Thanks Buck Angel, this thread gave me the motivation to clean my saiga.

I had 2 (two) failures to feed in the last 300 rounds. One may have been a case that had extra brass around the neck, and the other may have been bolt override (short stroking the charging handle w/bolt hold open).

Next I'll load up ~120 rounds for a run-n-gun competition tomorrow.

You need a warning system, enough material in the doors and walls to give you time and force them to make noise, and you need an escape system. Go. Extra credit given for references to past workable or unworkable solutions to this problem.

You need a large amount land between the road (government owned land) and your house. Preferably your home will be on a hill.

Woods may backfire as it gives any force the ability to maneuver on your home without you seeing it. Those same woods may give you cover for your escape. Personal preference.

Yes, the Mini 14 can handle the higher pressure loads of 5.56 and chambers .223 just fine.
The Ruger website states the Mini 14 is chambered for both, can handle both.
If the gun manufacturer specifically states the gun is chambered for .223 only then DO NOT put 5.56 in it.
Any noguns want to argue about that?
Brass dimensions are slightly different.
Chamber dimensions are slightly different.
Pressures are different.
If you injure yourself with 5.56 when the manual clearly states, .223 only, then it is your dumb ass fault.

US, it is more satisfying to get more frequent promotions. It is a good moral booster to put more rungs on the ladder, even if it is the same height.

It boosts morale and keeps your enlisted in place because they have something to "aspire" to. Bear in mind that E-9s make less than an 20 something year old O-3.

Some people fall for it, most don't.

The only enlisted jobs that get enlisted ranks like E-8/E-9 at early ages are the SOF jobs. They are also the only E-8s/E-9s that actually know how to do their MOSs jobs.

As for myself, I'm halfway through the selection process for my police department of choice. Feels good to be making progress towards something I really want. I've got a month until the PT test, so I'm tryna eat clean and get fit again.
