What exactly am I looking at here? This is thousands of small millipedes that have drowned? Did someone dump these or is this natural?

Hey /an/. I'm really frustrated right now so I thought I'd try and get some of this off my chest and make a thread for those with similar stories.

My family's 16 year old cat is dying. They left him alone without a sitter for a week then came back on Sunday and noticed he hadn't eaten at all. Now its Tuesday, he's completely collapsed and will probably die in a few hours but they still refuse to take him to the vet to end his suffering. I've offered to pay for the euthanasia as soon as I found out but they refused. I live hundreds of miles away and wouldn't make it in time to take him even if they would let me. I feel so helpless. This isn't even the first childhood pet I've had to hear died an agonizing death because of their ignorance and selfishness and I'm just so angry.

I'll miss you buddy. Pic looks like him when he was younger and healthy.

Same with me, my mother wouldn't let me buy crickets for my fish once making it starve (it was a killifish). My dad was working at construction longer than usual and didn't come home until 3 hours after he died. My dad was a chill guy and would take me out to buy the crickets.

Also, i noticed in all these stories it almost always is the mother's or sibling's fault.

Not really. No more than your average stray dog anyway. Even large lizards like monitors are much more likely to run away from you than try to fight.

No. It's a giant fat iguana, not an alligator, at worse you'll just get an infected bite.

My cat keeps following me and bothering me, it is really annoying and she keeps rubbing her face on my leg, as if she is attached to me. I play with her and feed her, but she keeps on following me and annoying me a lot. she wont leave me alone. She does not attack me, she just likes my comfort. How can I get her away from me? keep in mind, she is not a kitten.

Why did you get a cat if you're annoyed by them being affectionate and attached to you? What did you expect?

Anyways, to solve your problem, get over it

Let's have thread to talk about and discover animal themed video games, may they be simulation, management, virtual pet games etc...

Pic related, SimPark was one of the first video game i ever had. You had to manage your own natural park, buy animals, place the right kind of plants to prevent them to starve, and buy entertainment structures for the visitors. You also had a minigame to discover new species, closely inspired by basic scientific methods.

I can also think about spore, zoo tycoon, sims pet expansion, nintendogs... any other ideas?

zoo tycoon complete collection was my favorite

I'd just fuck around in the kids park, was never that creative with exhibit designs though lol

Odell Down Under is a game where you play as a fish of your choice, avoiding predators and eating smaller fish that match your fish's diet.

Loved playing this as a kid, taught me the names of so many fish.

You can get it for Windows and Mac

How can I cut down on costs for taking care of a rabbit?

My girlfriend has a Holland lop and is having trouble taking care of it financially. I usually so most of the caretaking (which I don't mind at all because I love the thing) but I can't really help.

What kind of cage is it being housed in? If you can, cheapest thing to do is get an Expen and place it somewhere on hard floors, and let it live in the expen. Put down newspaper to absorb piss and put fleeces/blankets on top, shake the fleeces out every so often and wash them as needed. The newspaper should be changed at least every third day. If you can't use an Expen, look into C&C cages. Very inexpensive and since it's diy very customizable. Do the same shit with the bedding; use newspaper and linens and just clean often. Never ever buy the disposable bedding like carefresh and wood shavings if possible, because there are much cheaper methods.

Buy Timothy hay in bulk if possible. It gets extremely cheap In larger quantities. Don't waste money on food with dried fruit and Timothy hay in it, it's unnecessary. If you want to have Timothy hay mixed in the food, get the hay dust at the bottom of the bag and use that. I'd advise getting a litter box or shoe box or something, keep a litter shredded newspaper or pine shavings at the bottom to soak up piss, and fill it with Timothy hay. When it's soiled or out of hay, toss it all and repeat.

Get your own greens from outside (check to see what they can and can't eat) and also shop smart too. Buy veggies that are in season, see if they have any that have gone too ripe and are willing to part with(not rotten though, bunnies can still get sick.) And buy in bulk whenever possible.

My cockatiel Vasko just died at the age of 16
Funny how it happens so fast.
Only a week ago he was just "Old man Vasko". I expected him to live to at least 20.

Yesterday he was at the bottom of his cage all day, and was falling asleep constantly. I checked what could be the cause and said I would take him to the vet in a couple of days.
Today he was vomiting after drinking water, his girlfriend, a corella even went to comfort him at that point.

I come home from the gym and he's dead. Happened all very fast. Had him basically all my life, life goes on.

RIP Vasko
