools, hotels and hospitals regardless of peoples' religion or ethnicities
>were once considered ''god freedom fighters'' for fighing back the Soviets
This can't end good.
I wonder if deadliest warrior will cover this one

My thoughts exactly. You know they don't give a shit about civilian casualties (actually, they do. They give all the shits, because they think that they're doing a good thing when they kill innocent civilians).
Let's have a HANDGUN caliber thread discussion (note - I said discussion, not argument) about the pros and cons vs each other?
Let's first concede that
>10 millimemer is hard to beat, but is still a meme round
>.40 is shit
Lets not
All handguns are underpowered and the real world differences are negligible.
There are many instances of crackheads getting shot in the head with every single caliber and still cracking out
.22lr fired from handguns by far still holds the record for most non military related deaths.

>.22lr fired from handguns by far still holds the record for most non military related deaths.
Due to the sheer number of shots made and the proliferation of the round.
Is such a thing even doable? Would there be any advantages?
I have a few 12 gauge and a 410 shotgun that are bolt action. they're alright. Can't remember what they're called, dad owned them.
>>28650232
The action could possibly be built to more retard-proof standards, might allow for custom shells to be loaded easier?
Aside from that, not much really. Pump action shotguns are already built like a brick shithouse and a decent mossy or remmy can eat anything you put in it.
Sure. They used to be common as mud. Nowdays they're more a niche thing.

Hey guys. So I'm in the navy, and I'm thinking about getting a hand tattoo.
I asked my command and they said I can't do it. But I looked through the tattoo regs and it says nothing about having a hand tattoo.
If anyone can shed some light on this, I'd appreciate it.
>>28649707
>I asked my command and they said I can't do it.
there's your answer unless you want a pay drop
>>28649707
I've spoken to recruiters and I have to get my fingers tattoos removed before I join. I'm gonna guess if your command says don't, then don't. How hard is that?
Shouldn't get tattoos anyways.

Thoughts on Ruger's new entry level AR?
>>28649068
It works.
>>28649145
Is it of any quality?
>>28649193
Yes they are 100% perfect and the best gun ever. You should buy two or three. Maybe more.
Source: work for Ruger. Don't believe a word I say.
But seriously they're fine just buy it and shoot it and get aftermarket stuff for anything you don't like about it. You're better off buying a less expensive first AR and then swapping parts on it after a while than trying to blindly guess at what you want and buying some sort of Picatinny coffee maker handguard or something.

Russia+NK are militarily far more powerful than the USA could ever be, here are some reasons why.
1. Russia+NK have far better infantry than the USA. RPG-29 can penetrate M1A2 Abrams at 875m. The RPK-74 is also much stronger than the M60. Spetsnaz also have RPO and USA has no counter. Metys-M can penetrate M1A2 Abrams from 1575m, Super Dragon might have 1925m but can't penetrate any armor.
2. Russia+NK have far better transports than the USA. BTR-80A, BTR-90, Mi-24D HELLO? Even the Bradley is outmatched by the BMP-3 which can fire its missiles while moving while being amphibious and having 100mm HE gun.
3. Russia+NK has far better AA than the USA. Tunguska-M can shoot down AH-64D Apache Longbow from 3325m but Hellfire only has 2800m range.
4. Russia+NK has far more better tanks than the USA. USA only has M1A2 Abrams. Russia+NK has the same number of T-72BU, T-90S, and T-80UM. That means 3 times has many good tanks. Their tanks also have missiles.
5. Russia+NK has better recon than the USA. Ka-52 can destroy Patriots SAMs from 3500m but Patriot can't even shoot back at Ka-52. BRDM-3 is also more powerful than LAV-25. USA doesn't have BRM-1K or Spetsnaz VMF and GRU.
6.Russia+NK has better helicopters than the USA. Mi-24V shoots down all the worthless Apaches. Ka-50 and Mi-28 destroy all the American tanks.
7.Russia+NK has more better planes than the USA. SU-27PU, SU-27M, SU-27S, YAK-141, and Mig-29M outnumber Americas air force and all have R-77. Il-102, B-5, and SU-25T are all much better than F-117, F-15D, and A-10A.

I have $1000
I will buy a rifle, a shotgun, and a handgun
Give me recommendations
Is that total budget or per firearm?
For $1000?
>rifle
>Hi-Point
>handgun
>Hi-Point
>shotgun
>...does Hi-Point make shotguns?
pick a less expensive hobby
Unless you buy used, you're not getting a rifle pistol and shotgun with that budget. And even then you won't get much. I recommend you save more, so you can get better quality. You get what you pay for in all things, usually.
Tell me /k/, who is the greatest warrior who ever lived? I nominate this smug fucker.
>I must say that during the war I never disobeyed an order, but when General Seidemann ordered Graf and me to fly to the British sector and surrender to avoid the Soviets, with the rest of the wing to surrender to the Soviets, I could not leave my men. That would have been bad leadership.
>>28647534
He also predicted what we all know about the Soviets/Russians
>In his first year of operational service, Hartmann felt a distinct lack of respect towards Soviet pilots. Most Soviet fighters did not even have proper gunsights, their pilots having to draw them on the windscreen by hand. "In the early days, incredible as it may seem, there was no reason for you to feel fear if the Russian fighter was behind you," he later recalled. "With their hand-painted "gunsights" they couldn't pull the lead properly or hit you." Hartmann also considered the P-39, the P-40, and the Hurricane to be inferior to the Fw 190 and Bf 109, although they did provide the Soviets with valuable gunsight technology.
The Russians are orks.
>>28647534
My vote would be for Michael Wittmann. As a former tanker in the US Army, he is my idol. When I was a gunner I kept a photo of him in the gunner's station. He started out in a Stug III proving himself as a good tanker, destroyed many tanks, and anti tank guns (anti tank guns are more difficult to survive and destroy as they are hidden), always took the initiative, proved himself as a leader, and was a true National Socialist 'till the end.
Micheal Wittmann was a great warrior, and surely resides in Valhalla.
simo hayha, aka "white death" i've always been fascinated by his ability to conceal himself, with carlos hathcock coming in close second
