I'm quite new to Linux but I'm wanting to set up my computer so that I can perform my daily tasks without using a mouse or touchpad at all or as little as possible.

Mostly all I do is browse the web, watch things, listen to things, C and Java programming, not a ton else.

Can any one suggest on how to optimize windows 8.1 performance and improve privacy?

How much of a botnet is windows 8.1 and do performance altering updates really exist?

Don't install optional updates. Look around for telemetry update lists periodically to uninstall and hide. Disable any services you don't use

I love the idea of passive GPUs, and they look nice, but it's like they are just not up to task. Type in gpu in any kind of ad site, and 90% of the faulty ones will be passively cooled

I made the mistake of putting in a cheap rosewill piece of shit wifi adapter in my new build and its internet speed is less than 1Mbps. Meanwhile my laptop can get well above 50Mbps which is the correct internet speed for my plan.

I've heard good things about the intel wifi chipsets.

What would you guys recommend for a good PCIE wifi adapter?

I knew someone would say to just use ethernet.

I'd rather not go through the trouble of running wires through the walls and the attic considering my laptop gets the right speed over wifi.

I'm thinking about dual booting my system to run Windows 10 and Ubuntu 16.04, but I want to install it on my C: which is an SSD, and I'm running into a snag

I've got 60GB free out of 240GB and Disk Management only shows 0mb free when I try to shrink the volume to make the partition. I have other drives available, but I really want to run it on the SSD

I've defragged the drive and everything came back fine

What should I do /g/?

Are you retarded?

Resize outside of Windows, using gPartEd for example. Asking Windows to shrink its own system volume is never going to give as good results.

Predictions are still shit. I prefer SwiftKey.

Hopefully this will cause SwiftKey to increase the number of themes they have.

So, I think I may be experiencing a bottleneck here, but I am not very good with computers. Which is why I am here, I have a Radeon HD 7950 and AMD FX(tm)-8350, which I think the gpu is bottlenecking my cpu but I am not sure. I could use the help, thanks /g/!

Are there IP cameras that can directly stream live video to a RTMP server like youtube, twitch, etc?

So I don't have a to run a computer/server with Wowza/red5/ffmepg or whatever... Just use the IP camera alone

So far I have only found some on this website, could this be real?

/diy/ didn't know how to help me so now I turn here out of desperation.

I'm attempting to install a car PC. Currently, I have the video out (composite) wired directly into where the backup camera connects (it is the only composite in in the car). According to the weird-ass motherfuckers that go to car forums, this is the best way to get video onto the monitor.

The only issue is, pic related happens. The image is distorted as fuck, warping in from the left side with degraded colors.

Does anybody know what might even cause this issue? The pi and the screen work fine apart from one another, but when connected shit gets fucked.

I can not find ANYTHING about this kind of interference ANYWHERE and it's seriously fucking me up, I've not been able to fix this for days.

>>55597229
It's a power issue find a cleaner way to get power to the pi the screen is fine
>>
>>55597268
Are you positive? I figured it might be this, but I also didn't notice anyone but audiophiles bitching about how clean USB power was. This same problem happens whether or not the pi is powered by the car (I have an extension cable out there as well) and with the same power source, the pi works fine on my projector.
>>
>>55597285
Yeah the pi isn't getting enough power to output correctly try plugging in a keyboard and mouse and seeing if they work correctly at the same time as the screen
