Holy shit what a hack! Cant wrap my mind over the fact hes considered like the quintessential artist, an artists's artist. Is the history of art dead? Schools are dead and it all seems to have delved into some sort of sea of crossover techniques with an anything goes base philosophy.

Photography killed representative art so artists started to sperg out hard to remain relevant.

Can't believe these school tolde to revere these hacks
How did the Mongols become so irrelevant?
When did horse archers become so irrelevant?
They are a landlocked country. No landlocked country has ever achieved anything.

>>2458868
>after he was guillotined napoleon used his popularity as a general to destroy the revoltuion from within
Napoleo, saved the Revolution
Before his Coup, the members of the Directoire were about to betray the Revolution and help to restore Monarchy in exchange for nobility titles
As the Revolution had lasted less than a decade, it would have been easy to erase all it created and go back to the old order
But instead, Napoleon took over and kept most revolutionary ideals under his reign, even spreading them to all Europe
When he finally fell, revolutionary ideals had been applied for so long that they were now ingrained in the minds of the people of Europe, this making a full return to feudalism impossible to achieve
Tl;dr: Napoleon saved the Revolution

>The foulest Babylonian custom is that which compels every woman of the land to sit in the temple of Aphrodite and have intercourse with some stranger at least once in her life. Many women who are rich and proud and disdain to mingle with the rest, drive to the temple in covered carriages drawn by teams, and stand there with a great retinue of attendants. But most sit down in the sacred plot of Aphrodite, with crowns of cord on their heads; there is a great multitude of women coming and going; passages marked by line run every way through the crowd, by which the men pass and make their choice. Once a woman has taken her place there, she does not go away to her home before some stranger has cast money into her lap, and had intercourse with her outside the temple; but while he casts the money, he must say, “I invite you in the name of Mylitta”. It does not matter what sum the money is; the woman will never refuse, for that would be a sin, the money being by this act made sacred. So she follows the first man who casts it and rejects no one. After their intercourse, having discharged her sacred duty to the goddess, she goes away to her home; and thereafter there is no bribe however great that will get her. So then the women that are fair and tall are soon free to depart, but the uncomely have long to wait because they cannot fulfil the law; for some of them remain for three years, or four.

INDUSTRIALIZATION IS MERELY A METHOD OF PRODUCTION; THE PROBLEM IS THE COMMODIZATION OF MONEY, WHICH HAS BEEN TURNED FROM A SIGN TO FACILITATE EXCHANGE, TO THE END PRODUCT OF WORK.
THIS WAS NO RANDOM PROCESS, BUT AN INTENTIONAL PERVERSION BY JEWS.
Why are pirates mostly associated with the Age of Discovery/Exploration?
Pirates have always existed since navies were a thing, hundreds of years before Christ you had pirates sailing the mediterranean sea and attacking trade vessels. There were even bursts of pirate epidemics during the Roman empire that required war ships to step in.
So why is that 15~17th century piracy is so ingrained in pop-culture and the minds of people? Is there anything special about the Yarrs and Ahoys that sets them apart from all other pirates throughout history?
>>2458757
Because that's when the romantic literature surrounding them crops up, you fucking imbecile.
>>2458758
This. Also, piracy in the Caribbean was profitable as hell, to the point where an independent "pirate state" could exist in the Bahamas for more than a decade.
>>2458757
It's the age that is the closest to us, and also the most interesting. Ancient piracy was limited to the Mediterrean. The golden age of piracy took place in the unexplored and exotic waters all around the globe.
I just found out my ancestor died in this scuffle.
I cannot really find out which side won. It doesn't matter really but history is so polarizing I gave up looking for victors.
Also small scale conflicts are really cool to learn about as the information is much more personal.
Would like to hear about other micro conflicts that interest you guys.

Did the manga carta change where war was fought? I watched a video recently saying that the manga carta allowed the barons to seek more profitable ventures in China and other parts of the world. Basically the guy said that the magma carta is the reason the age of exploration began. Barons were allowed to do whatever they wanted so they sold valuable products outside of Europe.
>>2458671
What caused the age of exploration?
It enshrined the fundamental notion that the King should be subject to (and the servant of) the law of the land the same as everybody else.
This is the big departure from the French model where the King was the law.

Is attending Mass really essential to being a Catholic?
I don't like standing and holding hands with illegal brown people.
>>2458340
Attending mass isn't necessary, not judging others would be necessary, so you can't be Catholic either way.
Being unable to afford living far from the immigrant-infested areas is indeed a Catholic trait.

So let me get this straight, Martin Luther got mad the Church of Rome was preaching one can obtain salvation by living a moral life and performing good deeds, instead of preaching you can only obtain salvation by believing Jesus?

Is it right to kill someone based off faith in a principle even if you dont know through reason that the principle exists?
>>2458191
Thou shall not murder.
>>2458193
I never said christianity specifically.
>>2458195
The ten commandments are not strictly Christian rules nor are they only applicable to Christians.
It is not right (from a societal and economic point of view) to murder for a multitude of reasons. If you can't think of any simply remember, thou shall not murder and have faith that there is good reason why you should not.
That's the beauty of the commandments, they are simple. You do not need to comprehend the reason behind them but in them is more knowledge than most ever realize.
