Any History myths they still teach in elementary school where you live?

>They teach us here in primary school that we won the "Filibuster War" or "Campaign of 1856" against William Walker's almighty professional army, being a bunch of poor farmers fighting with machetes. Some guy that has a monument set fire to a ranch a the filibusters fled in fear and we won.

>In college I learned that Costa Rica actually had an army and it was a top-tier professional army with top-tier equipment for the time while the filibusters were a semi-pro army composed of unemployed European immigrants and homeless veterans that had nothing to lose so they joined a private funded mercenary colonial expedition in hopes of bettering their situation, and sometimes had to bring their own weapons and paid their equipment.

I'm sure there were others, but right now the one that I can remember most vividly is that

>The American revolution invented guerilla warfare
>The English were retards who walked in straight lines on the roads and got shot at by clever minutemen from the woods, who only ran into trouble because they had no supplies.

>Italy has actually switched sides during WII.

Also Juan Santamaría's (not real by the way) statue that we have here was came here because of a switcheroo. The statue was planned to go to some french caribbean island (hence the french uniform on it). At that time the Costa Rican Uniform was Prussian in nature

>YOU GET SHOT FOR MAKING A JOKE ABOUT THE LEADER (even though Stalin died in the 50's and the Enemy of the State policy was abolished alongside with him)
>YOU STARVE TO DEATH (even though famines ended by the end of the 40's and food shortages ended by the mid 50's and did not return until the oil price collapse in the late 80's)

Why is the United States historically the only country in the world that does not treat transportation and energy infrastructure, natural resource development, and communications as a public service and good that should be managed by state-owned agencies? Why didn't the United States ever have a national oil company, railroad company, airline, etc?

Who in History contributed the most to guerrilla combat/theory?
As in, which group/individual became renowned for excelling in guerrilla warfare, and which were the most formidable examples in the past?

Probably Native Americans. The American revolutionaries copied their tactics and overthrew the British.

Well the term and type of warfare is generally attributed to the Spanish during Peninsular Campaign, thus the name "Guerilla".

Sure, but I'm more looking to someone who refined or honed the art of it-someone who excelled specifically at small-scale conflicts against a vastly superior and better equipped enemy.

Yes.

Because in many of those """""""""cessions""""""""" the colonial powers never fully owned the land they gave away.

That Treaty of Paris thing to begin with, which just mandated where British colonists could stay and not fuck around with local natives.

No, native Americans did welcome early Anglo settlers peaceful and expected them only to stay to set up ports and trade.

But as we all known those Anglos decided to massacre natives, enslave them by the thousands and built Anglo-only colonial settlements.

So /his/ just recently I read a bit about the tatar raids into Russia and the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and they mentioned that aside from raids that the tatars also basically bought russian or polish slaves from the russians themselves.
Now my question is how this is possible without any form of political or social stigma as far as I know in all abrahamic religions its forbidden to sell people of your own faith to others.
Further the ones who dealt with slaves in the name of the ottoman empire were mostly greeks and armenians which to my knowledge are both orthodox just like the russians.

What is your opinion on the purposeful editing of the Diary of Anne Frank by her father? Do you consider it an ugly attempt at revising history? To explain, Anne Frank's father published the book with all the sexual aspects in his daughter's writing removed. Some examples would be.
>writing about getting horny looking at a nude statue
>wanting to experiment with her female cousin boob massaging and possibly fingering
>being sexually interested in Peter, the boy in the house they were hiding in
>descriptions of masturbating

Thinking it over here are some points I've noted. A plus (+) will be a positive point and a (-) will be a negative point.

(+) Editing his daughter sexual writings makes the book available to read even in prudish nations like the USA
(-) It's created a fictional depiction that causes people to see Anne as more like a saint
(-) It possibly removes some humanity that teenagers could relate too
(+) It's a father who wants to share the story of his deceased daughter without the world reading about how statues of Venus made her horny
(-) It makes more money by creating a false Anne for the world to see who only has insightful deep things to say. This can also be seen as historical revision by making a saint a martyr instead of an average Jewish teen

Maybe the fact that the US public education system are fucking prudes with a long history of censoring books schools can teach...even the fucking Theory of Evolution?

Maybe now library have access to books with graphic depictions of sex, gore, ect but I guarantee nothing sexual would be allowed in 1950s unless maybe if it was a classic work.

why is that when ever some one thinks of radical republic revolutions they dont think of the long parliament and the commonwealth of england?

napoleon the "emperor" wasn't a monarch?
>>
>>1700739
Because England reverted back to traditional monarchy.

Meanwhile no such thing happened in France. Napoleon and France convinced themselves that they were creating an empire of liberty, with Napoops emperor not by Dynastic Legitimacy/God's will but by National Consent & Acclamation.

Also what happened in England after Charles I was less of a Republican revolution and more Christian ISIS coming to power.

I got some questions! Now you may think this is a "Which one is cooler kek I wanna convert" these are just questions, alright? Got it? Grand.

- Is taking the vow of poverty a choice? The other day I saw a priest wear a gold watch.

- Do the Eastern Orthodox also have the rosary as the catholics do?

- I am under the impression that the protestants are poo according to the catholics. What do the orthodox think about the protestants?

- Will people ever realize that, just because the pope does something does not mean 100% of all catholics do the same or think alike?..

>- Is taking the vow of poverty a choice? The other day I saw a priest wear a gold watch.

Yes. Monastics and other religious have to, but otherwise it's optional.

>- Do the Eastern Orthodox also have the rosary as the catholics do?

There are similar practices yes, though not in the Latin Catholic form.

>- I am under the impression that the protestants are poo according to the catholics. What do the orthodox think about the protestants?

Both the Catholic and the Eastern Orthodox churches would say that Protestantism in general is more or less theologically erroneous depending on the denomination. /his/ is a really terrible representation of the relationship between Catholics and Protestants. Protestants shouldn't be caricatured. Catholics can be really smug and uncharitable on the internet, and all it does it make Catholicism look bad.

>- Will people ever realize that, just because the pope does something does not mean 100% of all catholics do the same or think alike?

Blame the media, and keep in mind that the Pope has little effect on the daily life of your average Catholic. For the most part just pay attention to your local bishop.
>>
>>1700323

According to Vatican 2 they should
>>

So what we're looking at is that there are alot of traditionalist catholics?..
