So I bought a RX 580.

I have two monitors hooked up to it and the memory clock is maxed out and the GPU is idling at 45+°c.

Aparently this is normal for AMD cards because they need to do it to run two monitors.

Thing is when I first installed it this didn't happen. Non of my Nvidia cards have done this, non of my previous AMD cards have done this. My intergrated gpu on my 2500k could run my dual monitors ffs. Why the fuck does AMD do this with the 580?

I wouldn't mind but the increased temp causes the fans to kick up and makes my pc louder.

Has this happened to anyone else? Is there a fix?

Nothing is running in the background to cause this either before anyone asks.

you are doing something wrong nigger.
>>
>>60039113
idling at 45c a problem????
the fans are probably turned off or really low RPM
>>
>>60039236
Nope
>>60039272
No, that is the problem, the fans are spinning higher than normal because the temps are higher due to the memory clock being maxed.

Google 'amd dual monitor memory clock' it is a common thing.

Only thing is it wasn't doing it when I first installed the card. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers several times.

I'm just wondering if anyone els has had this happen.

FOSS or runs on Linux?

You're fucked on FOSS. If you just need it to run on Linux and don't give a shit about licensing, you have Lightworks and DaVinci Resolve, but they're professional tools with professional learning curves.

I've been a linux-tard for a while, and I realized I never had the chance of installing a Window ISO.

How does one install a Windows 7 ISO, is it as easy as burning it into a USB and plugging it in.
What if they ask for keys?

Yep.

I'm not sure. I have a Win8 VM, and it's key is invalid, and it's only asked me to authorize it once in two months.

Is there an app for iOS or Android that uses machine learning to improve auto brightness by learning a users ideal brightness at different sensor readings? Kind of like Nest but for phone screen brightness.
9 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
>>60038680
why, are you not capable of adjusting brightness yourself?
>>
>>60038788
Obviously I could, but I'd rather have it be done automatically, and every phone I've had (have used Android, BB10, and iPhone at this point) does a shit job of it.

Proprietary code is evil, binary blobs are evil, because you have no control of what is running on YOUR hardware, hardware YOU PURCHASED. What is so hard to understand about that ? It is YOUR HARDWARE, not Intel's, not Microsoft's, Apple's, the NSA's or GHCQ's ... it is yours.

/pcbg/ - PC Building General-- sunday
Post your component list, rate other anons', ask questions.

State the purpose of your PC, your budget, AND YOUR COUNTRY if outside the USA.
If you are asking for improvements, clarify whether you want to lower price or improve specs.
List the games or software you use most often.
Use common sense and put some effort into your queries.
GOOGLE IT FIRST

>Assemble your parts list with price comparisons by vendor and compatibility filter.
https://pcpartpicker.com
>General build advice including chipset compatibility, power supply advice (which is pretty outdated/shit), Windows activation information.
http://pastebin.com/F9diF2hA (embed)
>Semi-outdated information about how to assemble a PC, how to select components, etc.
https://wiki.installgentoo.com/index.php/Build_a_PC

>Pentium G4560 remains the best if your budget is only around $500.
>The Ryzen 1700 is the only R7 worth purchasing.
>i5 edges out R5 for gaming, R5 wins in apps.
>i3 are no longer worth getting with zero exceptions. The budget choice is the G4560. Otherwise get an i5/r5.
>Whoever saying locked i5s were useless were hedging on great R5 performance... oh well.
>The R5 1600 is the best all around chip for the price, it's a better choice than an R7 for gaming.
>SSDs are worth it. Expensive SSDs aren't worth it.
>RX 500 series around 10% better than 400s
>for budget builds, consider a mATX setup for case/mobo savings

There's been a huge upswing in disinformation in these threads, and in the community in general. At the end of the day, YOU are the one who loses if you take bad advice.

Is it possible to learn and live off programing if you are 26 and have literally 0 knowledge about it?
8 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
No, the time when you could easily learn new things is behind you.

Go work hard labor, that's all you'll ever be good at, assuming you're able-bodied and don't have a physical deformity preventing you from working.
>>
>>60037698
Yes, all you need is interest in it. Like any skill programming too can be learnt as long as learning is possible at all.

It might become marginally slower over time, but certainly possible.
>>
Not sure if troll but go learn some python right now. It's easy, if you can play video games, you can write python.

Make a goal like, "I'm going to write a dice roller for dungeons and dragons."

Pick a small project, install python, read learn python the hard way.

Once you understand python, learn some javascript and start making sites in the MEAN stack, or django.

Literally all you have to do is tell yourself you can do it, and sit down for 15 minutes a day.

It's like exercise, CAN it improve your life, yes. Without any work from you? No, probably not.

Go do it right now, or you never will.

Hey /g/ I'm looking for some advice on a good computer buy or what components I should be looking at. The last rig I built was about five years ago so I'm a little out of touch on what's the good stuff on the market right now. Trying to keep it at $1200 or lower, running games on ultra settings would be nice. Thanks for any help.
