Why is entry-level jazz the best unlike other genres?
>>74006954
>entry-level jazz
Not even close
Entry-level noise is usually better than the obscure stuff, although there's some great obscure stuff
It's not though. The best stuff in jazz is the really dense stuff like Ornette Coleman's Science Fiction or Henry Threadgill's In For A Penny, In For A Pound
What does /mu/ think about tool?
pseudo intellectual nu-metal. complete garbage.
pseudo intellectual nu-metal. pretty good.
pseudo intellectual nu-metal. fairly average
>meet a really cute girl last week
>we're randomly paired to work together on a university assignment
>professor put the groups together so I'm super relieved at not having to try and find someone to work with me
>girl is actually really cool
>while we're introducing ourselves hobbies come up
>she's telling me how she's into music, I ask her what she listens to
>she says she's listening to Beethoven and Schubert right now
>asks me what I'm listening to right now
>snidely chuckle to myself and ask her if she just started listening to classical
>she gives me this weird look like she wants to laugh but it also disgusted
>tell her the music is laughably dated and she should listen to some real music like Schaeffer, Stockhausen, Subotnick, Tudor, or Lopatin
>she says we should just get to work
>treats me cold as fuck now
Why do women get so mad when you call them on their entry level taste? I can't see how anyone with any semblance of interest in "classical" music could still seriously be listening to those artists in uni.
haha yeah
great thread btw :)
*posts some clueless ramblings about how OP should have handled it better, not realising that this is an adapted copypasta*

Hey, pretty sure this is the board to be looking for. There's a meme that's been floating around lately, saying Trap is gay, or something like that. But it seems to be a pretty prevalent saying across quite a few boards. I'm pretty sure it's in reference to trap music as a general hate of edm, but I don't get the reference. Is there something about trap that is inherently gay? The only reason I ask is because I'm about to go to a Trap-convention and I keep hearing it's gay, but I just don't understand the connection between the music and sexuality. Sorry, if this doesn't make sense, but I'm just worried about going to this music convention and being in over my head
in fact, trap music is inseparably intertwined with gay culture. one of the first and most influential trap OGs, baauer, is notorious for holding orgies with other trap artists, all of whom claim that the feeling and rhythm of anal intercourse is the main inspiration to their music.
this is a good post
hip hop in general is becoming increasingly homosexual, and edm is one of the more degenerate genres
what happens when you combine the two?
what's the best place to learn music theory?
>>74006368
you can only say things like this if you're a hip hop artist
>>74006368
>fuck the police
Who do you call when you're in danger though? Liberalism is a mental disorder.

J. S. Bach.
What genre('s community) prides itself in being "real" the most. (ex you listen to something and someone says that isnt "real" x so you dig deeper and still find people saying it "isnt real x")
pic unrelated
punk or metal
punk metal or hip hop
here's a pic I find funny

>What genre('s community) prides itself in being "real" the most.
bleep, no contest. try posting anything in /bleep/ with even a little bit of acclaim or crossover success and see what happens. ironically, for a general that prides itself on being "club oriented" they only listen to shit that has never seen the light of day in any club

Let soundcloud die. Stop using it. It's a broken system. The only function it has right now is being a launching platform for independent artists to gain enough traction to be integrated into the mainstream (corrupt) music industry. By doing this, these talented and authentic artists are being stripped of their creative identities and are whitewashed and compromised of what makes them unique and what made them worth listening to in the first place. Look at what happened to Chance, Mura Masa, and XXXtentacion and countless others who are currently undergoing this sterilization process.
We need a platform that bypasses the system altogether. The goal shouldn't be a platform that attempts to pander to the established music industry, it should be a form of monetization that renders the estbablished system obsolete by eliminating dependency on labels and large distribution networks. People should be apprehensive of large music organizations by their nature, and should gravitate towards smaller DIY efforts.
Can anyone offer some models or practices that would allow for this?
what if there was a youtube but for audio? people make channels with ads turned on, but the website gets partial ad revenue and the artists get the rest?
why wouldn't this work?
anyone have any better ideas?
can anyone explain why we even need record labels anymore please?
it seems that with the internet and independent artists and entrepreneurship we can do solo everything that a record label would have done before online marketing was a thing??
Soundcloud is BS. Just let people die. Natural Selection. It's like PEMDAS.
Is anybody looking forward to this?
I remember when The Suburbs and Reflektor were coming out. /mu/ were making threads every hour let alone day about them. All the indie blogs and sites were so hyped for it. Reflektor's hype train was ridiculous.
Nobody seems to care this time though. What's gone wrong? It's only their fifth album.
the singles are shit lol
>>74006510
this, theyve gone so far up their own asses its incredible
the album cover seriously looks like it would be an album by the killers
Is she our Cyndi Lauper /mu/?

Take out Submission, Busted and Blue, Let Me Out, Sex Murder Party, and We Got the Power and you have a 7/10
>>74006127
Busted & Blue and Let Me Out are two of the best songs on the album. You are wrong.
>>74006070
Take out sex murder party and it goes from 10/10 to an 11/10
What's some other happy music?
Pretty much the happiest thing I've ever heard
How do I stop being a cover artist? How do I incorporate my influences to make original music?
Just take a song that you like and change it enough that it sounds like a new song
>>74006026
"no"
What kind of music do you play OP?
>Listening to pic related
>Why won't that dumb cunt stop talking
Does she still talk in other albums?
>>74006002
>being sexist
ebin
>>74006029
It's not a "womyn in music?" thread. She just sounds annoying, if she was singing it would be ok, but damn was it gay when she was talking.
She's like "Hey mom, I'm on stage" Then the mom is like "Nuh uh, you can't make it dumb grill" It's dumb
>>74006096
Chuck D's cameo on Kool Thing is infinitely more cringeworthy and nothing than any of Kim's vocal work but I don't see you complaining about that.
