Muslims and Asians don't mix well. Or Buddhists for that matter who at some points REALLY hated Islam and Mohammad is even mentioned as a demon who lives in Mecca. They fucking hate each other. Probably because Islam tends to be antagonistic towards any other belief systems. So, I'm sure the people mainly influenced by Zen Buddhism and Shinto weren't very happy to see Muslims in Asia.
