How important is it to replace a torn air intake hose? How easy is it to replace? Can I just tape it up?
I just discovered I have a torn air intake hose on my 99 Honda Accord. What do?
Tape it up, see what happens. I think it should work.
>>17255088
Yeah I would tape it up good, but get it replaced when you can
It's a Honda so shouldn't be too bad to buy and replace yourself if you're up for it
my motorcycle would not idle with its torn, and its carbed.
Post your whip's key and guess what other's car or bike is from the key.
Guess mine.

Looks like a 90s ranger desu
Having overheating problems on my 12v cummins. when it's 80+ out it starts to climb in temp. It mostly climbs when I'm driving but cools down when I'm at or coming to a stop. The radiator boiled over a little today when it was 98F out, but not the reservoir. It got to 210. Installed a new radiator, water pump, tstat, and radiator cap in December. When it's below 80 the temp gauge will never go past 160. Pfa
Too lean? How are the injectors? Dirty as fuck probably. How old are yerrr spark plugz? faulty Diesel glow plugs can make them run hottttt
Injectors are new. They are much bigger than stock but egts are always below 900. No glow plugs in cummins. In hot weather such as today the engine gets warm fast. Within a 15min drive it got to 200. Fan clutch is good. Why is it climbing temp when I drive and cooling when I come to a stop?
idk, make the thermostat stay open? What tells the water pump to start pumping?
Clogged heater core and needs airflow?
What car is most likely to get me laid?

Like a body kit?
06 DC5 owner here. 99% sure my Throw out Bearing is bad. I haven't the tools to do it myself, how much is this gonna fuck my wallet? 1k-1.5k?
Alternatively, if I have never done a clutch before, is it advisable to jump in? I've only ever done smaller maintenence/repair items like suspension/axles.
>>17254893
How many miles? Might as well get whole new clutch kit. I'd say 4-500 for labor
>>17254893
If you don't know some of the tools you'd need to replace a clutch you probably don't know how to replace the clutch at all. Take it to a mechanic

Recently I've heard supercars mentioned as viable investments but I don't see how any of that shit makes sense.
They showed some guy with a fleet full of newish Aston Martins and Lamborghinis like those were supposed to hold their value. In reality, most of those are easily going to depreciate to somewhere between 1% and 5% of their value within 30-40 years. (I know, I'm pulling those numbers out my ass and they should be taken with a grain of salt). Only a small fraction of them will ever go up in value, that's if you're lucky enough to have guessed which models will eventually develop a cult following. And even that's hardly a guarantee.
>they showed me
who is they
>pulling numbers out of my ass
if you know you're full of shit then why would someone else listen to you

Only special snowflake limited production exotics appreciate. A 458 will be worth dick all if you stick it in a garage for 20 years, There's too many made. All your going to be left with is puddles of fluids on the floor as your seals rot away.
Is there anything to know about driving vehicles that have a lot of horsepower? I see all these fail videos where people just try to do a burnout or floor it and can't even keep it in a straight line. Are these people just that dumb or what? At what HP does a vehicle become difficult to drive if you are inexperienced? I have never driven anything with more than 275HP and I was thinking of buying a high 400HP range engine. Basically don't floor it or do any dumb shit and it's no different than anything else right?
>>17254542
Personally i've got no ide because im a poorfag nobody, but my guess would be dumbasses when it comes to wrecking pic related and similar, those cars are literally built to keep retards alive, modded high hp cars however, probably harder to handle

Why did the 2000s have no soul?
Compliance with CAFE and new safety standards so most cars were just like "fuck it let's just pass emissions and safety and be done"

Is there any reason not to? I want a normie-tier daily driver that'll still be fun five or even ten years from now.
Is this the daily Mazda advertisement?
It's so pretty. And it's really perfectly quick in town.
>>17253959
No, I'm trying to find a new daily and this seems like a good choice for my needs/wants
What's the best realistic (read middle class) car combination?
>DD: An old beater which you can abuse and don't mind scratching the paint and stuff (Example: an old Corolla, civic, etc)
>Weekend/track car: A newish sports car (ND, boxster, etc)
or
>DD: Newish car with all the modern amenities (New civic, crosstech, etc)
>Weekend/track car: A project car (probably from the 90's) with the sole function of fun driving (MR2, 86, miatas, etc)
Why not two shit heaps.
DD boring 30-50mpg POS car
Build cheap track car with lots of power that you wont cry over when you total it.
All the money saved can go into making the track car super fast. Just dont ever track a new car, its fucking retarded unless you have money to soend when you total it.
This really depends on you.
Personally I prefer #2.
>>17253925
Make ~50k. I have a 2009 mazdaspeed 3 as my daily and a 350z streetable track/weekend car. It works well because insurance on both is very cheap (135/month combined for full coverage) and aftermarket support for the z has gotten cheaper and more abundant over the years. Plus the ms3 has enough power to not feel pathetic while dd.
I hate the stigma that comes from "car guys" about the z but I normally don't have to deal with that because I went for a sleeper look. No stanced bullshit, crazy wrap or giant wing. Kinda hard to cover a giant intercooler though.
>Paying over 200k for a Japanese "super car"
Why are people stupid enough to buy a Japanese shitbox when Ferraris and Lamborghini, and Mclaren are much better?
Why are people so stupid to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars on "fast" shitboxes when they can buy a civic for 3k
inb4 muh vette working mans supercar 50k brah
>>17253802
Why are people so stupid to buy "shitty" 3k civics when a buss pass is 200$?
Should I get something pic related for my 80s scrapheap? I know they're pretty low tech but they look fucking ballin as hell. The green light headdeck and EQ just screams 80s.
My car is an 87 AW11 btw
>>17253764
You have a double din space in there?
And yeah, why not? Unless you can do the repairs yourself, make sure the seller has it tested and says it's working so when it doesn't you can drop a shit review and/or demand money back.
>>17253764
YES
and post pics of car
>>17253769
Yeah I don't have the older single din model so I can fit two.
80s styling makes my dick rock hard.

Hell/o/ I'm looking for some help here. Novice wrencher, hate me for trying to work on my car, etc.
So I'm doing a clutch job on my '98 200sx (sentra) with the 1.6l GA engine. I'm having a lot of trouble removing the cv axles. On the passenger side, the axle is already loose (pic related) but on the driver side its still firmly in there. I have a feeling it's something simple that my lack of experience is preventing me from figuring out. Do I have to remove the control arm from the hub?
I have the factory service manual for my car, and have read the "front axle / suspension" part that explains removal of the axle, but I think it expects somebody that's reading it to have more knowledge than I do.
One thing the manual says is that i should unbolt the hub from the strut tower at the end, which in the picture is clearly not the case. It's not very hard to put those bolts back in, so I can do it if necessary but if anyone has any experience with this car I'd appreciate any help I can get. This has been a project I thought I could tackle mostly solo and this is my first roadblock.
Hoping to get some good feedback (lol)
TLDR help me work on my car

Hit the end of the drive shaft with a big fucking hammer, it'll break free and pop out
Also, penetrating oil helps
>>17253194
I already hit it a couple times with a rubber mallet pretty damn hard, is there any danger of damaging the tranny if I keep smacking it?
I'm planning on replacing the axles anyway so I don't care about these ones but I just can't afford to fuck this up.
Also, does anyone have any idea how to get that nut out from under the cv boot? I already took out the cotter pin but the fucker won't budge, and I don't have any space to put a ratchet and a breaker bar with the boot in the way.
>>17253190
>novice wrencher
>has no idea how to do it
Should've paid a professional. Stick to brakes and oil. You're just going to fuck it up.
