Hiroshimoot said we could have a thread disucssing the board, so here's that
Why can't the mods delete the fucking philosophy threads that cover over half of /lit/? Move them to /his/. This is retarded.
Then there's shit like the "whats your college" thread. Why is that still here?
Do we even have mods on this board?
Are you on your period or something?
Do u really want us to end up like /a/
How do I permanently stop reading at the snails pace of my inner voice? Every time I think I got rid of it it slips back on eventually. Frustrates the shit out of me.
with hegel there's no other choice than speedreading or one gets confused, so thats where i would train it.
Stop thinking about it you fucking idiot, of course it will never go away if you keep thinking about it and starting shitty threads about stuff you could totally figure out by yourself or using Google if you are THAT retarded. Here is my tip, when you start reading, get into every single word, try to imagine all the posible meaning and images that every word could imply. That why you will start diving deeper and deeper into the book and you will start reading at the perfect speed and at the same time comprehend what you are reading. Thank me later, brainlet.

Sounds like solid advice, I'll give it a go
thanks manlet
where did romantics stand politically, /lit/?
Why does it matter?
depends. but probably eco fascism
>>9403006
i find the whole thing very contradictory
a movement defined by emotion, passion, and care for each individual human's feelings,
that is nationalistic and like you said, most likely fascist when applied to political ideology
am i missing something or do the two not go hand in hand
How good is this actually? I've been thinking of reading it
Just read. It reads cheesy now, but that's because so much made cliche originated in that book.
Plot is pulp but it gets beautiful at the end.
Essential Nick Land-core
Pretty boring, maybe it was good for its time.
Cyberpunk just doesn't work as well in books as it does in comics/movies.
Thoughts on this poem I wrote?

The song is "One For Daddy-O" recorded by Cannonball Adderly btw

If you want me to read it, paste a written version of it here. I don't want to critique a recording of someone reciting a poem.
Is there a go to writing software that everyone uses? Or is word standard?
>>9402908
>Word
>Doesn't use LibreOffice yet
kys
most people find their own process, including their own preferences for software.
I plan and write a first draft with pen +paper...then use https://writeapp.co/ to write and edit my final draft

Hey /lit/ sorry if this is a bit of a basic question, but my college is pretty shite and im feeling a bit stranded with my 10-12k thesis, any tips?
>Develop an argument
>split argument into three chapters at 3000 words each
>split each chapter into 10 pages
>plan 2 paragraphs each on 10 pages and structure organically.
>Get the content down as soon as possible, even if its shit and in a draft form
>spend the remaining time editing and refining until its perfect.
>write intro and conclusion last.
>Source in full as you go
>develop a cocaine habit
>Kill yourself as its pointless anyway.
>Get an A.
What are my qualifications? I'm a stranger on the internet.
Here is the University of Toronto's guide to thesis writing: http://advice.writing.utoronto.ca/planning/thesis-statements/
No general advice will be very useful. Every institution, field, level etc. is different and you'll want to tailor any thesis to its readers specifically. The best advice would be to work closely with whoever is going to be reading it. If you can't do that, for some reason, you should still be working closely with SOMEONE who can advise you and with whom you get along, and getting feedback.
Just finished pic related in one sitting, did I like it?
Also, it basically just felt like I was reading the kids version of Gravitys Rainbow. Anybody else get that vibe?
>>9402603
more like kid's catch-22 which is kid's gravity's rainbow
I have a pretentious friend who says this book is a masterpiece and one of the greatest works of literature ever written

Vonnegut has his place. Not everything has to be experimental maximalism.
To those of you who write, do you see yourself as an Artist?
>>9402580
i don't consider the label important or meaningful. i make stuff i like, sometimes with people i like, and then get paid for it. who i am isn't important to me.
I see myself as an artist but I don't write.
I see myself as a failure. (poet)
Did Buddha suffered when the Shakya (his tribe) were destroyed?
Did even Buddha suffered sometimes, in the face of terrible events, even after his enlightenment?

Should obscenities (violence, sex) be embraced and described or only subtly implied? What style is better?
>>9402535
both, depending on the work. i prefer allusions to sexuality buried in text for those who wish to find it, but overt obscenity has its place. i'm still trying to weave an appreciation for pynchon into my psyche.
You're a fucking nigger. The historical problem of obscenity in "literature" (theatre plays) existed mostly thanks to style regulations by the noble class or church. Conservatives being anti-human trash, as usual.
>resurrect James Joyce as a character in your book for the sole purpose of taking the piss out of him
>book is later published with words of praise from Joyce on the cover
Now this is ascended shitposting
>write a novel
>publisher takes same name
>never noticed again
I didnt even like it desu
O'Nolan literally wrote shitpost letters to himself in the paper denigrating himself just so he have arguments and swap insults
yea he was a good shitposter
Would you date a girl who had never read a single book?
it is not a woman's place to read books.
if she had other redeeming values, sure.
>>9402492
No, we would have nothing to talk about
