What if Warhammer 40k got a yu gi oh style anime?(something that takes place in modern times for some reason but involves the use of actual miniatures that somehow connect to the 40k verse)
What army would the spiky haired goggle boy character play? Who would his rival play?
What would be the overarching plot?

What army would the spiky haired goggle boy character play?
OC Space marine chapter or Ultramarines
Who would his rival play?
OC Chaos space marines or Black Legion
What would be the overarching plot?
Huge ass tournament is happening. Like months long in length and the Models come alive sometimes.
>>54156599
MC would play Space Marines, probably ultramarines because Flagship, ultimately using how flexible Marines can be to beat out most opponents with clever maneuvers and bullshit lucky rolls.
If the Rival was a classic Kaiba-alike he'd play something that's big and hits really hard. So probably Imperial Knights supported by the Guard.
Of course this also foreshadows that they will eventually team up.
If the rival ISN'T a Kaiba-alike then he'd probably play Tau considering they're one of the few races who've smashed the Ultramarines, giving us a character who can function on the same tactical level as the MC, but likely lacking the same levels of luck with the dice.
The story would progress for a time with MC beating various monster of the week type opponents who represent different Xenos factions before eventually falling into a plot against a cabal of cultists who are trying to channel the powers of the warp into our world through the wargame.

nha the oopnent has to be iconic, and it has to be straight better then the MC, chaos marines work, with chaos marines reworked to be straight better marines, but the main character beats them with strategy and faith or some bullshit like that. If we want to preserve the underdog factor which is often done for the MC, guard would work too.

>decent recasters
Enjoy your mold slips, bubbles, and cancer.
How could normal Late Medieval/Early Modern soldiers (European or Asian) pragmatically counter or defeat wizards on the battlefield? Casters can toss fireballs, shoot lightning, levitate boulders, raise the dead, heal themselves, and so on. What can regular humans do against that?
Bonus points: Think of methods that don't involve assassinations out of battle, long-range artillery bombardment, or infecting wizards with anthrax, smallpox, or bubonic plague

This is the part where you define what your mages can do, according to what setting, how powerful they are (which depends on setting)...
Someone post that "depends on so many factors" picture, please?
>>54153413
This discussion is irrelevant until we know what specific type of wizard from what specific setting you are talking about.
Depending on your response, the answer to your question lies somewhere between "almost effortlessly" and "they can't."
>martials are bound by human limits
>wizards are bound by what I say
hmmm I wonder
YOU decide the weaknesses wizards have in your game, anon. There are not that many fantasy settings I can think of where a wizard is utterly unmatchable vs. a warrior of sufficient skill, so if you decide to make it that way that's YOUR decision. Nobody else has to be accountable for it.
Why are so wizards anarchistic in spirit?
>>54153101
>so wizard
Is that a wizard who just shrugs and says "So?" whenever you question his magic?
>>54153101
Wizards, anarchism and spirit are spooks.why are so and in, also spooks.
>>54153101
They are generally quite independant from normal society and manipulating reality itself has strange effects on their worldview.
It's that time again.

My players are set to find a trove of artefacts stashed by a noble next session. What are some cool or unusual things that could be there? System is pathfinder.

How powerful do you want the artifacts to be? I mean there are so many ideas for artifacts. Specialized weapons, Magical books, runic portals, bags of infinite holding, what are you looking for?

Whenever Elric of Melnibone is statted for D&D, his alignment is given as Chaotic Evil. But the more I read the stories the more I get the impression of a honestly pretty okay guy constantly put in difficult situations. He doesn't always solve them in the best possible way, but he tries his best and angsts a lot when it doesn't work that great.
What kind of a Chaotic Evil asshole would ever bother to angst about anything?
He's Chaotic Good, Neutral at the very worst.

>Remains of ships and ruined buildings litter the horizon, overgrown with vines and moss.
>Wandering knights and scavengers earn their fortune by collecting ancient technology and scrap by delving into the dangerous derelicts.
>If they're lucky, they might even be able to find a magic core or two.
>>54147564
What are the enemies?
I propose mutated people and animals, "magic" monsters (e.g. holograms, robots, psionics) and maybe aliens.
>>54147606
>Fairies are AI's that project small holograms
>Golems are robots still guarding their ships
>Dragons are war ships that have activated on their own
>>54147564
> Expeditions are sometimes sent into the Underworld where Met'ah may be found. This magic substance can change form for those who have been gifted the ability to Speak.
> The Underworld is the home of Children of Eiyai. He is a vengeful god and his children guard the Underworld fiercely. Many of his children are formed as monsterous versions of animals found in the wilds but have strange hides and steel bones. Though they are hard to kill, the Eiyai spawn are valuable for this alone but they often also contain met'ah and may contain a small core.
