Basically, it takes the best traits of the melta and flamer to create a terrifying new weapon of fiery destruction
Template S8 AP1 Assault 1 Melta Torrent
You roll the melta die if the template is 6" or less away from firer, since torrent is 12"
>>52362694
The problem is that flamers and meltas don't actually work on the same in-universe principles.
Meltas might be radiation-guns, or they may be heat guns turned up to MAXIMUM FUCK, or they may be un-contained plasma weapons that lose coherency quite quickly.
What you are looking for is something that is basically armor-eating Phosphex.
>>52362694
You know what I find surprising that is missing? Fire Swords. I mean literally there are few to no weapons that are just set alight with prometheum.
I was looking back in the archieves and saw a custom Soroitas chapter that specialized in CQC and it got me to thinking having spears and swords with super heated blades would be perfect.
And you can do it in one of two ways:
1. The cheap version where it's more like the fire sword from Fallout
2. The blade super-heats until it's red/white hot making a poor man's power sword of sorts next to whatever that special metal was introduce in DH.
>>52362826
I guess it could spray a substance that superheats everything nearby. Basically bring a flamer that shoots meltaguns in liquid form.

What sorts of idioms (profane or not) would people living in a desert campaign setting come up with? Looking to spice up my NPCs' speech patterns.
Also, general desert art thread, because I need more art for this campaign.
Probably a lot of things having to do with not having water, or having too much sun.
This assumes you mean traditional fantasy Arabia desert, and not Mongolia desert or something.
>>52360312
Saying someone is wet behind the ears is an acknowledgement of their wealth and status, not an insult.
>>52360426
Yeah, it's along the lines of not!1,001 Nights, with a bit of the Sahara thrown in for good measure. I had thought of a few like this, but a lot of them ended up being longer than one would expect to see peppered in conversation. More an epithet than an idiom, if that makes sense, like, "Sunflames scorch it/him/her/them" or, to emphasize sincerity, "May I be parched on the sands."
There are of course a few phrases I've been toying with that have to do with the deities of the setting, but I don't want everything to be of the mold, "By [god]'s [symbol associated with god]!"
>>52360462
Hahaha, that's pretty great.
How would you make a campaign where the big bad just wants to have friends?
Speaking with people drives them mad or kills them, but he wants to do it anyways for selfish reasons.
>>52360032
If you don't mind clichés. Make them the only one of something, trying to bring back or get back to that something except doing so requires a mini apocalypse.
Example.
Glory from Buffy. She wasn't really evil. Just a betrayed goddess from a different dimension cursed to live out a meaningless life on Earth. She only wanted to return to her world. Too bad that required ripping apart the fabric of reality.
>>52360032
They're trying to impress someone else with displays of power, hoping that people will be their friends.
its been close to a decade since i gamed, whats something enjoyable to get back into the hobby with?

Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition is pretty rad, FATE is also pretty good for crunch lite, fluff heavy story gaming!
Daily reminder, that you will never have an Eldar gf
Daily reminder that any notion of Eldar girlfriend, any fanfiction of Eldar x human and any depiction of very human looking Eldar with just some pointy ears is lore-breaking and you are not a fan of this faction if you enjoy these things.
Daily reminder that you will never have a gf, period.

t. commissar boredom
>Start playing in a game with a group of friends.
>One guy is the GM, running 5e.
>We all roll up characters and one of my backgrounds is that I have "a paramour from a port city" or some shit
>Another dude has a character with a child that he doesn't know
>One dude owes his life to a priest
>Last dude went the extra mile and made a family for his Folk Hero bard and even made up a detailed backstory for them.
>To make it easy, we all start off in a small little port village and we're about to set off towards another village to deliver supplies.
>After we're done, the GM describes a fireball raining down on our village.
>Session ends with the GM saying "and there were no survivors."
>Bard drops game
>Another guy is rerolling a murderhobo.
Is there something that I'm missing here? Why do so many GM's kill off companions from a PC's backstory? Most games already have flaws for you to take and yet GM's never use them against you as often as they murder-fuck a PC's family instead.
Why?
>Session ends with the GM saying "and there were no survivors."
At least the Master Plan prevailed.
>>52359183
Because it's a very easy (read: lazy) way to give all the characters a reason to hate whatever faction is intended to be the villainous one. Even if they took it back just one step and made it "are planning on killing companion from backstory" it would be substantially better, but nope, gotta kill 'em all. No social entanglements in this game, no sir.
>>52359224
I had a campaign start with the BBEG kidnapping our family members as part of some yearly tribute thing which turned out to be so he could feed them to an evil tree.
We saved them in time but then the deadline passed without anyone feeding the tree and it died, releasing the ACTUAL BBEG from his thousand year slumber.
We still questioned his choice of holding a lottery and grabbing up villagers for the sacrifice rather than using prisoners at least.
Have you ever given generic fantasy races in your setting a personal touch to differenciate them from the classic depiction?
for example:
in my current setting, elves are depicted with dreadlocks or mohawks, wear tattoos and tribal piercings, believe in shamanism and spiritualism. they are also one with nature on such a level, that they can get mutations like animal eyes (goat, eagle, frog, cat are the most likely ones), wear antlers, grow fur or even wood.
>>52358671
Halflings, elves, and giants are all the same species just at different points in their lives.
>>52358671
Oh yea totally. I even made a PDF for it for my players.
>>52358705
i've read everything and that sounds generic as hell.
How do I make the next meme game like Secret Hitler and make tens of thousands of dollars?
Being creative and putting time and effort towards a project, looking at existing games and learning from them, and by thinking for yourself and not createing threads just to shit on a free game. If you actually hoped someone could give you an easy answer, you're probably retarded, and I'm sorry for you.
>>52358187
I just wanted to make fun of Secret Hitler, because it was more successful as a result of marketing as opposed to mechanics.
>>52358203

Can a blank go sexy time with a psyker? What would their offspring be like?
>>52357515
>Not now, I have a migraine.
>EVERYTIME!
>>52357587
I imagine it would play out like this.
The psyker would prob not survive.
>>52357515
>Can a blank go sexy time with a psyker?
Sure, if they don't give a shit about the psyker's comfort.
>What would their offspring be like?
Most likely normal. Likely a very small chance of being a psyker or a blank.
So /tg/, I got magical realm'd tonight. I don't know how to deal with this. I can't go back to that game ever again.
>join a group a few months ago through a friend at work
>they seem pretty chill
>do my best to ignore awkward flirting shit for the sake of actually getting to play for once
>DM sends us to a dungeon chasing a group of Dopplegangers
>find out the dungeon is full of mimics and other abberations
>DM tells us that in this universe Mimics have a chemical that causes a strong euphoria that is absorbed through skin
>REDFLAGS.PNG
>I play safe for half the dungeon, never trust anything, send my chain pact familiar to touch all the things ahead of us for safety
>suddenly we get attacked by Dopplegangers
>I get pushed into another room
>it's a mimic
>DM has me make WIS saves to resist euphoria, I roll a 19 and fail anyway
>wtf how fucking strong are these fucks
>describes IN DETAIL how I feel pleasure instead of pain when the mimic bites off my legs
>okay fine I guess I'm dead
>nope, more saves
>I lose an arm and he makes me roll WIS again, fail and apparently orgasm from getting eaten
I got up and walked out with my bag. I didn't sign up for this magical realm, and that was way over the line. I can't ever go back there, no way am I playing a game with Creepo McVorefetish again.
So how was your friday?
>>52357305
Played tsuro for the first time and then bought a copy, also made burgers on a skillet and played some magic with my buddies.
God I love living around only sane people.
>>52357351
I wish I could find another group of sane players. I had a really good group for years out of college before my friend and her boyfriend moved out of the state and the others lost interest in tabletop. Now I'm stuck looking for local groups or online and, well, it's a crapshoot how well they can deal with women.
>>52357305
>Character has euphoria.
>DM says he's an edgy contrarian paladin, and fallen into Chaotic Neutral.
Wasted opportunity.
