why didn't this go ahead?

It would be just as dangerous to the world than it would be to its intended target.

Unacceptable collateral damage during a time of relative peace.

as much as I wanted it to be real, here's why;
it's fucking massive and launching it would turn the area where it was launched from into a wasteland.
granted in a full nuclear exchange, who gives a fuck, but if it was used tactically;
>destroys everything it comes across
>kills its own crew
>fucking massive so good luck transporting it
>expensive as fuck
>complicated and a bitch to maintain
I would like to see a nuclear ramjet missile today, however. that would be great.

I have a question for you /k/.

I am looking at getting my first rifle and I'm leaning towards the Sig 716 chambered in 7.62 NATO. Im just wondering if anyone has any experience with it and what they think. Im also looking at their 5.56 models. Is there really much difference (other than the obvious) in choosing a 7.62 over 5.56?

>>
>>29336408

The Sig 716 is good. Heavy, but good. I'd still recommend a 5.56 for a first rifle, not an AR-10. AR-15s are more easily modified, easier to find mags, ammo is cheaper, etc.

I'd consider firing a buddy's rifles so you can so which you prefer but to be honest you'll likely end up with firearms in both cartridges eventually so don't sweat it
>>

Holy fuck your picture

AR newfag here, never even really thought of owning, let alone building, an AR until about 3 days ago when I got to shoot my buddy's BCM FDE 14.5" RECCE and became very jelly.

I don't want to spend $1800 on the rifle and optic as he has, plus I'd like my AR to be very much on the lighter end of the spectrum. I spent a couple of hours doing research yesterday and thought I'd run it by some /k/ommandos and make sure I'm not being totally retarded. I'm going with a polymer lower for the first iteration of the rifle, so... just brace yourselves for that.

NFA LW-15 Complete Polymer Lower $110
BCM Blemish Upper $80
Spike's Tactical Posphate BCG $140
Spike's Tactical Forged Charging Handle $23
Faxon 14.5" Pencil Profile Mid Barrel $170
PRI Gas Block with Single Pic Rail $67
AR Pros (Amazon) "New Gen" Muzzle Brake $25
Spike's Tactical Melonite Mid Gas Tube $16
MAGPUL MOE M-LOCK MID Handguard $35
MAGPUL MBUS Flip Sight Set $98
Primary Arms MD-ADS Red Dot $170

So that's $934 all in all. I'll likely replace the pistol grip with a Magpul MOE model later down the road, and maybe replace the stock with a BCM Gunfighter. Also considering the JP Silent Captured Buffer Spring doohicky, but that's farther down the road. Like I said, never even thought about building an AR before, so do I need to pick up any additional hardware packages or anything? Like to mount the barrel to the upper? Anywho, thanks in advance for telling my why I'm dumb for going for the polymer lower. Please feel free to criticize the rest of it too!

Yeah, I know. I saw NFA's torture test videos and my fears were largely assuaged. Also, their poly trigger group is very well reviewed.

Once again, I did my annual qualification last night and this morning. The old tired media meme that "only the police are qualified to have guns" is first, a bunch of horseshit and second it's just plain wrong.

My annual course of fire is a total joke. No movement, single target, shooting directly in front of the target. The closest shot is 3 yard, the longest is 25 yards. Much to my amazement, everyone passed on the first try. The fun started after we finished and I pulled out my shot timer to help burn off some ammo and time. Some of these guys could not get out of the holster and get a shot on target within 3 seconds. Shit, the Tueller drill is based on 1.5 seconds and 7 yard - yet most children of the hood can cover 10 yards in 1.5 seconds. Others could not follow simple instructions. Most of these guys are good for the first shot and that's it. Reloads, fumbled. Follow up shots, slow.

How many times do those guys actually manage to get to a range in a given year?

There's your problem. Invite them out. Stop being so elitist.
>>
>>29336087
I have, many many many many many times - including today where I listed the regular IDPA matches within a hour of where we shot. Does that sound elitist? Here are the answer I get.
>Is it free? No, I'm out
>It's on a Saturday? No thanks
>That's too far to go (yeah, cause 20 mile up the turnpike is really far in that new Tahoe you're driving)
>I got bad knees
>Is it outdoors? No, too cold.

Most of them only shoot once an year when it's qualification time.

Stun guns are now covered under the second amendment.

In case you haven't heard.
>be a woman living in Mass
>get accused of shop lifting
>cops find stun gun in your purse that you keep so you won't get murder raped by your ex
>Mass lawyers and judges literally use >muh muskets as an argument saying that stun guns didn't exist in the 1790s so they aren't second amendment
>SCOTUS unanimously decides that every lawyer and government official in the entire state of Mass is a fucking retard.
>Musket fags BTFO SCOTUS, all 8 of them, say musket argument is retarded
>women can now carry stun guns

So here is the scoop: (simplified a bit)
In 2011 a woman in MA used a stun gun to defend herself from an abusive boyfriend. She was arrested and charged with possessing a stun gun. The case went the MA Supreme Court, where they ruled that stun guns are not protected under the 2nd amendment, as they did not exist at the time of the writing of the constitution.

Fast forward to today, and the Federal Supreme Court has ruled that the MA Court dun goofed and should reconsider their ruling - as in, they need to pick a different argument for their own ruling, which can be then appealed as well.
Read here: http://www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/15pdf/14-10078_aplc.pdf

This is a unanimous but unsigned decision by the SCOTUS, but Alito did share some interesting words (even thought they are unbinding): he says that:
-almost all weapons are dangerous, so the "dangerous and unusual" phrase is bogus
-weapons do not have to be used in war to be protected under the 2nd (so the SBS issue that plagued Heller is bogus)
-The individual right to bear arms prevents tyranny etc etc etc
-phased plasma rifles in the 40 watt range will be protected if they are invented; the advance of technology goes along with what is defined as an "arm"

In all, the unanimous and highly pro-gun nature of this ruling, even though it doesn't change anything this instant, opens a broad path towards removing the NFA, GCA, Hughes, etc.

Moreover, the lawyer in Hollis v Lynch will likely use this ruling in his arguments to great effect.

To conclude, this ruling will be very important in the near future as various gun related issues work their way up to the higher courts. So please take a minute of your time and read the ruling - we should all be informed when it comes to these matters.

A friend of mine was arrested but not convicted for a non violent felony. He was never incarcerated but he went through a certification program that removed the felony from his record. Does he still have the capability to own a gun?

But he's still a dumb ass who committed a felony.

I really don't suggest you tell him where all your guns are. His drug use will only increase and soon he'll be robbing your house while you're at work or school.

I'm gonna get my first handgun soon, should I get a striker or a hammer fire pistol? What are the benefits to both? Disadvantages?

>>
>>29333176
Get something with a hammer, or a Kahr. Many would argue the striker-fired pistols' simpler manual of arms and lighter, more consistent triggers make them better beginner guns, but it also makes them less forgiving of poor handling practices...particularly relevant for a newbie buying a carry gun. Hammer-fired guns are generally a bit safer in this way, and at least have the possibility of having superior triggers - a lighter/shorter pull doesn't always mean "better".

So, I'm looking for a rail system for my ak. I find side rails fugly, but will settle for one if need be. was looking at something similar to whats in my pic, but idk if they suck or they are for tacticool noobs.

any input?

Your AK already has a rail system most likely. Just buy products that fit it.

Unless you were planning on putting western optics on a Russian firearm, in which case you are the worst kind of person.

RS Regulate side rail.

theres a couple that are just dust covers with rails already on them. that seems to be the best way to go if you don't wanna use a side rail.

So it looks like Japan had 32 divisions of infantry, 14 cadre divisions, and a further million of fresh conscripts of which about half had rifles. Their air force was reduced to 4000 kamikazes. This force was stretched out all along the two southern islands, with no way to move units except by foot. They had no artillery, a few mortars.
Against this opposition, the US planned to land 60 divisions, and even its infantry divisions had a tank battalion attached.
Would this have been the most lopsided slaughter humanity ever witnessed?

the question is "how many men on our side would have died?"
those crazy fucks on both iwo and okinawa more or less died to the last and inflicted a high toll on american forces. roughly a fifth of US forces were killed or injured so you can expect to have at least a few whole divisions as casualties if downfall were to come to be

Police arrested me. I got drunk on tequila and shot up my neighbor's private property. I pulled up in my truck, stepped out then unloaded on his "beware of dog" sign. He had the worst dog in the world - always barking, keeping the kids awake. I then drove to my church's parking lot and smoked a cigar. Cops showed up, ordered me out of the cab, directed me to lay face forward on the ground then kicked and punched and beat the holy fuck out of me. Detroit Police are not friendly.

So now I'm not allowed to own guns.

Is full-scale war between large countries obsolete? Ever since the 1990s we haven't had wars where conscription was deemed necessary by the major powers to fight a war. Considering the economic interdependence that America, Europe, Russia and China have with eachother, why would they ever declare war against each other?

>Is full-scale war between large countries obsolete?
No.

>Ever since the 1990s we haven't had wars where conscription was deemed necessary by the major powers to fight a war.
Good thing, too.

>Considering the economic interdependence that America, Europe, Russia and China have with eachother, why would they ever declare war against each other?
You're really short-sighted if you don't think any of those countries could find a reason to go to war with each other.

If I had to guess though, it will probably be similar to a WWI situations where a couple of smaller nations start shit, then the larger countries get pulled into the conflict because of treaties.
>>
War is never obsolete, it just isn't the preferred method right now to handle international disputes.
People are still used to the Cold War method of indirect economic warfare and would rather write letters and force trade embargoes over shooting people.
