In biology and medicine, the common treatment for a cancerous or malignant cell growth is utter eradication through the use of chemotherapy and other aggressive drugs. In animal kingdoms, the same concepts are used. Look at monkeys, elephants, horses, or any other social animal. When one of them acts up, they are simply removed from the earth as their net effect on the rest of the planets inhabitants is too negative to support. Why do humans not engage in this practice?
>>3326404
It goes against the mainstream morality. Basically you're saying "kill the unwantables bc their net effect is too negative." But you have to define unwantables and at what point does their net effect become so negative that they should die and you have to answer why you shouldn't kill them if their existence is only negative but it's not really their fault. "What about the elderly, the retards, and criminals who could possibly be rehabilitated?" They'll say. It's just because humans do have a sort of collective mind set and "hurting one is hurting us all" mentality. And honestly a world where in all unwantables are killed off immediately sounds a little despotic to most people. Almost like it would end up like a "1984" scenario.
Pic unrelated
>>3326404
Well for one thing, once you start engaging in such policies, there's no reason not to extend them further. Why not kill everybody who isn't either a good looking healthy person with high intelligence and a positive tax contribution, or is willing to slave for those people as a second-class entity?
>>3326404
Because "Acting up" can be defined as just about anything. Defend yourself, being loud, not talking bullshit form others, being assertive, not being a meek little bitch, accidentally bumping into someone, bring in the "wrong place" etc. Any petty fuck can use the system to fuck anyone they don't like and be a total fuckwad.
What is the most meta ancient book you know of? If any at all? Like, do you know of any ancient book that breaks the 4th wall, or acknowledges it's readers and tries to play with their perception? Maybe like, a historic record that acknowledges that it will be read by very different people, in a very different world, and tries to do something with that?
Just curious.
>>3326328
I know Aristophanes' comedies broke the 4th wall quite frequently
>>3326328
"Lessons of History" maybe, it's quite meta in searching what studying history actually teaches people other than random facts
>>3326341
That sounds like a fun book to both read and write.
Was Hephaestion second only to Alexander?
Also who of the Diadochi reeeeeee'd the most after Alexander's death?
>>3326320
>Also who of the Diadochi reeeeeee'd the most after Alexander's death?
Definitely Perdiccas. He sperged out trying to keep the empire from crumbling and got himself killed by his own men for being so autistic about it.

Antigonus and his son Demetrios got a bit crazy. They demanded they be declared gods on earth, and made fuckhuge siege engines that were straight out of warhammer in scale.

What is the next topic to move on to?
I already know sufficiently enough about general history and contemporary international politics to enjoy obscure memes featuring either and have an own opinion about related concepts.
Can you identify this German WW2 uniform?
While looking up my ancestors I came across this picture, and I have had a lot of trouble identifying this uniform.
The photo was probably taken in Lodz (Litzmannstadt) in 1941-1943. The man in the picture might have been in the Ordnungspolizei, but that's not certain.
Two things are striking with this picture: the collar shape seems to be very rare, the closest I have seen yet are (low-rank) SS uniforms. But I haven't found any uniform with the two six-pointed stars (!) on the collar like in the picture.
So I am both asking and challenging /his/ to identify the uniform in the picture :)

How does it feel to know that your grandpa is an SS nazi war criminal
Looks like Gramps was part of Hitlers personal trap harem.
>>3326254
Looks reminiscent of National Chinese uniform. Could be a German advisor to China, but I can't tell with any certainty
Are there any actually sound arguments against determinism? Most of the criticisms seem to stem from discomfort regarding the possible illusion of choice rather than actually legitimate counterpoints.
>>3326201
Quantum mechanics
>>3326201
Yeah quantum mechanics. The only deterministic explanations that fit the data are co sportaorial and kinda retarded
Stochastic universe seems more likely and also allows a nice way to avoid the contradictions Aquinas discovered in causality

About...
How do you think an Allied loss at D-Day would've effected the war?
imperceptibly, operation dragoon was a thing
>Allied loss
Not possible when you look at the force discrepancies.

How would Russia have turned out differently had Nicholas not been removed from power? Wasn't the country in the process of industrializing towards the end of his reign?
>>3326004
The Soviet Union not existing would have profound consequences for the entire world, not just for Russia. For starters, if the Tsardom had survived the war, they probably would have annexed a sizeable chunk of Germany at the end of the war, sort of like what our real-world USSR did after WW2. Poland wouldn't exist as an independent nation at all. There is also a very strong possibility that Russia would acquire Constantinople in the aftermath of the war if the Tsardom survives. Red China would also probably not exist because I doubt that Czarist Russia would tolerate Mao for very long.
Would you rather be a trench soldier during WW1 or a russian peasant during WW2?
Do I have to continue this life after the war?
at least a soldier in the trenches has a country to go home to that won't put them in a gulag for being exposed to the west

Western imperialism must be stoped no mater what...

can someone give me a rundown on the history of troop inspection?
how did it start, what propaganda goals does it serve? I mean you can't actually tell the quality of troops from how pretty they can look.
is I t meant to scare the enemy or scare the native populace? Is it meant to show the separation between the leaders and the armed troops?
>>3326076
>I mean you can't actually tell the quality of troops from how pretty they can look. You can tell by how little the fuck up, how detail oriented they are, etc.
A prepared soldier is a disciplined soldier. An organized army able to actually put on a show like inspections or parades has it's poop in a group. It's good for (local and troop) morale as well as scaring others. It's good for practice.
