Thinking people are extremely concerned.
Dumbos are dumb, they are too concerned with working to buy the prepackaged spud chips their children need to survive to worry about the inherent unsustainibility of human civilization. the real problem isn't overpopulation, it's the evolutionary anachronistic anthropocentric value system and the problems that causes when allocating resources, not to mention the scarcity driven consumption incentivized by market capitalism. That's the root of our ecological problems. Most people won't realize what we are doing isn't working until after we crash and burn and are forced to come up with a better way to live.
Hopefully not

Agricultural productivity grew faster than population, and population growth is slowing. Resource depletion through overpopulation is a pure meme. The actual dangers are when you get 7 billion people all freely traveling the planet, and then your network connectivity goes way up and ultra-virulent diseases like ebola become viable as pandemics. People aren't freaking out about that because they don't understand phase transitions.
What's your opinion on it?
Do you have one for an nation?
Alternate history is a genre of fiction consisting of stories in which one or more historical events occur differently from reality. These stories usually contain "what if" scenarios at crucial points in history and present an outcome of events alternative to historical record. The stories are the product of conjecture, but are sometimes based on scientific fact.

>What's your opinion on it?
It is dumb. Because:
>but are sometimes based on scientific fact.
That is not possible, since you cannot predict all of the effects when one thing changes.
I like the idea of chris Columbus never landing in north america and in consequence America as we know it never comes into existence. My mind plays it out as north america being more like south america. A fuck ton of wilderness mostly unpopulated. A number of actual natives still living off the land. Either that or itd have been overrun by some asians or england eventually.

any other non polearm melee weapon pales in comparison so much they might as well be erased from existence and world wouldn't notice any difference.

But it's pretty hard to learn how to fight with a sword

Dumb meme just like ''almost no one could afford one!''. If it was so hard to use then it wouldn't be the most popular post 14th century sidearm.

Yeah right, I'm sure it's harder to swing around a balanced piece of metal compared to a top heavy piece of metal.

I think that sooner or later, corporations, enterprises and the like(large businesses) will end up ruling everything. The reasons for this are laid out before our eyes - they are incredibly rich, hold incredible power within almost every state of the globe, they never have to be moral and they employ much more people than the states or small businesses.
One scenario is that governments will try to regulate them more/try to shut some down, which will lead to them uniting and defeating said governments, becoming governments in their own right. This kind of war would be like the industrial revolution, and just like the industrial revolution, economics will win over any other force. A thing that could spark this would be the extensive use of robotics in businesses as a replacement to some human labor (drivers/cashiers/waiters), which would lead to millions of jobs dissolving and governments trying to step in.
Another possible scenario is that governments will try to go along with the ever growing power of corporations and slowly but surely merge together, although I think this is unlikely.
I'm interested in hearing what you think about this and arguments against it, because so far everyone I've talked to about it people seemed to agree. I'm not saying it's necessarily a good thing(and we're not talking about that), I'm saying it's inevitable.
>>1836434
The families who own the corporations have the real power because they dictate what the company does within it's best interest. Which would make it more of an aristocracy than a "corporatocracy"

>I think that sooner or later, corporations, enterprises and the like(large businesses) will end up ruling everything.
They already do though. The TPP will make corporate-run private courts being able to circumvent and strike down national laws official, though.

How is this this history or humanities?
How come "Dukakis in a tank" was a disaster but "Thatcher in a tank" a couple of years earlier was a success?
becuase she's a woman
>>1836406
Because Thatcher is kawaii
Difference in attitude. Thatcher was no-nonsense and kill 'em all and Dukakis was a weenie. Plus he looks goofy as shit and doesn't know how to operate a chinstrap.

Why was he such a cunt?
I am reading Caesar and Cicero just comes off as being a literal cunt.
Good thing everyone hated him after the Cataline conspiracy. He was such a fucking cunt.
>>1835986
Everyone except for Caesar apparently.
He went out of his way to help and foster a relationship with Cicero over a decade, only for the ass to completely turn his back on him even before crossing the Rubicon.

And then Mark Antony cucked him to pieces on Caesar's orders.
