In 1942-1945 there was a massive typhus epidemic across Europe which is what caused the vast majority of concentration camp deaths, including Anne Frank.

Zyklon B is a commonly used pesticide and it's use in concentration camps was because typhus is spread by ticks, hence the use of zyklon b as a disinfectant.

There is no proof that zyklon b was used in sufficient concentrations to cause massive human death, residue in brick samples was consistent with concentrations for delousing rather than mass killing.

>In 1942-1945 there was a massive typhus epidemic across Europe which is what caused the vast majority of concentration camp deaths, including Anne Frank.

Yes, so massive, that the Nazis felt they needed to build crematoria facilities capable of incinerating the entire populations of their prison camps in a week, all the while shoveling in more people that kept them burning.

>There is no proof that zyklon b was used in sufficient concentrations to cause massive human death

Well, other than the HCN found in the human hair remains of Auschwitz victims, and the fact that you need considerably less of the stuff to kill people than you do to disinfect.

> residue in brick samples was consistent with concentrations for delousing rather than mass killing.

Then why did Jan Markiewicz, Wojeich Gubala, and Jerzy Labedz come to very different conclusions in their 1994 report? Why are the HCN levels enormously higher in the crematoria and the gassing chambers than in the barracks that would need to be disinfected if this was really to combat a typhus epidemic?

>Nazis felt they needed to build crematoria facilities

so as not to contaminate the ground or others around them. What did people in the black plague do to corpses? thats right they burned them.

>capable of incinerating the entire populations of their prison camps in a week

entirely untrue. Auschwitz camp with its 6 ovens could only burn a maximum of about 15-20 bodies a day with their limited coke fuel supplies.

>all the while shoveling in more people that kept them burning.

bodies don't burn by themselves retard. the human body is up to 60% water

>HCN found in the human hair remains of Auschwitz victims

not true. many inmates had their hair cut. others were deloused

> residue in brick samples was consistent with concentrations for delousing rather than mass killing.

look at the Leuchter report done and the first Polish survey in 1991 found no evidence of gas being used

Ultimately, his tactics centered around looking for ways to discover and strike at undefended or weakly defended shipping rather than coming up with ways to overcome defenses.

When his enemies, principally the British, came up with ways to defend their convoys better, his reaction was inevitably to try to cast his net wider, strike at new, not yet hardened targets. When all targets became hardened, he didn't really have a response. Don't forget, the bulk of U-boat production and U-boat activity was post 1942, well after the Battle of the Atlantic had effectively been lost; and whose only further impact would be to force the Allies to spend more resources on defense that might have been reallocated to other fields.

I'd argue he was the most repulsive man in Germany desu.

Of course he was a hardcore Nazi who supported the extermination of Slavs and Jews. But so did every other high ranking officer of the Third Reich. What makes Doenitz stand out even from most of them was his complete lack of regard for ANY life of any kind.

While 1939-1942 had been an impressive success story, 1943 was a turning point, and by 1944 his men were getting massacred in the Atlantic for virtually no return. Over the course of that year there were 232 U-boats lost, for a paltry 209 ships (and that's including several 50 ton smacks and other small coastal vessels), yet Doenitz kept spending their lives like water. Worse yet, he knew he was getting tens of thousands of men who adored him slaughtered for absolutely no gain and that he could have called it off at any time, but he kept doing so because of pride/honor.

At least when Doenitz's Nazi buddies are killing civilians or working slaves to death, they're justifying it to themselves with "Jewish conspiracy" or "battle of the races" BS. Basically genuinely convincing themselves that their enemies are subhuman and what they're doing is necessary. But Doenitz willingly throwing thousands of men who fulfilled absolutely every one of his criteria for "actually human" (down to "love and worship Doenitz") into the grinder for what he admitted was no gain other than Doenitz thinking it was the (in his own words) "prideful" and "honorable" thing for the navy to do doesn't even have that justification. He sent tens of thousands of "noble Aryans" to watery graves just so he could feel slightly more prideful. It's a whole different level of just not giving a shit.

>Zaporozhian Cossacks to the Turkish Sultan!

>O sultan, Turkish devil and damned devil's kith and kin, secretary to Lucifer himself. What the devil kind of knight are thou, that canst not slay a hedgehog with your naked arse? The devil shits, and your army eats. Thou shallt not, thou son of a whore, make subjects of Christian sons; we have no fear of your army, by land and by sea we will battle with thee, fuck thy mother.

>Thou Babylonian scullion, Macedonian wheelwright, brewer of Jerusalem, goat-fucker of Alexandria, swineherd of Greater and Lesser Egypt, pig of Armenia, Podolian thief, catamite of Tartary, hangman of Kamyanets, and fool of all the world and underworld, an idiot before God, grandson of the Serpent, and the crick in our dick. Pig's snout, mare's arse, slaughterhouse cur, unchristened brow, screw thine own mother!

>So the Zaporozhians declare, you lowlife. You won't even be herding pigs for the Christians. Now we'll conclude, for we don't know the date and don't own a calendar; the moon's in the sky, the year with the Lord, the day's the same over here as it is over there; for this kiss our arse!

>>

This.

There's nothing in postmodernism to "believe in," shit for brains. Lurk more, read more, stop making threads that are literally worthless.

Could the South have used trench warfare more effectively or was the artillery technology and ROA of the Gatling guns just not enough to force a stalemate yet? I was thinking about this because the Confederacy could have won the war by basically holding their territory and outlasting the Union.

When I say "trench warfare", I mean as a general battle strategy, to dig in. Not just the tactical use of, obviously.

I mean, if you took the same geopolitical issues but placed the year at 1914 instead of 1861, Id imagine the same thing that happened in Europe would have happened along the Mason - Dixon line. The fucking south would have actually one, the shit eaters.
>>
Attrition warfare doesn't work very well when you have less production and population than the enemy.
>>
Trench warfare was used wherever possible. By the end of the war, the first thing soldiers did when they stopped was to dig a trench.

How true is the following...?

The left vs right dichotomy is very simple:

If you believe in deontological ethics and free will, then you're libertarian right
If you believe in consequentialism and determinism, then you're authortarian left

Not true at all.

The left right-dichotomy comes from the French revolution. Those on the left supported more egalitarian policies (e.g. constitution, equal rights etc), those on the right were more in favor of hierarchy.

This is why centrist left supported stuff like a constitutional monarchy, regular to far left supported the abolition of monarchy and those on the ultra left (i.e. left of Robespierre) were proto-communists who also opposed the inequality and hierarchy brought about by private property.
>>
It's simpler than that.

If you believe in the status quo, the establishment, the patriarchy, whatever, above your personal and family needs, you're right wing.

If you believe in your personal and family needs above the status quo, the establishment, the patriarchy, whatever, you're left wing.

Interesting perspective.
>>
It certainly is interesting how time seems to speed up as you live. It seems like technology just makes things faster and faster. The needs of people being met over time more quickly. I'm wondering where it ends. It doesn't seem sustainable.
>>
More like a progression of instants, the smallest unit of time.

However, If you consider time as a dimension like in Physics, you can consider each instant to be a coordinate in which you are situated.
The flow of time does not really exist, it doesn't progress, but we are simple beings that travel through it like we travel through space as earth orbits in the physical dimensions. The whole history of things is a big static picture, determined since the beginning and with a unique end.
