Can someone please try to identify this insect?

How have you never seen a mantis?
Cough. Sorry. I meant what 'type' it is.
I knew it was a mantis, but it was smaller than most of the others I've seen.

Wow, that retriever dog sure retrieved that game animal from the water! It's almost as if it were bred for that very purpose!
Should have had the dog leave it the fuck alone after it was pulled from the water. Stressed it to hell and back

Hi I just arrive from Syria and I wonder if I can eat this animal. I don't know which kind of animal is it thaught
>>2434697
>says the animal's name in the name of the image
yes it is edible, but it has no meat on it so I don't know why you'd want to eat it.
>>2434697
They are good in a stew with dumpings. Not much meat worth speaking about.
Some people like their brains poached in butter, but I never cared for the taste.

Hello /an/, could anyone help me find out exactly where the thyroid gland is located in the perch or Perca fluviatilis? I figure it should be along the pharynx?
Bumperino.
>>2434643
Cant help you but im intruiged. Why do you want to find the thyroid gland on a fish?
I have a very reactive GSD. She is fine with strangers unless they come into our house but barks at all dogs.
My neighbors are leaving for a long period of time and wants to give their GSD to me. This is obviously a problem because my GSD is reactive towards dogs.
What would be the best way for our GSDs to become friends?
>>2434500
slow, controlled introduction. If she is especially reactive at home, have them meet at their house, or at a park. Once they have established friendliness in a neutral setting, then try a meeting at your house.
>>2434612
Would a "scent exchange" work well? i.e. Giving both dogs a blanket and then exchanging the blankets every few days so both dogs can in a way smell each other
Telling your neighbours 'No' seems the best option. This is just an accident waiting to happen if you take it in.

Yay
Though not all, and certainly not like OP's pic. Late theropods? yes.

I also think it actually looks pretty cool
How the hell do I kill these fuckers? I bought my dog a flea/tick collar and she's still covered in a shitload of them
Today I gave her a bath with flea/tick shampoo yet a couple hours later I find more live ones on her
Nothing short of a lighter seems to stop these bastards
Am I buying the wrong products? Are these some kind of super ticks? What do?
I belive the best results you can get while you go to your vet every month and use spot on drops. Thicks get used to flea collars and factories don't adopt them soon enaugh. Same with shampoo.
Also remember to protect your dog all the year, if you have even a little break the substance won't work 100% and would be effective after another usage.
Also when you put collar, use shampoo or drips you can't fpr couple of days let your dog bath or get really wet from rain.
What is actually the purpose of ticks on this earth?
They not even usable as bird food.
Fucking shits
To make us scared like a girl every time we find a thick.. :(
Idk how this disease is alled in eng or even if you have it on your region but here there are some places where thicks carry that nasty killing shit.
I walk scared for a month after i find it on my dog.
Like i said netter to use vermtrerinarian stuff than comertial sind the fuckers adopt to it preatty fast. Keep dog dry for couple of days and go to vet for drops regularly.
I keep finding these Fucking things on my floor at night.
Any clues what the hell they are?
They are some kinda larva..
>>2434048
congratulations, your home is infested with maggots
how do you even get to that point
>>2434054
They aren't maggots you freak.
>>2434048
how the fuck are there just maggots on your floor? do you live on a garbage dump?
Looked for an ID thread and can't see one.
Found something today I'm curious about pretty sure it's a grass/funnel weaver and just want confromation.
Location: SW Ontario
Spider made a funnel like web in my window, was active and out at 12pm/70°F.
Camera isn't the best for focusing so I tried Snapchat which is why they're are icons. Only way my camera focuses outdoors.

>pretty sure it's a grass/funnel weaver
It is.
Can I get an ID on this?
>>2434002
Pirate spider. Neat find.
>intelligent (don't really like dumb dogs who have to be treated like puppies forever)
>low energy
>big in size (I live alone and would like to think that maybe he/she could serve as a deterrent)
>not too lazy that it won't be able to come with me on a hiking/camping trip
What would you suggest?
>>2433853
How many hours a day could you devote to exercise? Training? How many hours a day are you gone from home? How strenuous are the hiking trips? Is it important that the dog gets along with other dogs, animals and/or people? What climate do you live in? Would you prefer a dog that sheds or a dog that needs to have it's hair cut? How affectionate do you want a dog to be? How are you with barking, drooling and farting? How much money are you willing to spend to obtain a purebred?
>>2433858
>How many hours a day could you devote to exercise?
I own a small farm. It would have a vast amount of space to roam on and I usually spend 2 hours in the evening tending to the farm, feeding the animals and then walking out back to the crops to do some weeding or whatever. Would that not be enough exercise for it?
>Training?
I'd probably want to try to do it myself even if it takes more time.
>How many hours a day are you gone from home?
9 to 5 job. 8ish hours.
>How strenuous are the hiking trips?
5 to 6 hours of walking/day
>Is it important that the dog gets along with other dogs, animals and/or people?
Other dogs? No.
Animals? Yes. I have goats, raise pigs, ducks, hens, all kinds of big birds actually.
>What climate do you live in?
Cold but not snowy (only snows like two weeks per year). Never gets that hot either.
>Would you prefer a dog that sheds or a dog that needs to have it's hair cut?
Definitely a hair cut.
>How affectionate do you want a dog to be?
The kind that prefers to cuddle and sleep but not the kind that prefers to jump all over you every time you are back from a 5 minutes of absence.
>How are you with barking, drooling and farting?
I tend to way more annoying animals than a dog, lol.
>How much money are you willing to spend to obtain a purebred?
I don't care for purebred. Just want a dog that fits my lifestyle.
>>2433871
Adopting an adult mutt seems like your best bet, anon
Going for specific breeds generally means going for a puppy, which doesn't seem feasible for you
any tip?
>>2433310
Get lube and know the knot.
Make sure to have liability insurance for when it mauls someone

are people who have more sympathy for, and care more about, animals than humans mentally ill?
>>2432966
i think thats objective...
I honestly don't think so...
but i personally care more about animals than humans..
burning building scenario, i would rather rescue 1 animal than 10 humans..
horrible? maybe..
i don't know..
it's not like i wish people getting hurt
and i would feel bad if they got hurt..
but i would still choose an animal over human everyday..
>>2432966
>mentally ill
No, I wouldn't go that far. I believe they have their priorities fucked up, but I wouldn't go as far as to say they are mentally ill.
>inb4 pathetic attempts to justify bad decisions based on being out of touch with reality
I really don't care how you justify being a horrible person, so save the fucking sermon.
OP asked my opinion, and he/she got it.

Anyone who owns or has owned monitor lizards are welcomed.
Whoa your argus monitor has grown, op. I remember pics from last year where she looked half that size.
How affectionate are those, if at all? How do they react to being petted or carried?
>>2432892
Depends on how much you handle them growing up but mine were super affectionate and loved to snuggle on the couch
