Hi, I am gradually learning spanish and right now my interests in english literature are the writers of the 1500-1700s like Robert Burton, Donne, Laurence Sterne and I am much less knowledgeable with Spanish literature. I am asking for recs mostly or just general discussion.
Baltasar Gracian looks neat

Hay golpes en la vida, tan fuertes...yo no se!
Well, Cervantes is like their Shakespeare. When I took Spanish we had some "required reading" as the classes got more advanced too.
>>9200057
Lope de Vega
El Cantar de Mio Cid (if you're willing to learn Old Spanish)
Cervantes
Then learn French because Spanish lit is shit-tier
Does /lit/ like Elric of Melnibone?
>>9199823
Read a couple of them years ago and enjoyed them. Fun fantasy/adventure.
Hard to find good electronic copies.

he was particularly funny in "Elric at the End of Time".
>>9199870
>electronic copies.
Heresy.

I have written a draft (about 150,000 words) of a non-fiction work I intend to publish. I wrote it all in the space of three months.
Is it stupid to have done this? Is it okay to have started with a rough draft?
How do I go about cleaning this all up and whom do I contact to do this? Do I send the draft to any publisher?
>>9199796
>non fiction
>takes place over 3 months
Why would anyone want to read that
>>9199814
What?
>>9199796
care to tell us a little more? non-fiction, on what subject? 150,000 words in three months is kind of rapid, unless you're tweaking.
Any tips on starting this Goliath?(Have already read one day in the life of Ivan)
First you have to open the book Anon
It's really not that big of a book desu.
Sort yourself out first
Daily reminder that reading translations and not studying languages is for plebs. How's your Latin, Greek and Hebrew lit?

>He called Greek a single language without specification

Don't bump shit threads you dumbass.

Attic/Koine Greek are far more similar than most people think.
They are even very similar to modern Greek aside from a few pronunciation changes and dropped verb forms. It's not anything like comparing Italian to Medieval Latin even.
Nobody has ever worked a 9-5 job and made it as an artist. If you're trying this, give up your job or give up your dream.
hey but what about Kafka.
>>9199477
Barely counts. Died without any recognition and didn't finish dick
>>9199457
well you're forgetting about every professor who has published fiction ever. But we won't count that because we'll assume you will be stubborn and rigid.

Who is America's foremost fart stylist?
There's this guy I know named chuckie, he used to be like 500 pounds, but he had a stroke and a bunch of health programs, and I think they removed his stomach and a lot of intestines. He's also an alcoholic and drinks at least a case a day. Man, when this guy blasts one...it can knock one of your senses out. It's no joke. Look him up sometime.
Get a whiff of this action.
Name a better novel.
I dare you.

What does /lit/ think of Werner Herzog?
He wrote a pretty good book once.
>>9193279
I really liked Of Walking in Ice. He's just such an interesting and inspiring human being, it was interesting seeing the way he thinks
>tfw Werner Herzog will never walk from Munich to Paris in a half-symbolic gesture to save you from your sickness
>>9193270
He's pretty spectacular, I can't think of anyone who matches the consistently high quality of his documentaries
>enjoy a book
>read more about the artist
>find out they are communist/socialist
>people contradicting my completely wrong point of view
the author is dead anyway, read what you want into it
>>9204631
I don;t care what the authors politics are if its a good book
that being said, lots of commie authors feel the need to make their socialism the main theme
