Don't know if these kind of threads are allowed but I'll give it a shot.

My 10-year-old LaserJet P2015d has conked out. What's a good equivalent printer to get today to replace it with?

I'm just looking for a good utilitarian monochrome laser printer. Simplex printing is fine. Wireless would be nice. Any recommendations?

bought one this past week and cannot for the life of me get it to work on windows 10. plug and play's perfectly fine on W7 & Linux, can't seem to figure out a way for it to do anything on W10. just displays a blank black screen, tried registry fix that I found on google, since W10 anniversary update "broke" peoples webcams, but it still doesn't work.

any idea? anyone dealt with this shit? please tell me

Hey /g/uys I'm visiting from another board and was wondering if any of you know of a good deal on a gaming desktop with moderately good specs. I would prefer it to have at least 8 gigs of RAM and a dedicated graphics card. Cheaper is better and it doesn't have to look like a Kit from Knight rider although I don't mind if it does. If you know of a good deal link it. I am eternally grateful.

I can write basic scripts in web dev languages. I know the basics of how web applications work.

What resources can I look at to understand and be able to build fairly complex websites that would for example allow different types of users to register and to post things/sign up for events on the site? Where do I find what that is called and the best practices for such stuff?

Hi /gentoo/men

I am on the fence about the Nexus 5 or 5X, I don't know which one to pick.

I feel that the 5 is better, although it is older. I want an unlocked bootloader, good price and a good quality. I don't have a SINGLE USB-C cable around the house, so it seems that the 5 is a better option. Plus, the wireless charging would be quite welcome.

Anyone got experience with both? Care to elaborate on your feelings?

Any help appreciated.

What is it?
On notebooks, sometimes the screen gets blank and the system unresponsive after closing and opening the lid(screen).

Why happens?
It's a bug on lightlocker(the screen locker), I still don't know exactly where and I'm not super excited to search for it.

How to fix it?
Uninstall lightlocker and install other screen locker. Examples:
xscreensaver(awfully ugly but good)
i3lock(really simple but A E S T H E T I C S with some teaks)

Spread the word.

Can someone shed some light on these questions?

- Being that i haven't had windows update on for 2 years how big of a file size total of updates can i expect? (e.g. 2GB/3GB??)

- There was a period where windows 10 was free and during that period windows update forced you to download a Copy of windows 10 on your HDD and also rigged it so that it would automatically install if you idle too long OR if you selected the "X" button that was supposed connect to install windows 10.

So, is the bullshit over with the GWX crap that pesters you every now and then to upgrade to windows 10? I wanna catchup on all those important security patches, hotfixes, and Office 2010 pro plus hotfixes and stability fixes for windows and what not without having to worry about windows10 extras or popups. can someone with 8.1x64 windows confirm this??

i live on a 15th floor. can i use a big antenna so i can connect to my network when i'm on the ground floor?

i've read that my cellphone is not going to be able to send signals to my router because it doesn't have a big antenna. now, can't i connect a big antenna to my router that listens for signals very far away?

Got this bad boy in 2011, and it still shits on your Lenegro Cuckpad and crapbook pro. Put a Samsung 840 Pro SSD in here removed all bloat, and its fucking ungodly fast even by todays standards. I fell for the meme and got a surface pro 4, and it just collects dust because I would rather use this laptop. I doubt a laptop will ever be made that can compete with the comfiness of this thing.
