Is optimism always right?
only when it isn't wrong
Pessimism is more cautious and reasonable. There is nothing wrong with being prepared for the worst.

Why did feminists and suffragettes start the white feather campaign to shame and humiliate ordinary men into volunteering to die in a pointless war?
>>2489990
Penis Envy. Alot of the suffragettes were incredibly misandrist and racist (more so than many of their male contemporaries). Really makes you think why no one brings it up today.

>The sole end for which mankind are warranted, individually or collectively, in interfering with the liberty of action of any of their number, is self-protection. That the only purpose for which power can be rightfully exercised over any member of a civilized community, against his will, is to prevent harm to others. His own good, either physical or moral, is not sufficient warrant. He cannot rightfully be compelled to do or forbear because it will be better for him to do so, because it will make him happier, because, in the opinion of others, to do so would be wise, or even right...The only part of the conduct of anyone, for which he is amenable to society, is that which concerns others. In the part which merely concerns him, his independence is, of right, absolute. Over himself, over his own body and mind, the individual is sovereign.
Prove her wrong.
not sure. probably a very modern view on social relations. In practical reality most of us live that way anyway. In traditional societies the well being of the individual is understood to be more synonymous with the well veing of everyone. If one amongst us becomes a drug addict and his illness spreads to others, we soon have a catastrophe on our hands. It is the duty of those around him to help him choose a better path, not to be indifferent in the name of freedom and individualism. We ought to care for one another after all.
Do not invoke the words freedom or independence in the face of a spreading disease in your midst
so in the end her view is highly theoretical and very enlightenment

Rights don't exist.
>>2490412
Do people exist?
Do people confer to and defend the rights they define as belonging to one another?
Yes?
Well guess what...
Social constructs exist.
Could the American Revolutionary War be considered a British victory, even though they lost most of their colonies to the rebels? Specifically in terms of the fighting with other European powers. The Dutch were solidly beaten. The Spanish got all of Florida, but their main goal in the Great Siege of Gibaltar failed, and they sustained heavy losses. Most importantly, the French meanwhile sustained heavy losses that basically crippled their state and heavily contributed to its collapse in 1789.
>>2489956
Do you know how much revenue the Brits lost with the colonies?
>>2489956
no, it wasn't a complete disaster because they managed to avoid losses other than the 13 colonies but it was still a serious loss for britain
Though as you note it is kind of funny that the French were on the winning side but the fact that they spent so much money on the war when they were already massively in debt helped lead to the revolution. French revolutionaries were also inspired by America's government.

Hahaha, yeah, no.
Even if you happen to think Hitler had the right idea about the Jews, a lot of his war plans were utterly terrible (Battle of Britain, invading Russia in the winter) and his actions are directly responsible for Germany getting split in two and occupied by foreign powers, not to mention giving European nationalism in general a bad name.
Was Hitler a Christlike figure?
>>2489804
Im under the impression some in the nazi party thought the german people needed a savior so they used propaganda to make Hitler seem like one. So i guess from a propaganda kind of way he could be considered one.

Do you think that governments should be forced to seek approval for tax changes through referendum?
>>2489779
referendums should be reserved for the simplest most common sense problems.
What would end up happening is no tax referendum would end up passing and the government would subsequently collapse.
Yes, but you need to hold referendum first to see if a referendum is fair spending of taxpayer money.
Why do Muslims pray to a black cube?
Because godcucks gonna get cucked.
Because Jews told them to.
No seriously, the jewish Banu Qurayza's told the Arab tribes of Medina that it was a Abrahamic temple and that they should pray to it like the locals did.

Only partially true, as the public will get in an uproar if you publicly criticize an infant.

But you're allowed to criticize them, even if the public get in an uproar. You wouldn't be arrested for criticizing an infant.

No. Years after Mario was made king of Mushroomland, Luigi (tired of playing second fiddle) suffered a psychotic break-down. His delusions manifested themselves as an imaginary friend who convinced him to murder his brother in cold blood.

Muslims and Asians don't mix well. Or Buddhists for that matter who at some points REALLY hated Islam and Mohammad is even mentioned as a demon who lives in Mecca. They fucking hate each other. Probably because Islam tends to be antagonistic towards any other belief systems. So, I'm sure the people mainly influenced by Zen Buddhism and Shinto weren't very happy to see Muslims in Asia.
