I'm think of going without food for a couple of months in order to save money. This is because my rent is nearly 65% of my salary that I barely have enough to pay my bills and taxes.

So how long can I survive with just water and perhaps 1 meal every few days?

>>
I'm doing one small meal a day and I feel like dying sometimes... Try stuffing yourself with cheap.rice and tortillas
>>
Put a pork hock, veggies, beans, and salt and pepper in a slow cooker for a few hours. Serve over rice. Pretty much will feed you for less than a dollar a day.

Is house flipping a viable job?

If you are good at painting over shitty cardboard and have an eye for adding stuff retards would want and have no consciousness, sure. Personally, I will think you are scum, but why should you care about that.
>>
>>1839903
Hell yeah my dude, but you need a few skills to make it profitable, if you need to hire people to do stuff you already lost most of your profit.

Most important you need to be good painting, that's easy, have an eye for detail like decorations and stuff people will dig, the kind of shit that makes a shit apartment look cool, you need to be a bit of an electrician to install sockets replace lamps, fix minor shit because if you have to hire one you will barely make any profit.

My stepdad is a bricklayer and a bit of a handyman he has worked with electricians and has learned he made millions flipping houses in Australia, later he started buying big properties and making duplexes, just supervising and shit. Profitable af

Consider the risks first.
One loss can wipe out a year of profit.
Two consecutive losses can bankrupt you.

Also depends on the country if it's viable or not.

I'm 23 and tired of working at dead end jobs, I want to start a lawn/house care business but have no experience. Where do i start?

Get a job with a home/ lawn care business, learn the drill and then after a month or so start your own business, by then you should have an idea of what it takes to start a bussines, get client and be successful in that field.

how fucked are people to even post this

This movie really inspired me to start a business of my own. It seems having rich friends will be an important part of it since you could get away with paying them less equity than a professional VC would offer you.

How does one go about making rich friends?

How? Not gonna happen for you in this life. Your kids maybe. Marry a girl from a rich family, maybe she not too pretty.

Have 8 kids with her and send em to Harvard.

Join the military as an officer.

If you inherit let's say $1 million, can't you basically get a yearly salary for the rest of your life if you invest it?
At a very wishful interest rate of 10%, you can put the 1 million in the bank and be taking out 100,000 every year, so you basically have a free salary right?
This seems too easy to be true.

>>1839847
What bank is going to pay you 10%? You have to risk potentially losing your money to make 10%.
What if you invested your 1 million into stocks in 2007? Then you would've lost a significant portion of your starting capital. You could possibly be down to $500,000 or less and earning very minor dividends, maybe 5% if you're lucky.

You're also not accounting for taxes.

So yeah it's a nice way to go, but not foolproof. basing 100% of your income on $1 mil isn't great unless you have a lot saved up to get you through downturns.
>>
>>1839847
you would be better off with 1mil in debt :^)

Alright then let's say it's more reasonably 2% or something, you still get practically a free $20,000 on top of your current salary every year. That's like, free groceries forever. Investing is awesome dude

So I applied for options trading with TD Ameritrade and got tier 3, but I used half baked info to do that. I kinda realized what I did and changed my info to be more accurate (net worth by ~30%, trading experience etc.).

Should I be worried? Can I un-apply and reapply with more accurate info? I'd rather not make moves using an accnt that is built on a not so truthful application.

Any advice? Am I fucked? Is everything ok?

I asked them to remove margin from my account so hopefully that solves everything. I just don't want to fuck around with lying financially.

I have a question about something on my credit report.

A few years ago (2014) I saw a doctor and forgot to pay the bill, now I have a ding on my credit report for $50. Is it better to pay this and leave it as closed or should I call them and ask to handle it a different way?

Depends on what state you live in..

I'm in California. So If I had a bill over 4 years old it can be cleared by law after that time period.

Check your state laws...

But also try what I did. just start calling the credit agencies, Equifax, Transunion and Experian. Challenge the bill say you don't agree with them and want it removed. Many times they will just remove it. Sometimes you get a certain Indian guy on the phone who will just remove it right away for nothing.

For my state it says 3 years but the state it came from is 5 years. Who wins?

It's happening, probably twice this year, and most of the markets will be fine with it. Uncertaintity is what the markets don't like.

REITs may not like it much

I've been wanting to get into investing for years, and now that I'm finally ready, I have no idea of how to go about it without losing my ass. Are there any infodumps or resources that can help someone like me gain a general understanding as to how markets work and how to read signals?

Also, I fucked up in college and studied the wrong major. Is there any hope for me to make a comfy living in banking, investments or anything related to finance? I have a degree in communication and one year of sales experience.

books are your best resource

read something on the kind of investing you want to do, or a personal finance book like rich dad poor dad
>>
>>1839648
idk what Communications means in your country, but, is there any hope for you getting in to HR or anything like that?

If so, that's probs the route you want to go.

Also for your investing, since you know nothing and you admit it yourself, there is 0% chance you will make money.
Put it in a market wide fund or specific industry fund.e.g. Medical companies if you know a bit about medicine
>>
>>1839654
I'm American, but my degree primarily focused on communication theory and media. HR might be a possibility if I can find a way to break into the field

This might be a dumb question, but where can I access market wide funds and single out specific industries? Just keep on eye on ETFs?

Mostly interested in reducing my income tax, I'm guessing as an employee of an offshore company the money it earns indirectly through my contracts, my indirect income, would not be taxable and only my direct income received from the offshore company would be taxable.

How thin is the line between evasion and avoidance?

Does anybody know linux programs that will give me the cool graphics that I can leave on the screen when I'm not at home to make all my flatmates think I'm rich? I trade with fidelity and robinhood right now, and the only cool chart I use is https://www.tradingview.com/ but it's in the browser so that's instantly -1 style points

I know of fxtrader on windows for forex, but anything good on linux?
