"Behold, the Eternal Shitpost" Edition
For all your questions on Dark Heresy (1st and 2nd Editions), Rogue Trader, Deathwatch, Black Crusade, and Only War.
Not the wargame, not Chapter Master, not Space Hulk. Inquisitor is okay, but not many people know about it.
Not sure between starting Dark Heresy 1e and 2e? Pick 2e.
>Why did FFG lose the 40k RPG License?
Because they were bought by Asmodee and that caused some sort of licensing conflict.
>Will GW make their own 40k RPGs now?
Probably not. But if they do it will likely be worse than you could possibly imagine.

We talk about inquisitors and characters a lot. Any locations or time periods you'd like to visit in your games? Perhaps a specific location you're planning on unleashing or preparing to explore? Let's hear it.
>>>52362162
I totally agree with this, it really works in the sense that "We are the Inquisition, stand aside pleb cause I have cooler friends than you", but I've had problems with players when they have to roll as trivial shit and still lose. Like they can't even pick up basic shit as a cup of noodles or similar.
>>52365014
Would noodles be abundant or average privisions? Did any have commerce? Was anybody an administratum background?
>>52365361
At the time, I think I put it at either abundant of trivial, no one had commerce and no administratum, and besides it was a terrible roll of like 80+ something. But still.
powerlisting.wikia.com/wiki/Special:Random
It's that time again.
>Roll two thematic powers (similar powers or powers that can't be used without the other)
>Re-roll godly or otherworldly powers that are overpowered because c'mon
>Post whether you're a hero, a villian, or something in-between
>And if you guys really want to, roll a 1d100 to determine how strong/competent you are.
The setting this time around is Florida. Good luck.

Professional Edition
Is your runner a professional? Does he look sharp and act sharper? Or does he not care about The Rules?
>>52364445
I might play one next. I'm trying to decide between a paranoid professional that got backstabbed and so fled to where ever the next campaign is, or a chromed out, drugged up ex go-gang leaderThe latter does sound more fun though
What do you think the japanese gameshows are like in shadowrun?
>>52364445
My most recent character
(game disbanded because a player refused to roll up a new character after his fourth one died, we were about 6 sessions in and we decided we were better off just calling it quits with only 2 players without him)
was a consummate professional. In game, he had been the face of several groups, though had ended up profiting heavily off of them before skipping town to start up a new life under a new alias.
What's up, /tg/?
Care to cook up some Heroes and explore the Astral Sea in Dungeons the Dragoning 40000 7th Edition?
I've been rereading the books lately and falling in love with it again.
Anyone around here actually have a chance to play it? Or even make some characters?
I'm in a game currently using the setting, but we ended up abandoning the system. It's fun, but for the style of game we prefer it didn't work quite well, especially with the design decisions to lower the power level a bit.
Still, the setting is always a delightful clusterfuck of everything and our GM has showed no intention to stop, cramming in as many references as he possibly can while at the same time seamlessly crafting them into the universe to ensure that everything still feels coherent and makes sense.
>>52363839
I do like the setting but I've been kicking it around and it seems like mortals are incapable of harming each other in melee due to needing at least two dice to get past each other's static defense.
What kind of Crystal Spheres would you visit in a campaign?

A thread dedicated to discussion and feedback of games and homebrews made by /tg/ regarding anything from minor elements to entire systems, as well as inviting people to playtest your games online. While the thread's main focus is mechanics, you're always welcome to share tidbits about your setting.
Try to keep discussion as civilized as possible, avoid non-constructive criticism, and try not to drop your entire PDF unless you're asking for specifics, it's near completion or you're asked to.

Status: Revived
I was once active in these threads, but eventually gave up on my home brew.
Now that I'm stuck on long boring shifts with nothing to do I've begun working again. Got googledoc on my phone, transferred the info from my computer to the cloud, and started work.
Should one avoid using a roll mechanic that requires infinite summation to calculate the probability of a positive outcome?
>>52354731
I'm not sure what you mean by 'infinite summation' but there's a sweet spot with RNG between a moment's suspense as everyone calculates if the results mean success or failure, and breaking out the scientific calculator and a notepad to perform the equations necessary to determine if the results mean success or failure. Try and hit that sweet spot. If you want it to be fun, it should be a calculation the average person can do in their head in a few seconds.
So I'm creating a tick-based combat system and therefore I need to make an exhaustive list of possible combat actions that someone might wish to take and assign tick-costs to them. However, I'm not entirely certain I have covered all possible actions one might conceive of, so I come to /tg/ for assistance. Bear in mind the overall setting is a sort of high-ish fantasy cosmology which has reached a post-industrial/pre-modern technology level (though a great deal of the world still lags behind in a sort of medieval/renaissance era). Do you think this list looks complete to you? Anyway, the list is as follows;
>Melee attacks
>Grapple/wrestle (include tackles/charges/rushes)
>Shoot a bow
>Shoot a crossbow
>Load a crossbow
>Load flint/match/wheel/caplock pistol
>Fire pistol
>Load musket/rifle
>Fire musket/rifle
>Load caplock revolver
>Fire caplock revolver
>Throw something
>Operate siege machinery/weapon emplacements
>Mount a horse/creature
>Operate/Start a vehicle (train, boat etc.)
>Patch a wound/Stabilise a fallen ally
>Drag a body/heavy object
>Push a heavy object
>Tie/Untie knots
>Pick a lock/Lock a door
>Smash/kick down a door
>Open a door
>Use a lever/button/etc.
>Place a trap
>Disarm a trap
>Sprint/run/move
>Shout a short phrase
>Extended speech
>Cast a spell
>Pray for divine intervention
>Perform a magical ritual
>Drink a potion/Apply lotions/tinctures etc.
>Climb up/down something
And I think that's all I've got. Any additional ideas would be welcome as I'd prefer to avoid running into missing thongs in the playtest phase. Also do you think any of these need to be subdivided into different speeds? If so, why?
Oh I guess I forgot to include some other actions which are continuous like holding a defensive posture but i don't want to assign a fixed cost to such a thing obviously.
This is just supposed to be a list of plausible combat actions by the way, not necessarily ones that are likely or common. I'm just trying to cover all bases here so don't be deterred from adding something unusual to this list. If you can justify how it would be done in combat then I'm adding it to the list.
The more you try to model within the limits of human capability, the more you must sacrifice either speed or realism.
I think it is better to have fewer, more general actions.

What do you think about artificer, gunsmith artificer in particular? Are you fine with guns appearing in every official setting, like dragonborn and tieflings did?
First for fuck PAM Paladins.
They're boring with how frequently they turn up; go wield some swords already, fags.
>>52329983
I'm fine with them. Don't care about official settings. If I want a setting without guns, I will make one for use in home games. If I want a setting with guns, I will also make one for home games.
>>52329983
Sure, guns are funs.
Lost all of my character art, looking to rebuild the folder.
I'd prefer lower-fantasy material if you have it, though it doesn't have to be "realistic" if that makes sense.
I'll post a few that I grabbed off of backup to get the thread going.
