I'm searching for this book a long time. Anybody has a pdf of it, or where can i download?
I want to write a essay about the battle of Moscow, so any help about the historiography of the eastern front will be appreciated.
le out of place man

Look up Vasilly Grossman, he wrote on many of the eastern front battles, perhaps most notably Stalingrad, but the Battle of Moscow as well.
how do anglicans even justify their meme religion that was formed literally for the sole purpose of letting a lecherous king sleep around?
>>2450925
They don't. It's a cultural thing to them at this point.
>>2450925
Christianity as a whole is a meme religion.
>>2450925
It dispels with the Romish dogmas of Papal Infallibility, Purgatory and Immaculate Conception. The BCP and Book of Common Praise are both dank. But the Anglican Communion is being destroyed by cultural marxists in the ACC and TEC and is in a demographic nosedive, so I'm seriously considering Orthodoxy.
I'd start going back to mass if they did it in Latin because I don't understand Latin and hearing stuff in a language you don't understand makes it all more spoopy. I don't wanna hear a numale priest preach to me in English about forgiveness. I want to be exposed to spoopy mysticism again.
How can we make this happen?

Go to Latin mass?
If you're in the US, most diocese have a Latin mass society. It's the one I usually attend. I'm not really a fan of the Novus Ordo. Too much irreverence.

this
There's several priests and diocese moving to a latin mass again, although it's still offered in the ordinary form too.
Personally, I think both are fine and valid, but I can't deny there's a lot more ritualism and pomp in the Latin versions. I wouldn't mind going back to nothing but Latin services if that's what was decided, although I know a lot of younger people and converts that specifically don't like Latin because they don't understand it. I can somewhat sympathize with them because they're looking for practical, tangible effects of the mass instead of realizing it's primarily for the glory of the Lord and the salvation of the people.

Sounds like you're more interested in being entertained than worshipping the Almighty
Is it autism?
>>2450333
Yes, the demography of the Balkans is autism.
>>2450333
Yes, everything is autism.
Archaeology now
>diglett.jpg
>oh a greek black figure pottery amphora from 2000 BC
>very nice put it in a museum
Archaeology in 2000 years
>dugtrio.tiff
>oh a chinese mass produced plastic tupperware from 2000 AD
>worthless shit throw it away
This doesn't apply just to pottery, but pretty much everything. A computer will be equally worthless unlike Antikythera mechanism. Not to mention houses, books, etc. Contemporary products don't have any value, they're equally worthless now as they will be in the future.

arch now aint worth shit its all logged the physical remmenant artifacts are likewise worth as much jack as the next 2k
>>2450268
Archaeology isn't important because what we dig is pretty, you speg. It what its tell us about how people lived. A preserved plastic container with food residue says an enormous about the society it was produced in.
Damn, opened the thread expecting discussion on high res geophysics, photogrammetry etc. I know I should have expected something fucking stupid but "dude tupperware is ugly looooooool" under the pompous title of "Future of Archaeology" is some next level potato tier bullshit
hello, /his/
I have a school project that is coming up near the end of the year for my european history class but i would prefer to start it now. my professor said that it can be about literally anything from 1300 - 1980.
ideas? looking for something most likely digital, im not good at art by any means.
OP here,
sorry for vagueness
project has to be relatively school appropriate but other than that, there are no rules on what the media is or what fashion it's made or whatever

Is social congruence reality or utopia?
#Philosophy is packed with dichotomies. A good example is logic vs. common sense. Even though we might understand the obvious in a particular situation (common sense), we might still not understand the details of its mechanics (logic). The universe is full of patterns, often defined by what we call laws of nature. Is contemporary society designed to dance with the natural flow of the universe?

Were there any soldiers protecting "god" with "fiery wings" ?
Were there any soldiers like this protecting Tigris and Euphrates ?
How do you retards come up with this stuff?
Angels are real you retarded fedora. They talk to me all the time.

Never. While Hitler was smart enough to realise that the Germans were untermensch who deserved to suffer for failing to live up to his high hopes for them, Mussolini kept believing in his fellow Italians until the end.
Is this show any good from a historical perspective /his/?
There are a couple of cheeky nods to what happened historically that the average person probably wouldn't pick up on but for the most part it's totally fictional

s1 and s1.5 were great
from that it was garbage
not because the new actor, he was good, but due to shit and I mean SHIT writing, every background being CGI and zero accuracy in portraying anything
The series with the original actor is the best, rest bored me
Hey /his/lads,
what do you think about this book, The Roman Revolution, from Ronald Syme?
I just started reading it and its hard to get into it for me. Im by no means a roman times expert, maybe thats why.
What was your experience with it, and can you recommend some other roman books?
b-bump

>what do you think about this book, The Roman Revolution, from Ronald Syme?
An interesting work that explores the importance of Augustus's supporters in establishing his reign. Been a while since I read it and can be a somewhat difficult read but is worth it, Syme's work one of the biggest ones (at least among academia) in the field even though it is decades old.
> can you recommend some other roman books?
Yeah see https://classicsvic.files.wordpress.com/2016/04/rafferty.pdf
Though short it talks about contemporary scholarship on the Roman Republic and various views on its decline. I also recommend "A Companion to the Roman Republic" (http://bookzz.org/book/691900/83657f) which is a bunch of essays about contemporary work on the subject, "The Blackwell Companion to the Roman Empire" (http://bookzz.org/book/612114/714262) which does the same thing the first book does but with the Empire, and "The Last Generation of the Roman Republic" (http://www.mediafire.com/file/y7hypwl4ff7tm6u/The_Last_Generation_of_the_Roman_Republic.pdf).
>>2449253
Big fan of Sir Ronald, and of The Roman Revolution in particular. He's a great writer, not afraid to make a joke, and boy does he hate Julius Caesar. Another book on the same period is Party Politics in the Age of Caesar by Lily Ross Taylor. Also try Rome in the Late Republic by Mary Beard and Michael Crawford.
>Women weren't allowed to wear pants until the 1860s
How bullshit is this statement /his/?
me mum said her middle school would send girls wearing pants home
this is 1968 nyc
me mum said the mansion she worked at would send girls home for wearing pants
this is 1970s at Hugh Hefner's place
me pater familiae said the governour would send men wearing pants back to germania
this is 120 BC Mediolanum
I remember somebody saying that castle walls during the Medieval ages were usually covered in paint, unlike the way they look now or how they're portrayed in films.
Were they simply coated in paint, or did people also paint art on them as well? Post pictures if you have any.
I doubt that's true.
>>2449049
I don't see why not. People were really into colorful shit back in the middle ages.
They were painted on the inside most of the time. Now you could have some nobles having their keep partially painted and with colored roof tiles.
On the other hand, cathedrals and basilicas, as well as some churches, used to be painted or covered in lime based plaster
Is he right, /his/? Have we warped our understanding of history?

Oh jeez I remember this shit from 2010 era /new/
Was it autism?
I don't know if I would weep if Jordan were to be killed.

I've seen enough of this charlatan's nonsense to go out on a limb and say "no."
Is there any point in particular of this video you consider particularly compelling? Can't be assed to watch an hour of it.
