Origin is a good contender in its own right but people keep comparing it to 0079 (obviously). It's at least better than Thunderbolt.

IGLOO is good in the first season, but suffers from severe episodic myopia (considering it's an OVA, that's par for the course). The second season focusing on the newtype shinigami is just badly carried-out and not good at all.

Unicorn is fun but ultimately is just a part of a long stream of "Zeon rebelled and was put down, colonies don't deserve independence, not many changes from the status quo." If much of Gundam's expanded UC didn't exist, it'd have felt a little better in the end.

GBF season one was great as a stand-alone, but TRY ruins it by association since we know there's nothing good we're headed to in meta-hindsight after GBF ends. I personally found the first couple eps of TRY I watched an insensate asspull. The MC cares little for gunpla and gundam in general and martial arts "real robots" is jarringly against the tone of everybody else in the setting who made a robot that could actually fight in "war" without a magic wuxia wizard shooting super "fuck you I win" fighting magic at you.

I always took the MC in TRY and the Build Burning as an homage to G Gundam. Am I wrong on this? I mean the God Gundam was literally called the Burning Gundam in the english dub. Or is this somehow a coincidence that they share a name and a martial arts fighting style?

The fucking exposition narration bomb where suddenly everything gets better was a goddamn crime. Rustal making the switch from ruthless rebellion-smasher to practical leader would have been so fucking easy to write. His character arc was already there. I could practically taste the scene.

But no. Exposition drop and on-the-nose dialogue. Why the fuck is it so difficult for these writers to END THE FUCKING STORY PROPERLY.

no since 00 has a s2. IBO just ends with the main cast dying pretty much wasting our time.

s2 should have been all about Macky and his fight instead of the tekkadans.

In Gundam 00, you actually want the underdogs (Graham, Russian duo, Mr luck) to win, and they're likeable as fuck.

I don't think it hurt, but that's because Char's a sociopath and killing people doesn't bother him at all.

Char might have said he would want to follow through with his dad's ideals if you'd asked him during the OYW and you somehow got him to answer honestly. In practice, though, that was so far secondary to his goal of killing all the Zabis that I honestly doubt he even gave it a minute's thought.

Just a guy building cool diesel punk models and building a story around that to give them more character. When the first models where realesed, there wasnt so much plamo that where as detailed.
Not much different than what Makoto kobayashi does for exemple.

There isn't a shoujo anime, there is a shoujo manga though. Also an anime adaption that's less animated than the manga.
