Hey /ck/
I'm thinking of making cinnamon ice cream.
I'm wondering what flavor I should add to it.
I don't really like the idea of just cinnamon flavored ice cream

Tips on eating on a budget? How can I have a balanced diet while not killing my wallet?
16 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
Oats
Rice
Beans
Frozen fruit & veg
DIY Almond milk (1kg of almonds can make enough milk to last 2 weeks, depending on your country this could be cheaper than cow milk overrall)
>>
What I used to do was buy ground turkey, quinoa, black beans, onions and bell peppers with some cumin and cilantro. Cook it up in quantity and use it as basic for lunch everyday. Could be better but when you are on a hard budget, do what you have to do.
>>
This is gonna sound condescending, but it's honestly not meant that way. The simplest most concise answer to "how do I eat on a budget?" is "learn to cook, faggot." Then cook. And eat what you cook. After that, the rest will follow.

My dinner tonight, for example, was a mixed veg Japanese-style curry and some garlic fried rice.
Total cost: 71¢.

My lunch was pork-and-mushroom cabbage rolls in sour tomato gravy and parsley potatoes.
Total cost: 92¢

Breakfast was a pair of tartines on homemade bread and coffee with milk.
Total cost: 65¢

And had two glasses of homemade iced tea today.
Total cost: 8¢

That's $2.36 on food for the day. T'ain't bad.

Had I bought a bagel with cream cheese and jam and a coffee with milk out somewhere, that alone would have cost around double what I spent on today's meals and several times more than what my breakfast actually cost me.

It's a deep fried something. Impossible to say exactly without seeing the interior. It could be just dough or it could contain some sort of filling.
>>
>>7851453
Covered in powdered sugar? probably cream at the bottom of the glass.
>>
>>7851474

Yeah, the white stuff is probably sugar, so it's probably a dessert of some sort. Could be a "doughnut hole". Could be Sata Andagii. Could be any number of sweet things that were battered and fried.

Sup /ck/, I have a question for the bean wizards here. I would have posted in the beans&rice thread but it seems I just missed it D:

I soaked about 3 cups of beans overnight in a large pot of water, then placed them in the crockpot on high and covered with some veg broth and seasonings for about 4 hours now. I've taken some out to mash, and they're still fairly firm.

So my question today is this: How does one make soft beans? Could this be a result of using old (possibly older than a year?) beans? pls advise.
16 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
I guess crock pot takes longer? Beans usually take only a few hours when I boil stovetop or bake. Boiling covered makes them softer faster than boiling uncovered, obviously.
>>
Well, I left them on a bit longer (2-3hr), and it hasnt seemed to help :(
>>
>>7849746
Your water is too hard, hard water equals hard beans, regardless of how long you soak and cook. You have to add baking soda and salt to the water at the right proportions, sodium carbonate can also help. Here are some links, but you will find even more information on Google.

Are they served cold or room temperature?
How do I store them?
How many should I buy, knowing there will be a portion for two people?
What flavors?
>>
>>7848519
Cold.
In the fridge in tupperware or, if you're a tryhard, paper bag stacked in two layers at most.
Between 6 and 10 depending. If you're not an asshole, make them yourself.
Lemon, coconut, vanilla, strawberry. They're supposed to be light and sweet, so it's good to stick to flavours that work with that

So we are out of ideas for food for our games night. I was going to ask /tg/ but figured I would get better responses here than rainbow Brownies. Our usual fare is jalopano Popper's,wings, spinich/artichocke/tiziki/Buffalo dips, sliders. All good stuff bit would like some new ideas with a dash of health consideration

So you usually eat trash? How about queso dip made with RoTel tomatoes and Velveeta cheese? Chili dogs made with Hormel chili? Tacos made from an Otrega kit? Frozen supreme pizza undercooked in your oven, then dunked in ranch dressing?

For healthy just open a bag of salad that no one will eat.
