During the Iran-iraq war ( what a shit name, I prefer to call it the first of the three persian gulf wars), the American f class fighters were able to dramatically outperform the mig class fighters. Why? The soviets had stolen the AIM9 technology long ago.
It wasnt even ground missiles: there were ore iranian aces, although the best ace was the single Iraqi one with only fighter kills.
Can somebody with a lot of knowledge on this suggest somw books?

What do phil majors do with their degrees? All I ever hear is "as a philosophy major, you would have so many options that blah blah blah" and "haha flip burgers haha" and "LSAT".
But on a more serious note, has the value of a phil degree depleted (or if you think all degrees have, has phil depleted more in particular?), or have the philosophers of prior generations just been exceptional? It's just that every time I hear about a famous "modern day" philosopher, they're typically spoken of as they were only a philosophy-oriented Bill Nye. Has the emphasis on STEM and it's separation from philosophy caused it to overshadow it? How well are phil departments in universities typically doing nowadays?
I see this more as commentary on the field rather than any current events in particular. I mean, people talk about Zizek here, that typically isn't considered a violation of the 25 year rule.
