Are chinese smart phones good enough?
does anyone on /g/ have any experience with them

okay so since 2016 iv gone through a samsung s6, and an iphone 6 plus
both had faults after 4 months of use, had basic phone issues with (battery, simcard) etc

im thinking about just getting a $100 chinese smartphone to browse, text make calls with

how durable are these things will it last more than 4 months before i have to take it back
>>
You're just asking for trouble. Exploding batteries, breaking screens...
Just save, buy an iPhone7 and move on. Really, oinstead of buyuing two chinese phones per year, some operators allows you to RENT it, which is cheaper.

A xiaomi redmi 3s or the new redmi 4 is cheap as shit, reliable as a tank and has plenty power to do everything you need. Don't be a cuck like >>57694059

Hardware is great although the UI is shit, and there's chink spyware.

Only a handful of chink phones support ATT 4g LTE. Wish more did.

Using an oukitel k6000 pro here.
It's nice for the price, but nothing fantastic. Usually battery lasts me 3 days with almost 4 hours SoT a day.

Idiot. If you're having physical issues with brand phones, do you suddenly expect 100 Dollar phones to just work?

Really, you're fucking daft mate.

Get a Huawei or Honor phone and call it a day. Also fuck off to the /spg/ next time you have a question regarding shopping advice.
>>

Exactly great power to price ratio and trust its pretty smooth I am using redmeme note 3 with cm. The stock UI was smooth but didn't wanna take any chances so got rid of it

Any recommendations on a chinkphone for around 100 or so? If so, how would I go about buying it? Amazon's only got but so many phones listed.
>>
>>57690966
They're great as long as they have official CM support. Choose a modem that does and you won't have problems. Here's what's wrong with their stock ROMs:

Chinese company installed secret backdoor on hundreds of thousands of phones
http://arstechnica.com/security/2016/11/chinese-company-installed-secret-backdoor-on-hundreds-of-thousands-of-phones/

"These devices actively transmitted user and device information including the full-body of text messages, contact lists, call history with full telephone numbers, unique device identifiers [...] The firmware also collected and transmitted information about the use of applications installed on the monitored device, bypassed the Android permission model, executed remote commands with escalated (system) privileges, and was able to remotely reprogram the devices"

Second Chinese Firm in a Week Found Hiding Backdoor in Firmware of Android Devices
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/second-chinese-firm-in-a-week-found-hiding-backdoor-in-firmware-of-android-devices/

"According to Anubis, multiple smartphones models from BLU Products are the most affected [...] Other vendors such as Infinix Mobility, DOOGEE, LEAGOO, IKU Mobile, Beeline, and XOLO, are also affected."

It is simple, guys: do not trust the chinks, do not trust their phones.

>>
I bought a Redmi Note 3 SE last month. It's a good phone, can handle anything I've thrown at it. It's screen is OK but not great, camera is poor but I don't care about the camera, doesn't have some pretty basic features now like Quick or Qi charging, no NFC. Does have a fingerprint sensor which is nice. Casing is pretty shit too I guess.

For the £150 I spent it's incredible. I could've spent £800 or whatever on the Pixel XL but this made more sense to me.

So you literally have no response to my points and are here to shitpost?

This is why no one takes you seriously.

Name 5 modern, easily accessible to buy smartphones, that aren't "botnet" by the standards of you morons.

Even your fucking HDDs and SSDs have their own firmware. They are capable of getting infected with a virus. They could be spying on you even more easily than a smartphone.

Your narrow minded ignorance is shocking. We live in a digital age where prices drop because our personal information is a new currency.
Deal with it, or unplug yourself from the 21st century.
>>
>>57696430
Not an argument.
>>
>>57696479
I have literally no response? I've made 10 posts with real arguments and you're defending your position on increased governement surveillance by not true Scotsman fallacies (aka attacking imaginary arguments) and now ad hominem attacks. I shouldn't even be responding to you, but I guess there may be some reasonable people that are not just here for the memes.
>Name 5 modern, easily accessible to buy smartphones, that aren't "botnet" by the standards of you morons.
>Even your fucking HDDs and SSDs have their own firmware. They are capable of getting infected with a virus. They could be spying on you even more easily than a smartphone.
You're discussing hypothetical situations. We all know that absolute privacy is impossible and we've also been witnessing a rise of tools by which we can protect our privacy to the maximum possible extent. What's wrong with that? And again, name one good reason to just give in and provide as much data as possible as opposed to providing as little data as possible? I suppose you've heard of CM, Copperhead OS, GNU/Linux distros, Tails, Whonix, etc. And it's not like I haven't made this arguments before. Here's a video that might change your stance on caring about being surveilled:

Not an argument. Your merely trying to push your opinion without backing it with factual evidence.

I'm not here to listen to your opinion, if you can't tell me why the chink botnet matters more than the American one or the Google botnet or Apple or any other fucking botnets then fuck off.

You've done nothing to back your argument up, instead resorting to shitposting, attempting to propagate your extremely bias and unwelcome opinion, and fall back on your "scottsman fallacies".

I'm sorry anon, I thought you were smart enough to backup an argument you chose.
I was mistaken.

Ps. Good job glossing over my post and not replying to half of it. Most likely not because you didn't want to, but because you're intellectually incapable of doing so.

Let's say I didn't make any real arguments. How would you convince me that I should just give in and decide to embrace government surveillance? I'm interested in your reasoning.
