Arab lies
Muḥammad ibn ‘Abdullâh al-Kurdi had Kurdish ancestry
That is why so many Arabs followed the great Kurdish leader Saladin and united under him as the true leader of Islam

Room where it happens a best
Japanese/Chinese History Books (in English)
Hi, /his/,
Long story short, I like history but throughout my shitty American education none of my professors have even touched on Eastern history pre-WWII (besides "Marco Polo sucked China's dick").
I'd like to start by reading about either Japanese or Chinese history. Can anyone recommend to me a good place to start? Just the names of a few books is all I'm looking for.
Thanks i know you'll come through.
Start with China: A New History by John King Fairbank. Its an amazing introduction into ancient / classical China that explains things like Confucianism, Daoism, Legalism, and Chinese Buddhism really well. My biggest annoyance with it is that it goes through the classical era really fast in favor for the later eras (13th century and up). You won't be reading about the warring states or the three kingdoms.
After you read that book, read A History of Japan by R. H. P. Mason. I personally think learning about China before you read about Japan is essential, especially since you learn how Zen Buddhism develops in China and moves to Japan.
Both China: A History by John Keay and China: A New History by John King Fairbank are good places to start. The former proportionally spends more focus towards covering the pre-Republic period while the latter proportionally spends more focus towards covering the Republic and beyond, but they both give a decent overview of China's history from the neolithic period until now.
When was the time of cowboys? Is the whole "Wild West" thing true?
>>2426917
1. 1865-1917 (not meant to be exact)
2. Tame-ish West, it was more "Injuns getting pushed out of their ancient lands by gov't"
1803-1889 and yes.
well you need to understand theres a difference between cowboys, as in the actual profession of cow handlers, and cowboys as vigilante/bounty hunter/gun slinging movie archetype
I think Hang Em' High is the only Eastwood movie where he plays an actual cowboy
What should we call the great multitude of people who profess to be christian but never pray nor attend church nor study the faith nor abide by its teachings?
>>2426819
Christians.
It's what Christians do after all. You cunts aren't Muslim-tier in your faith.
Christians.
>>2426819
Apostacy I guess would be the technical term for it. Lapsed Catholic is also a popular saying, though it's slightly different from someone who professes to be Christian but never does anything with it.
It's pretty hard to put a term to it for protestants since there's not really any rules one has to follow except profess your faith in God. Even the church structure isn't required for a personal relationship with God by their beliefs. It's entirely possible to be saved and never actually do anything else, and your fellow Christians will be hesitant to call you out on it in fear of seeming like they're rejecting sola scriptura.
Why is the term "corporatism" so widely misused in America? I wouldn't care except for the fact that actual corporatism is some of the most based systems of economics.
>pic unrelated

Same reason a lot of words are misused in America.
Americans are retards.

This
I posit that there are only three real forms of conservatism and two of them are invalid.
1. Conservatism by default - continuing traditions purely for traditionalism's sake, inherited political leanings
2. Reactionary conservatism - pendulum shift achieved when liberalism is at its peak ie the change in the US from hippies to Reagan-era Republicans or the modern revolt against perceived SJWism in the Trump era
3. True Conservatism - but how does one get to this point?
>>2426276
>3. True Conservatism - but how does one get to this point?
North Korea.
>>2426276
Technocratic horseshit warning: Traditionalism can be viewed as a cultural Bayesian database. Since individuals collect only a very tiny sample of data compared to generations past, conservatism may represent a shortcut yes/no response to new stimuli that achieved success in the past.
The obvious question then becomes how much new information (technology, changing culture, etc.) must be acquired before we alter that database?
>>2426276
What a stupid post. You must be a very stupid person, OP.
Firstly, the USA =/= the World, Conservatism is different in every nation and simply means "for tradition and against innovation (in politics)". In America, democracy, free trade, and capitalism are "Conservative" because they are the founding principles of the country. In Britain, on the other hand, "Conservatives" are anti-democratic and protectionist.
Is this a good intro to philosophy?

XES GNIVAH POTS
ONLY THE NOBLE ONES SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO REPRODUCE; NOBLE PERSONS ARE NECESSARY TO COMBAT THE IGNOBLE ONES WHOM NEVER STOP REPRODUCING.
BEFORE ESCAPING THE WORLD, ONE MUST IMPROVE IT, TAKING IT TO ITS ULTIMACY, AND DEFEAT THE FORCES OF "EVIL", OBLITERATING THEM; IT IS THE NOBLE ONE'S DUTY TO ERADICATE "EVIL" BEFORE ASCENDING; TO ESCAPE THE WORLD, LEAVING IT IN DARKNESS, WOULD BE DISGRACEFUL AND DISHONOURABLE; ONE SHOULD NOT AVOID STRUGGLE, BUT TRANSCEND IT.

You need to post that backwards. Literally, not regarding the content. That already is backwards.
