SS is the best beginner program there is for functional strength, which seems to be your goal.
It only has a reputation as a meme program because people expect to get aesthetic off of it.
Actually buy the book, read it, and don't pussy out on the power cleans for rows.
I'm 6'8" and did it and went from 185 to 235.
It's a squat focused program, so most of the size will be put on to your legs, which is a good thing if your interest is athletics.

I've been cutting since November and I've lost about 20 lbs. It's been a pretty slow cut and I've been lifting 3 times a week and doing interval training on the stair master at a fairly intense level 3 times a week. I've recently started getting weaker and my weight loss is stalling as well. My endurance is noticeably down too. What do?

Oh and my stats are 5'10 176 currently eating 2200 cals a day and I'm around 15-17% bf. My goal weight is around 165 where I should be closer to 11%. Also weirdly, I haven't done any cardio this past week and I've been consistently eating above my Intake goals by a considerable amount and I still managed to lose a tiny bit of weight. Should I increase or decrease my cals? Or should I stop doing cardio or tone down the intensity?
