I've got a fantasy game coming up soon and the majority of the next story arc will take place in the settings largest city.

I'm wanting some advice on random encounters the group could find there.
I know there's always the usual alley of thugs or giant rats in the sewers I could do but I thought I'd ask what other gms have done or wanted to try doing

City creatures are weird because they always beg the question "why hasn't this been dealt with already?"

However if you keep things in contained locations that have weird conditions you should be fine.

A minotaur that roams about a wealthy district at night, for example. After all, what decent person would be out so late?
>>
>>54647844
>why hasn't this been dealt with already?

Yeah this is probably one of the bigger problems with that sort of area. You have to actively find a reason for the creatures to show up, anything more troublesome than pests begs the question of why are they still here?

Still catacombs underneath can be roaming with critters and the local guilds may not give two shits about them until they burrow into a basement or something.

Flying creatures that come and go could be a thing as well as beasts that roam the waters near the ports. Or it could simply be a matter of the local city watch only deals with what they perceive as actual threats not vermin and pests.

Do city crossbreeds.

The blink dogs have been mingling with the strays.

The zoo tried to keep a displacer beast. but it ran away, mated with some of the bigger stray cats.

Cranium rats are everywhere.

You don't even want to think about what the greenskins are doing.

You ever run a Metal Gear campaign, /tg/? Was playing MGSV recently and it reminded me of my love for the series and its quirks. There's something to be said for the over the top tone of MGS where everything is played completely seriously and/or explained somehow no matter how over-the-top it is.

Running something similar right now. The campy nature of the series helps with the inevitable quirkiness pen and papers have. Gurps is a solid system for MGS stuff.
>>
I thought about it, but then I realized I have to think up a whole bunch of political revolutionary talk. I have trouble trying to think of RP dialogue of that nature without going into Deus Ex/redpill territory.

Are there any sourcebooks about Knight Errant procedures and "company culture"? Im writing up a few stories about the knight-errant investigation into my runners.

There might be something in one of the books about the corporations, otherwise what I'd do is use some CP2020 sourcebooks to get a basis, then Shadowrun-ify and tech-update them. Protect and Serve mixed with the Arasaka section of Corpbook 1 (I think), probably.

So, /srg/, just finished a sidequest session, where all that needed to be done was a small smuggling run to increase my Contact's Connection.

Wound up getting shot at by sorority themed chicks, ran a semi off the road, all while I had to beat the clock and make it to my date with my gf on time.

Then the elf decided to fuck with my date, seduced my my girlfriend and they both wound up getting pregnant by my orc

Look, i don't care if it's sapient, that's still literally bestiality and as much as that hook is "interesting", it's something i'm wary of inserting into campaign.

Besides, any unconventional romance already serves that niche pretty well and without uneasy details.

Someone hold me, I am seething in anger. I got back my riches and slew the adventurers, but I still feel absolutely pissed. Do I have to put up signs or something? Why can't I just be allowed to go and do whatever without some group of assholes robbing me?

Very polarizing, but has some cool things; fully open trading where you can negotiate for ANYTHING is awesome. Definitely one to playtest before buying though, because some people just absolutely hate it
>>
>>54611162
It is one of my favourite games. If you like haggling, profiteering and arguing over exploitation it's good, and if you like discussing loyalties (one player might be the separatist) it's great. It also has a ton of replayability in that the various evolution cards change each game considerably

Consider looking into the War and Peace expansion, it adds a bunch of cards that mess with other players directly, if you're into that sort of thing.

Bear in mind that it is also one of those games that change considerably depending on the people who play it. I've heard that for some people the separatist always wins, while for my group that has never been a problem

Cheerful, roustabout Cleric of Nike and her polymorphed ferret Wizard cohort. The ferret did her thinking for her, while she provided the killing and raising the dead.

One time, instead of casting Air Walk to catch up to a magical juggernaut, she had the ferret fling her via Telekinesis into it. She then bludgeoned it to death. With a greatsword. Because it wasn't adamantine and I didn't want to do the Power Attack pickaxe gimmick.

It probably helped I was shitfaced for most sessions.

>Moulder here

I need some help-help, I think my two biggest rivals are planning to kill each other with assination attempts and I need to have both their subordinates kill-kill each other off instead of one of them getting offed before their usefulness runs out-out.

The confrontation started over some water tower-tower that we looted from the filthy dwarf-things. The skyre one wants-wants to convert it into a boiler and the pestilence one wants to use it as a cauldron for bath-baths. How can I resolve the issue and keep both alive-alive for the time being?

How would a vampire suck blood? Do they have muscles in hollow teeth or something or do they just bite a hole in someone and just guzzle what blood and flesh comes out?

>>
Scrape and lick friend, scrape and lick.
>>
>>54665786
It depends. Neck vessels bleed like crazy. The Vampire could also control the flow by choosing a vein vs an artery. Sharp canines puncture the vessel of choice and you don't even really need to suck, they'll pour blood right into your mouth.

Then when you are done (or you've exsanguinated your victim) you go about your day. I think in V:tM they were able to magically "lick" the wound to heal it.
>>
>>54665786
a: The magic that makes them also draws the blood for them, and it's absorbed thusly
b: They see and understand circulatory systems after turning, letting that do the work
