I had a serious literary gf. It didn't end well. I slowly started to realize that she didn't really love literature in the same way that I do, or appreciate the same aspects of writing that I do.
I'd recommend her something genuinely good to read that I had just finished reading, so that we could discuss it, and she instead just read historical romance novels, or pretended to read even those, while browsing facebook on her kindle.
The /lit/ gf that you idealize doesn't exist outside of very rare cases that you will never meet. You may find a girl that likes reading, and claims to love classic literature, but I assure you that she will very rarely read actual classic literature.

These threads make me want to stop pursuing literature, though I suppose I have no idea what quality of men want a woman of no quality. It's shameful to be so malleable but it's really only natural.

It seems as difficult to find a male who is interested in reading as it is a female.

There's one girl I'm friends with, and I was completely infatuate with her until I found out that she has the most pleb tastes imaginable. Her favorite books are the hunger games (she hasn't even touched any classic literature), she only watches reality television, and she loves Amy Schumer.
All that considered, she's studying to be a doctor with me and she's not stupid. I don't understand why she enjoys such asinine trash. She'd be wife material if she'd just pick up a single hobby or try to get into anything intellectual.
