Libtard gun owner here. I'm following a thread on PoliticalForum.com and it occured to me that I do not know the history of the 2a, i.e. how it came to be, and for what reasons. I'm looking for a non-partisan explanation, preferably in book form, and preferably written by an academic who actually knows his shit. Any suggestions?
Pic is my newly built AR. Just got the head space checked and I'm good to go...

It was during the period immediately after the American Revolution. The Founding Fathers saw how important the local militias had been in the opening conflicts with British forces, and they realized that this would not have been possible without individually-owned arms. They also understood that any citizenry has the right to resist tyranny, with force if need be, and access to firearms is an excellent way to enable an insurgency against a militarized force.
President George Washington:
"The devising and establishing of a well regulated militia, would be a genuine source of legislative honor... carrying to its full energy the power of organizing, arming, and disciplining the militia; and thus providing, in the language of the constitution, for calling them forth to execute the laws of the union, suppress insurrections, and repel invasions." (Address to Congress, November 19, 1794)
I want to move to America just because I want my own gun, you guys are so lucky.

You poor Aussie bastards are definitely in a "nanny state". You also have some of the most fucked up motorcycle laws and gear restrictions. No tinted visors? Seriously? It's like you guys live in an giant New York, for fuck's sake.

Women are on general principle much physically weaker then men. There is no denying that. But let's say that power armor, for whatever reason, is now a practical, reliable suit of body armor (or just an IOTV that is powered) that has a battery that lasts, let's say, two weeks.
Assuming the army does choose to buy/produce this, would that solve some of the problems of physical fitness and health for women in the army?
Also, on a side note, would power armor be treated like body armor for women in that it has to be adjusted for her?
Second side note, would it be practical to have a piss bag while in a suit of armor? Or should we avoid making it that restrictive?

>Assuming the army does choose to buy/produce this, would that solve some of the problems of physical fitness and health for women in the army?
It would probably relieve the amount of weight a woman would have to carry on the field, if that's what you're asking.
>Also, on a side note, would power armor be treated like body armor for women in that it has to be adjusted for her?
Probably, if it's anything like an IOTV
>Second side note, would it be practical to have a piss bag while in a suit of armor? Or should we avoid making it that restrictive?
Depends, is the armor like an IOTV or nigh short of Fallout? If it's like an IOTV, just piss like a normal person.

Women will become as effective as men (purely in combat) when we get one of two technological advances:
1. Reliable powered armor good enough to make body strength irrelevant.
2. Prosthetics cool enough to justify chopping off your weak fleshy bits.
No word yet as to overcoming millennia of evolutionary conditioning that makes them less socially cooperated and less able to work in the hierarchical social system endemic to military life.
Also, no word on how to successfully condition all military age males to treat women as "just another man" and whether this is in fact a good idea.
>>29505507
You still don't want a soldier that would have to rely on a power suit to be effective or one that has a higher risk of injury than men
You can't just put a butt stock on a pistol, can you?
I think that's what this guy did, and the cops didn't seem to mind.

>>29505476
That's an "arm brace" by the ATF, it's not technically a stock, so it's OK to put on pistols without having to get your form 1 for SBRs.

anyone have a similar picture with a 14.5" barrel?
heck of a shotgun
>Is the .40S&W still a viable caliber?
>Will its popularity/availability increase, or decrease, or stay the same in the next 10 years?
>>29505235
It is yes. There is nothing inherently wrong with the cartridge, just that 9mm is better in most respects
And while people are moving back to 9, so many people and organizations adopted it that it'll be popular for a long time yet
>>29505235
>9mm does everything it can with higher capacity
>it will go the way of .38Super
10mm
>but the ammo is too expensive!

US4CES.
No, I'm not joking. It's made by the same autistic Canadian that designed the camo the ANA uses.
>>29504587
As >>29504671 said.
It was part of the US Army Camo replacement fiasco from a couple years ago. Since it wasn't adopted by the US, Guy Cramer sold the rights to the Mexicans who use it now. He made a civvy version that was less optimized for IR devices also.

I'm influenced by anime /k/ and would like a Type 14 Nambu.
Can anyone tell me what I should look for? Which ones are more desirable? How is the ammo situation? (I realize I'm not going to get it at Big 5, but is it snowflake ammo?)
