I think I have deduced why there is no Mark VIIII power armor. Mark X power armor has the helmet from the Mark IV and the neck collar of the MARK VIII. But they're in a crusade but it's not the Great Crusade so they lack something that the Mark II has. 4+8=12 but 12-2=10. This is the reason why we jumped to where we did.

All characters got more wounds you dishonest faggot, it's not a real buff. D3 damage is NOWHERE near as good as Armorbane, and his useless aura has a laughable range of a SINGLE FUCKING INCH.

Attacking twice is NOT worth losing Armorbane, losing Hatred Incarnate, much less Blessing of the Blood God, one attack and one strenght when all he's got for defense is power armor and a piss-poor 4++ defense when most HQs are always hitting on 2+ which is something only HE could do in the past and was not compensated for despite the points increase. He's MUCH more likely to get killed before his second round of attacks now, thanks a lot for the decreased straight-up lethality.

So what do you think about assault marines without jump packs plus a chaplain riding in a rhino?

Rhinos are too expensive to be battle taxis now for tactical marines, they need to get guys into an assault faster.

I can't say that I spilled the morgs on the intel but when the general population found out there was a great time of mourning.

I don't know what they're teaching hatchlings nowadays.
Well the Sporegorn was the intergalactic equivalent to a flesh eating disease.
They hit a world with one of their egg spores and they multiply and slaughter the inhabitants, dirty reptiles, not clean like us.
Well, the general population requested that we aid the humans in some way.
Seeing that we were their greatest ally and we valued them as great friends.
Of course we wouldn't leave the Humans to be slaughtered, our friendship hand grown too strong to allow that.
I along with other commandos were sent to their home planet, Earth, to help train their soldiers in the same contingency plans we had for Sporegorn invasion.
We gave them old military and civilian ships that we could spare without the Federation noticing.
We gave them large caches of energy weapons. We gave them raw materials so they could maybe hold out longer with out our direct help. That was before the call came for complete retreat.
Apparently the Federation had withdrawn their defensive perimeter around our systems, and refused any contact with us.
We were in the dark and our leaders knew what was coming, we were sold out as more meat to the Sporegorn.

We were alone and afraid.
We knew the Sporegorn were coming for us but we didn't know if they'd hit us or the Humans first so we advised them to hold their territories while we held ours.
Billions of our men were conscripted into the army and navy, we needed more soldiers and even that wasn't enough.
We were pumping out fighter after fighter knowing we would need every thing we could get our hands on.
Then came the message that shook our people to their souls.
The Sporegorn had broken through our weak blockade on an outer system and within a single planetary rotation would be attacking a small colony.
Any ships in the sector were sent to evacuate all the civilians but only a few hundred thousand were saved while millions were slaughtered by a Sporegorn onslaught.
We sent word to the Humans that the Sporegorn attacked us and we received word that they hadn't seen any sign of them.
We warned them to stay in their territory and protect their people no matter what happened.
Blockade after blockade was broken and colonies were either abandoned or slaughtered until eventually the Sporegorn fleet was on the edges of our home system.

Describing them works. You just need to keep at it and get better with experience, maybe also get some better players.

Explain to your players about your 'flavor text' before hand, and there's no issue with you describing the hits and misses.

If your players aren't shitty retards, let them describe their own attacks; give them minimal information if required, ie: 'you wound him slightly' should be enough for a player to describe their own attack without the issue you brought up.

Sure, anyone -can- learn spells and settle conflicts with magic, but it's way easier and cheaper to just learn how to swing a sword around.

Basically the same reason we still have wars and hatred even though science could take us all to space.

Actually if you stop and think about it, learning spells would be way more affordable and easier to learn than learning how to swing a sword around since swordplay requires physique to perform consistently (not to mention the time and costs to not only build muscle but also to manufacture enough swords for each cadets) while magic only requires you to have the intellect to cast and know the right spell components to perform each spell consistently.

Like a wizard can create his own scrolls as long as he has ink, parchment, and XP to spare while a swordsman would require ingots, a forge, and the know-how to properly smith a blade that can be used in combat.

Not to mention, swordsmanship requires you to step into melee and employ the correct stances while magic is comparably point and click as far as how most spells operate.
