What was the best immigrant group to ever come to the USA?
What was the worst?
English anglo-saxon
Everyone else can fuck off
>>2029274
Irish and Jewish were the best
Germans probably contributed the least to America on average, given how fucking many of them came here despite their general irrelevance

>What was the best immigrant group to ever come to the USA?
Dutch
>all those little people who are completely forgotten by history and who will never leave a mark in history books
>all those nameless conscripted peasants that died fighting in pointless wars waged by kings and nobles
>all those innocents brutally murdered, raped and tortured in "great men's" clashes
>all those lives and destinies who will never be remembered in history, but without whom history would never write itself
Can we have a thread about these poor souls? I feel like they should be honored.
tolstoy pls

Why didn't Poland win WW2?
Britain and France didn't try to advance into Germany. They were dead set on playing defence, allowing germany to take them out one by one and seize their equipment. The French only made 1 offensive into germany before retreating.

Complete /his/ newbie here,
I see a lot of posts here claiming that the WW I is much more fascinating than the second one, but I never found the appeal.
I am familiar with the "history class perspective" (e.g. how it started, who fought whom, the aftermath) but I fail to see the interesting part in comparison to the WW II, which despite being pretty straight-forward, was full of captivating characters, strong ideologies and bizzare situations.
If you can't be bothered to paint the whole picture, at least give me the reason you find it so entertaining, I am sure I can educate myself from there.
Beware of German revisionists, they'll try to pin the war on anyone else.

it was russia's fault mostly. then germany.
Russia screwed over austria by not giving her the land (bosnia) that had been promised by russia after the russo-turkish war. Austria took bosnia anyways, as per the agreement, which created huge tensions. Eventually russia funded a coup in serbia which drastically altered the balance in the balkan states. Serbia used to be neutral/ pro austria. After the coup it was extremely pro russia and pro pan slavic. arch duke Ferdinand was treying to heal the wounds by being extremely liberal to the slavic nations, but was murdered anyways by a orginization that wasnt condemned by russia or even serbia.

Here's a big redpill:
The main Allied faction was France, not Britain
France stopped the Germans alone in 1914 and kept holding the Western Front alone until late 1916 when Brits finally got their shit together and began sending enough troops to be relevant
And even then, France was still the leading nation, Foch was the allied commander in chief and Germany gave its surrender to France
So next time, instead of strengthening the revisionist meme that have overrated britbongs as the symbol of WW1 (looking at you BF1), post a pic of French or German troops instead
In 1948 when they decided to created the jewish state israel. Why was it considered imperative that there was a Jewish state on their historic homeland in 1948?
Why not an assyrian state on their historic homeland? Or a cossack state on their ancestral homeland? or a basque state on their historic homeland? Why does a tribe deserve their own country based on borders that existed 3000 years ago?
Because there were influential Jews in the British government, like Benjamin Disraeli.
Jews had better PR, used terrorism for last 40yrs to achive their goal and just got 'causted
There was basically no justice to the decision.
Everybody got memed by the holocaust industry.

What is the rest of /his/ opinion on the no real presence of a "good and evil" during the First World War that honestly makes it such an interesting period. What's also slightly annoying is that many history classes at the high school level fail to outline this unique situation and protray the War as Germans = bad America/Britain = good
>>2026274
I get triggered hard by teachers who told this one sided account of World War One back in school.
Honestly though its fair too see the krauts as the bad guys in ww1, with their chimp outs in 1914, it is just overshadowed by their actions in ww2, so comparatively we say they wernt the bad guys in ww1
I think it all comes down to whether the 'Rape of Belgium' was worse than everything that the entente did.
Thats the first thing that comes to mind when describing bad things Germany did in ww1.

Wikipedia says Thermopylae was the most famous and most iconic battle in Western history. Is it telling the truth?
I think waterloo is more known.
>>2025760
Maybe not the best known but the legend of thermopylae ticks all the boxes for an iconic battle:
>Invading hordes countered by superior individual skill, discipline, coordination and tactics.
>Defensive battle protecting the homeland.

Either that or D-Day.

See, this is the thing about Chomsky. The problem is there's only one of him, because he's the last one, so his opinions get taken in the context of him being solitary and alone. If he wasn't the last one, if there were more people like him, there would be lots of discourse and diversity of opinion.

Was the Rape on Nanking as horrific as some the stories claim? There is something strange about the whole thing.
Saying
>There is something strange about the whole thing.
Isn't starting a discussion. What's strange about it? Why do you think this? Etc
Stop wasting board space on nothing you mong
>>2028088
Basically that it happened in the far east, to yellow men.
Japs needed to be nuked.
The Rape of Nanking seems horrific because it's our (Western society's) closest and most vivid encounter with pre-industrial pre-colonial warfare. It only seems horrific today because it was the last battle of its kind to be waged in Asia before they were infected with our Republican and Humanitarian ideals.
In reality, it was no worse than what you would have seen when Thracian mercenaries sacked a town for their Athenian employers, or what Roman soldiers would do to a town that wouldn't surrender, or how the American Indians were "pacified"

Hey I remember writing this. Feels like ages ago
Could the Roman Empire at its height in the 2nd century AD defeat the Han Empire if both empires were located right next to each other?
Nope. Romans could barely hold against the Germanic savages, Han China would fuck the Romans up forever.
Neither Empire could defeat the other.
See Persian-Roman wars. Lots of fighting, not much changes. That is until nomadic shitheads come and ruin things for every one.
>>2027641
>Romans could barely hold against the Germanic savages
Is that why several Germanic tribes were literally genocided by Marius?
>Han China would fuck up the Romans forever.
Sure thing, Wun Sun.
