I remember my queen and her name is Maki Nishikino
ITT: we try to get the lowest amount of packages possible.
By switching to Devuan and removing clutter (dictionaries, post-setup tools, etc) and installing PekWM instead of Openbox, I'm able to get to 301 packages.

Anyone else getting a bunch of "it looks like someone's trying to gain access to your account so we reset your password" emails lately? Got one from microsoft of all people. Went directly to microsoft.com and I got the same message when I logged in so it wasn't phishing.
>>56220024
They got your digits brotendo. It's either sudoku or jail now for you.
RIP OP
Well, whoever's doing this, they're bad at their jobs. They haven't actually gotten access to anything.

Why can WebMs not be encoded in VP9 for use on 4chan?
>>56220000
VP8 is more widely supported.
>>56220000
4chan is well behind the times in this regard. I believe (4+2+2)chan has been supporting it for a while with no difficulty.
>>56220833
Only Safari doesn't support VP9 and they don't support WebM at all. YouTube has been running VP9 without any problems for years.
>>56220000
Encoding VP9 on hardware weaker than say a desktop core i7 is a total bitch.
If 4chan used VP9 exclusively, half the content on /wsg/ and /gif/ simply would never be created.
Now with VP10 or that merged project Google and a few others were working on there might be a difference. Hopefully the encoding times would not be as abysmal as they are now.
Probably going to be exiled as a result of asking for tech support, yet I figured /g/ would be my best bet. My laptop has come to the point where every time I power it on, it boots a screen similar to this (pardon my crude Paintshop rendering of this, for I couldn't find a proper image online), goes through the initial startup sequence to only blue screen and crash without fail; an endless cycle. I can start it up through Safe Mode and navigate enough to backup all my files on an external hard drive, yet that's about it. I tried ordering a new hard drive because my laptop has eaten though several of those things throughout the years, so I assumed that's what it was. Put a new hard drive in, load the OS, does absolutely nothing in solving either the red lines on the boot up screen or the constant climax of blue screening/crashing.
Scale of 1-10, how fucked is this thing /g/?
Is it repairable?
backup your shit your mobo is fucked
GPU/mainboard is fucked.
Could also be the RAM, but probably not.

Could he reverse engineer the 32bit versions of Windows, if he had motivation to?
>>56219793
The window's own software engineers can't, so no I doubt it. Requesting the screen cap of the windows developer telling /g/ the 20-step trial-and-error process required to add a dropdown menu.
>>56219793
Probably could make something that looks and acts just like it (including based pinball), but guaranteeing compatibility with existing windows software would be almost impossible.
>>56219793
>Can't even make network stack
>reverse engineer 32bit windows
lmao

Welcome to /fglt/ - Friendly GNU/Linux Thread.
Users of all levels are welcome to ask questions about GNU/Linux and share their experiences.
*** Please be civil, notice the "Friendly" in every Friendly GNU/Linux Thread. ***
Before asking for help, please check our list of resources[*].
If you would like to try out GNU/Linux you can do one of the following:
0) Install a GNU/Linux distribution of your choice in a Virtual Machine using VirtualBox or other software made for this puporse for safety purposes.
1) Use the Live ISO (if your distribution of choice has one) to boot directly into the GNU/Linux distribution without installing anything, that way, you can get to experience the GNU/Linux operating system without installing it.
2) Dual boot the GNU/Linux distribution of your choice along with Windows or macOS, this is recommended if you want to know more about the GNU/Linux operating system.
3) Go balls deep and replace everything with GNU/Linux.

searx is the only one I know of which provides source code, doesn't mean that the servers run the same code, but well. there are also TOR services, check their github
So how long until we win the fight against windows 10 and MS caves and makes it like 7?

Hey /g/ what's so great about Thinkpads?
>muh l33t hax0r anti-chicket, counter-trend keyboard
I like my t420 since it is durable, has easily-serviceable parts, and a lot of Linux support. I really have no complaints besides the CD drive being touchy in terms of ejecting
But that's just my opinion.
/g/ likes memes, so naturally they will get a meme laptop.
The sensible choice is of course a macbook pro.
Are there any good old animation programs that i can download and run on windows 8?
Research the animator that did Ren & Stimpy. He's now doing adult swim bumps, and of course using new software(which you might need), but still encompasses the 90's vibe.
Or buy an Amiga computer.
Well, ren & stimpy is 2D, I might want to make some 3D animations too
>>56219692
Blender lol XD
More seriously though, get dosbox and run 3D Studio or an early version of Maya.
Lightwave or Infini-D if you can find an old copy work as well.
I spilled coke on my laptop last night and today it won't turn on. What can I do?
