How have various societies dealt with the universal experience of pooping?
I've been thinking about this lately. I was prompted by the common joke of "women don't poop", which is essentially poking fun at ideas of feminine purity by contrasting it with the silly notion that they do not, in fact, poop which is viewed as an inherently vulgar, gross, whatever you want to call it, act. Consider also the joke from The Interview about Kim Jong Un which says that, because he runs at maximum efficiency, he does not poop and his butthole is "purely decorative". A necessity of the deification and purification of the Supreme Leader is to deny such vulgar acts. It's even used later in the film when Kim Jong Un poops himself on television, which signals the humanizing of the man, showing him as a mere equal to the people.
So I want to know about previous ages and their own experiences with this. Have they viewed pooping not as a base act? Has it been merely mocked? Etc.

Hah that is super interesting. Use of it as fertilizer is a particularly interesting element, especially nowadays. I am not super familiar with previous uses of fecal matter, hence making this thread. However I have noticed we are very much so impractical in our use of shit, not even using human waste as fertilizer but merely as waste. Something to be disposed of, not just another tool which is especially weird in an age that often emphasizes recycling and reusing.
When did Islamism replace Arab nationalism as a credible ideology of muslim resistance?
Yeah, I know about defeats of Arab coalitions by Israel, fall of the USSR, Saudi petrodollars, Mujahideen victory in Afghanistan etc. but was there some watershed moment?

Sassanians and Romans sometimes collaborated to fight against the nomads of the North. In fact, sources tell us how at least one of the causes of war between both empires could be disagreement on this matter.
With the death of Khosraw II, the end of the last war and the rise of the Rashidun Caliphate, persians and romans had now another common enemy. Yet in the few battles of muslim expansion I've heard about the arabs fight either persians or romans, not both. Did the two empires try to collaborate to defeat the arabs? Are there famous battles were both persians and romans fought against the muslim expansion? Did it work or were they defeated too when collaborating?

Some questions to consider:
Was Sumer really the first civilization?
How did the specialization of labor take place? What was early human trade like?
What type of armor and weapons did ancient ancient warriors use?
When did horseback riding begin?
Was anything else going on in the world, or was the middle east the only place civilization was taking place? Surely something was happening in China during this time period.

Sup /his/? I find myself interested in the history of alcohol consumption among Muslims.
Alcohol consumption strikes me as one of the unifying elements of human civilization. From what I understand, virtually every culture and era of history has enjoyed the pleasures of a few drinks. But as we all know, alcohol is forbidden in the Islamic religion. However, I've read a bit about moonshining in contemporary Islamic nations, and of course we should all be well aware that just because something is prohibited by religious doctrine doesn't mean that followers will actually obey.
So if any of you could enlighten me about the presence (or lack thereof) of alcohol in Islamic civilizations throughout history, I would appreciate it.

I don't worship any single pantheon (with polytheism, what's the point of limiting yourself?), but I really like this depiction of Zeus. I prefer my Gods to look a bit more inhuman than most, and I think the image really hammers home the power and majesty of the King of the Gods.
Shango is Patrician tier though, as are most of the Yoruba pantheon.

How numerous were arabs at the time of their expensions ? How did arab tribes living in the desert outnumber the big empire at the time ?
Also if they zerged the middle east i can understand that they would just mix with local and change them into arabs after a few generations, but if they were less numerous than the locals they should be the one to be assimilated

It killed over 50 million inbetween both empires which was a lot since the overall world population was estimated at around 200 million back then by different historians.
Also, Rome and Persia had been fighting each other on and off for almost 700 years which gave them little to no time to rebuild their numbers.
Especially the Sassanids, who didnt use a standing army but trusted border security/warfare to noblelords and their vassals.

I think about 100,000 expanded out of Arabia, newly united.
They became the new upper class elite in the societies they conquered, so the natives changed their culture to the new rulers, not the other way around. Kind of like the Saxon invasion of Britain, if you become the dominant class, people will change to you, if you emigrate and are at the bottom, you will change to the society.
