Traps are gay
isn't that just fucking obvious, sunshine
I need critique and rating
, also, and more important for me, someone told me it was wrong, but my eye can't see the errors, this happens always and like a month forward from doing the portrait it looks wrong to me, that means my eye can't see the flaws in this drawing? This is a portrait I just did, so I can't see anything
it's sideways
>>2925045
This.
Its not rotated.
Have you made it yet, /ic/?
>>2924983
samura is so underrated, one of my favorite artists by far
>>2925078
Being gurofag practically outs you automatically from society, it's actually kind of a wonder that he is still so profilic.
So /ic/, I avoid getting too deep into learning the technique of drawing realistically for fear of not being able to stylize and then find myself in the deepest part of an uncanny valley when I try, any tips on what to do? Has anyone ever experienced this?
You're an imbecile.
>>2923844
That's retarded, studying realism and your fundies will only make you better artists.
Pic related, Yoshinari.
Of course you should always practice stylization, if that's your goal, too many artist here just do Loomis head and then complain that they can't draw qt lolis. But there are artists out there that draw anime figures with no sense of form or any understanding of the human body.
You need a healthy balance. Both skills are needed to draw anime competently.
Or, are you talking about when those tumblr tier anime artists try to do that weird mix mash "anime realism" style?
>>2923872
I was talking about the first thing you said, thanks for the help.
How would you tell the age of a character from their picture alone?
What is a method of telling a characters age when the design is too vague in appearance?
>>2923145
More defined small features of a head (and body in general) indicate more masculine figure. They are also usually more "boxy".
If it comes to age, just look at all the 3D films, Disney cartoons and the like. There are head shapes that are similar to baby head, big eyes are also big indicator. Cheeks too.
Hanging skin/fat, blobby shapes with lots of shadows/creases, skin like fabric - that's venerable age.
Also generally eyes are very dramatic. It all depends on how much you simplify or idealize their structure.
More questions?
>>2923150
Then how old would you consider this character?
Large pupil's make the character look younger, small ones older. also large eyes relative to the face makes a character young.
Figure might test out this roll thing.
Also, post results in relation to roll outcome.
this should be the new sticky

erasing ruinins my drawing.
How the fuck do people correct charcoal drawings?
using kneaded eraser btw on heavy paper.
I don't personally use charcoal all that much but I think you're supposed to use those malleable grey erasers
>>2922506
Literally me
I want to get better at traditional mediums too, but it's so fucking hard to clear up residue if you go full potato and press to hard
>>2922506
Some kneaded erasers are terrible so maybe try buying a different brand, also vine charcoal is generally much softer than even the softest compressed charcoal so try that
Anyone good with photoshop? I need help, whenever I draw, photoshop makes the brushstrokes to the left of wherever im actually drawing. It's only in photoshop too, my brush works fine in SAI

Hey guys. For many years now I've been drawing and painting without focusing on learning any technical skills, but I think it might be worth some effort if I think I'll actually be able to draw/paint something interesting. So, please, rate my motives (: I'll dump my best.
Any good resources on drawing vehicles like tanks and planes?
I know its mostly just boxes and squares but a book some kind would be helpful.
>>2924593
Scott Robertson's How To Draw is probably what youre looking for. It should be in the book thead.
>>2924605
thanks ill check that out
Does anyone have reference on this kind of hand pose? I have no idea what it's even called and my google skills seem to have failed hard.

Is this tablet shitty? And if so, if I'm good enough at traditional will the poor quality of it even matter? Asking because I'm a poor college student, and this is all I've got.
I dont know about that tablet but if you need a new one that is not expensive check out the huion h610 pro its probably the best pad tablet out there and cheaper than wacom.
i have a bamboo fun
>>2923868
I use one. It's great with Krita. The pressure sensitivity doesn't work with Photoshop though (anyone else got this problem) but I hate drawing in Photoshop anyways.
