My son is buying his first car, and wants my advice. However, I'm not much of a car guy, so I told him I'd ask some friends.
Budget is $2500, but ideally around $2000 so I can use the $500 for title and other such necessities.
Currently deciding between:
Used 2002 Hyundai Accent GL
$1,750

Engine: 1.6L I4 16V MPFI DOHC
OR
Used 2004 Chevrolet Classic Base

Like I said, sorry, not much of a car guy. If this is a stupid easy choice, please let me know.

Find an example with either a rebuilt engine or just extensive service records. NO PREVIOUS MODS. Some owners have done the IMS already, which I thought only plagued the 996 but I was wrong. I live in MA but I'm looking for an S in Arizona or some other state without rust. Limited access to the engine is about as tough as you think it'd be
My sweet spot is 2001 Boxster S, not red or silver, 70k-80k miles, IMS done, proof of 60k service done, $10k-$13k in the Midwest. Been looking for four months, with varying success (I'm in no rush)

I'm currently converting a 1991 SW20 MR2 to all wheel drive, using a cosworth MT75 gearbox, and running the diff upside down.
The engine I'll be using a nissan VQ35, which I will be destroking to 2litres for rally regulations, and will be using a single IHI Turbine.
I'm currently cutting the transmission tunnel, and my angle grinders a peice of shit, does anyone have any tips here? I've got through 6 of these fucking wafer thin discs so far, all they do is snap into peices.
>Pic related, its the tunnel I'm cutting out the car. Its where the fuel tank would normally be but I'll be running one single carbon fibre fuel cell in the passenger footwell.

>gt350's are hard to get and the current gen mustang has a disadvantage with it's chassis and it feels pretty big to maneuver (although i've only ever driven the ecoboost and gt)
i've narrowed my choices down to the porsche 996 gt3 and camaro zl1 1le
gt3's are considered the epitome of handling in an automobile but the new camaros drive so well that the ss 1le and regular zl1 have received high praise from motor trend
i'm just wondering if anyone on this board has been able to get behind the wheel of both a porsche 996 and a current gen camaro and could tell me their experiences and which car they prefer.....bonus points if you've driven the gt3 and zl1

Obviously the cars would be slow as fuck around corners compared to modern F1 and obviously they'd be less advanced, that's the point. But imagine how fast they could go on straights with no wings and how overtaking would be so much easier around corners with no wings making dirty air.
