I wasn't planning on buying a /k/ thing but my girlfriend needed to buy a replacement tupperware for her aunt after it snapped while it was holding home made ice cream in our freezer, and the only proper replacement is only sold as an add on item on amazon, so I need something that's /k/ related and around $25.
rail covers
ar15 accu-wedge
snap caps
bore snek
Literally just did the same thing OP.
Got some eyepro and some nitrile gloves.

Can't go wrong with a big ass box of plugs.
So I was searching for a shotgun to add to my collection and ended up comparing the Remington 870 and the Mossberg 500. I did allot of research and what I heard was that if going for new perductuon then the Mossberg was the better choice but if I was going for overall the best pump shotgun, then the old Remington's where the best. Also heard that the Wingmasters where the Catalac of 870's so I ended up getting this 1982 Remington 870 Wingmaster with an 18 inch barrel for $320. Still haven't shot it yet because I had a busy week but am going to shoot it tomorrow. How did I do /k/? Sorry for the potato pic.
Bump, not OP, but I'd like to know what /k/ says.
You did pretty good. 80s era 870s are legit excellent, it'll serve you well, especially since it's a Wingmaster.

>1982
might want to look into replacing the magazine spring
other than that good for you have fun
Is it just me or does it seem like these guns are getting harder to find? When I do find them they're marked up way more then what most would call a"reasonable price".
at some point you'll have to spend the money if you really want one
they won't be getting any cheaper
just lurk armslist everyday
>>29329145
Lurked on gunbroker.com for quite some time, and I felt lucky enough to get a lightly used yugo for <$300. The age of cheap as hell milsurp rifles is coming to an end. This seems to coincide with the recent moist nugget hate, as you just cannot got rifles for <$100 anymore, and you'll be better off getting a savage for slightly more for a much better gun.
>>29329943
I remember when I was in highschool and I'd snatch up the cabelas adds that came in the mail. They had $100 nuggets for a long time. Of course being a minor and living in NJ I could never get my hands on one
>regrets I'll never live down
What does modern self defense pistol doctrine say about lanyards? I had to use one when I was standing quarterdeck watch when I was in the Navy. Should you use a lanyard when OC or CC? Or do modern operators think they aren't high speed?
>>29328120
Seems really useful, just like writing your name on your underwear.
>>29328120
They are okay but useless in any situation where they would be considered a useful item.
Most useful when shooting from horseback is likely. Also possibly useful when shooting from a vehicle. Otherwise I'd think they'd mainly be annoying.
Looking to get a glock 19, what's the major difference from gen 3 to 4, and what advantages does each have over the other?
Bumping for interest
Each generation reduces the chance of spontaneous internal catastrophic failure by %6.

Pakistan is looking to replace its service rifles the G3 and the Type 56.
They're trialling the: Beretta ARX-200, CZ-806 BREN 2, FN SCAR, Kalashnikov AK-103, and Zastava M21.
Which one should they go for?
http://www.defensenews.com/story/defense/land/weapons/2016/03/16/pakistan-seeks-new-service-rifle-upgraded-ordnance-facilities/81882200/
I hope they get the ARX.
>>29327553
Anything cheap which rules out the SCAR.
>>29327629
The SCAR is extremely cheap to manufacture which means they can offer very competitive bids when it comes to buyers of this nature.
Let's talk about the Gewehr 43. I was considering trying to purchase one but am largely unfamiliar with. I don't see it talked about much on here. Tell me the ins and outs of it lads.
>>29326523
put boolits in it
it goes bang when you hit the bang switch
things in front of it die
the more times the bang switch is whacked, the more deader they get
>>29326523
Great and interesting collectible.
Not something you want to shoot and abuse.
>>29326523
If you collect WW2 weapons then it's worth it. As a shooter, well I wouldn't really use it as a range toy but I'd probably shoot it a few times just because. I heard they are pretty fragile compared to the M1s and SVTs.
Why did tank design move away from sponson or multi turreted systems to engage multiple hostile a at the same time?

It's one of the reasons why I love Emerson's so much, even thought they have fallen behind in steel quality/price for a while. They use screws that you can actually tighten with everyday common tools.
What is the reason for these Torx "Star Bits" to make such a huge presence in the knife market?
They designed it so the commies wouldn't be able to disassemble our weapons and steal designs.
I don't know if that's true i just made it up.
>>29325885
A. Most are normal imperial or metric Allan heads
B. If you don't own at least a set of standard torx bits (because you're too poorfag for toed screwdrivers) then you're a failure as a man and need to head to Sears and get your tool chest up to snuff
C. Because they don't strip as easily
>>29325885
Torx are great for automated assembly systems, positive grip and nearly impossible to strip out. If you do strip them out than you did something horribly, horribly wrong.
How do I get hold of military drone batteries? I want to make a hoverboard that lasts for longer than 60 seconds.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L5ii5BWBLVI
I think that guy is using 14 Ah hobby store batteries and the absolute best that I can find on the commercial market is 24 Ah, 22.2 V lithium-polymer batteries on special order from China. I just know the military has some 100 Ah shit, how do I get it?
>>29324054
Let me put it to you like I do the mech fans
>more weight added
>more energy need to make it move
>more space needed for energy
>more weight added
>can you see where this is going
The military designs things to be used for a specific purpose. The batteries you want are designed to fit on small planes, where the battery meets the design requirements. Remember the small planes part? Right, military drones like reapers are huge and...
>your hot pockets are done, go back to Jerking off to cartoons.
>How do I get hold of military drone batteries?
...You mean a gas engine? Go get a weedwhacker off craigslist.
The only batteries the military has that perform significantly better than civilian batteries are the Silver-Zinc batteries that they use in missiles and such, but those aren't rechargeable. Aside from that, they're using the same Li-ion, Ni-Cd and Pb-acid batteries we use for everything.
>>29324054
"Military drone batteries" are essentially a fairly large and expensive UPS. You aren't going to fit that shit on a personal vehicle.
When are you going to ditch your .25 ACP and adopt the powerful .32 ACP? With "a delivery like a brick through a plate glass window."
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P26470lZB_U
Was .25 ACP the 9mm of the old days?
>>29317873
more like the 5.45 of it's day. Ak74 fags be warned
>time when gentlemen would carry guns in their pockets
>>29317873
Yes. Provided you don't know anything about history or firearms it definitely was the 9mm of the day.
Hey /k/, I've seen lots of really bulky guns in fiction like XCOM that are supposed to look futuristic, but could there actually be some merit to this? Specifically, will it be a necessity in the near future to consider the radar cross section or thermal signature of small arms or personal equipment? Could this technology be developed enough that bulky equipment with stealth or radar shielding would be necessary, or is my guess totally inaccurate?
bunp
>>29332047
Bulky weaponry and body armor for stealth just seems impractical desu senpai
>>29332136
You mean that the added bulk wouldn't have a benefit even if it meant increased stealth?
So /k/ i have a pretty dumb question but cant really seem to get a straight answer for.
Why doesnt the U.S. military use supressors regularly for infantry? I mean yeah i know it doesnt make it noiseless but im sure it would help them stay unlocated if they are a good distance away but more than that wouldnt it help prevent soldiers from getting hearing damage?
>>29331662
because earplugs exist
Because usually you have to use special ammo for suppressors that contains a weaker gunpowder charge. Weaker powder means less range, accuracy, speed, and general lethality. You sacrifice all the good parts of your weapon so you can sneak up on the enemy and eliminate them up close where the aforementioned cons don't really matter that much.
>>29331693
What a crock. Subsonics are only to get rid of the crack, using a can with m885 will still bring the sound to earpro-not-needed levels.
I know this is /k/'s least favorite thread, but have a twist:
Looking to get my first, but I have real small hands. Like really small. Small for a woman small. You could get about 4 quarters on my palm.
I would probably defer to something cheap and available like a beretta 9mm (whatever specific model is adopted by police, i know they're cheap in my state) but I've played with them at the range and it's a bit of a fuckin stretch for my hand to grip
Post your hands
