Hello /biz/,

so I'm planning on creating a fashion product that uses images of copyright work. Without revealing too much, I'll use DBZ as an example.

How are businesses legally allowed to sell Dragon Ball Z merchandise without receiving a licenses or approval to do so from it's content creators? Would incorporating the cartoon's images on a t-shirt constitute fair use?

Anyone with experience regarding copyright law or a similar scenario?

Anyone? :(

I've been curious about this too. I know sports teams are a big no but I see shit like bands and cartoons on shirts for sale online a lot.
>>
>>1111578
I'm starting to think that it constitutes fair use because its sufficiently transformative from it's original medium.

How does artist go about getting their art sold for lots of money?

Scarcity is key..

Look at someone like David Choe. He has ton's of videos online and tells how he did it. He is basically a degenerate artist who painted the Facebook building but he was a millionaire before then.
>>
>>1110290
make sure nobody has done it before and make sure it has a deep meaning. it doesn't matter what it is. Also get connections, if someone sees your art and says "oh hes friends with shlomo sheklestein" you'll have a better chance at selling it for at least a gorillian dollars.

Seriously though the connections are pretty key in my opinion. I don't know much about the art world, so I could be giving you some pretty shitty advice. But since it is a very competitive market to me connections seems like the best thing to have.
>>
But is there like a step by step process? Like for job seekers fill out apps online go to interviews etc...
Is there something like that for artists? Like should you just go to random studios and ask all them if they ll sell your art?

Guess who has a degree in economics? That's right, the man himself. All of you saying its a meme degree, how stupid do you feel now? You just have to have top business acumen and the millions will come.

True that.

He started of like the average american. His father gave him a small loan of a million dollars. He came into Manhattan and he started buying properties, and he did great.

I agree with sentiment but trump isn't the best example of self made. He had advantages most of us don't so I wouldn't base my life plan on him kek.

He's going to be the next president though.

Right. Great man but better examples for rags-to-riches capitalists would come from Shark Tank and the likes.

Is there a service online that automates customer billing?

As in let's say my client owes me $100

is there a service that bills him $50 twice a month and collects interest or sends the outstanding balance to collections if the client fails to pay?

So what's the catch?

Yes I know all mailer programs/envelope stuffing things are scams, but are these guys just flat out lying about what will happen if you send them money? What will actually happen?

I'm thinking about using a card to pay 99$ and just see what happens and easily cancel the transaction if it turns up to be bullshit.
6 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
Looks waaaaay too good to be even remotely true. I really wonder if people genuinely fall for it.
>>
>>1112561
Would there be any drawbacks to using a card and then just disputing the transaction later? I mean they even accept PayPal.
>>
>>1112568
PayPal is generally easy to talk with as a costumer in my experience, so it really shouldn't be too hard to annul any transactions.

I got a position as a coordinator at the same company my father works for. It isn't what I want to do as a career, and I've been having a lot of guilt over being hired and been having thoughts like,

>"You were only hired because of who your father is"
>"All taking a position at your father's company proves is that you're unemployable anywhere else"
>"You're depriving someone who really cares about your line of work of their big break"
>"You'll never be a man at this job. You'll always be your Daddy's Boy."

How do I deal with the guilt that I have and not let it get in the way at work?

OP, just muddle through for awhile until you have a chance to do what you really want to do. There are alot of people who are handed jobs and never do the introspective you're doing. You're already ahead of those assholes. Keep working towards your goals and you'll leave them in the dust.

This week, Google added a 4th advertisement above the normal search results.

Search for "mortgage" for example, and the entire visible page is ads or Google products (Google maps in this case). You have to scroll down to see the first actual search result. More examples: "car insurance" or "lawyers"

Search for "email" and Google put's their own product as the #1 result. Search for "video" and Google has their own product as #1 and #2, plus the rest of the results are just Youtube aggregators for the most part. There's more: "shopping", "news", "maps", "browser", "apps".

Bing and Duckduckgo barely register as competition. Why is the Google search monopoly allowed to exist?

How long will it be until the entire first search results page is entirely ads?

I don't get how people can still use Google when they have the strangest tendency to fuck people over without lubricant.

Pic related is my experience, but other fun facts include that Google pays 2.4% tax rate on its income, and the former CEO said if you don't want people to know what you are doing you shouldn't do it.

I was here last year when i got very good tip to buy ETH and made a pretty nice buck out of it. So here is me giving back.

I heard that SC(siacoin) is going to triple in the coming month or so, from a legit source. Don't wait for it as with ETH until it's too late

What do you call the practice of organizing and supporting some hobby in your community, as well as helping others to get into this hobby with one of the goals being selling stuff related to the said hobby to that community to make a profit?

Isn't that just what every single hobby-store does? Just a regular variant of advertising.

I figured /biz/ would know best. So I'm 23 and have been working as an industrial engineer at a major auto manufacturer for almost 2 years. I hate it. Right now I am aiming for a position at a consulting firm (Deloitte, Accenture), but I got to thinking about what I really wanted out of all these and what is most important. Yes, I like money but my time and freedom are the most valuable assets I have. My long term plan is to be able to work remotely atleast 90% of the time while I travel, camp, make films or do whatever the fuck I want. I figure the easiest way to achieve that is to become proficient in a few programing languages geared towards enterprise.

So, which programming languages are highly marketable and will be semi future proof?

I have taken courses in C++ and some database theory as well as SQL so I'm not completely novice. JavaScript seems interesting.
7 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
depends what you want to do. java is generally the most marketable as it applies to pretty much every business running a web application.

c++ is more for performance heavy applications or embedded systems
>>
Python. Useful in the real world an a cinch to learn.
>>
SQL.

Either build applications designed to provide data ... or provide data.

The latter is safer, it's recession proof and it frequently pays better.

I don't know where else to turn.

My mom is being forced out of the home I was raised in. I've moved out, but I still live close to her. She's stayed in the same apartment for over 20 years.

We live in Los Angeles in a rent-controlled building. The building was sold recently and the new owner is trying to force everyone out of their homes.

He's let the building go to shit. The plants are dying, the pool is filthy, the leaves from trees are collecting on the ground. He's going to people's homes at night to try and intimidate them out.

Legally, what can I do?
I'm still on the lease and I want to protect my mom and the other people living there.
What is a good source for legal information on a topic like this?
How can I fight this and how much would it cost to fight something like this?

I'm sorry if this isn't the board for this. I don't know where else to go, and I figured business is often related to knowing legal issues.

>>
Hm idk maybe you can get a free legal consultation from a property lawyer, I doubt anyone here really knows any specifics as to what you can do.
>>
As your attorney I advise you to stop renting like a faggot & go buy a home.
>>
>>1111978
I bet you're one of those berniefag gimmedats too, thinking you're entitled to an apartment instead of paying for one on the free market.

Anyway, the solution is simple. Just invest your money on the stock market and then use your earnings to pay for rent.
