SDM crew is heavily featured throughout all the Touhou works so they are hardly irrelevant and the game really isn't skippable or anything.
The plot of EoSD itself probably isn't all that relevant but the way I see it is that the dialogue give you an impression of how the first interactions between M and S and the EoSD crew were like and how it contrasts with later works. There is a lot of character development and without the happenings of EoSD these characters would lose a bit of depth. Either way, the relevancy of a game hardly diminishes the quality in and of itself.

Nothing can kill a Hourai immortal. Even if you travel back in time to before they drank the elixir, then disintegrate every molecule in their body, they'll still be alive. And that's because the Hourai elixir makes them an eternal and immutable aspect of the universe, like time itself.

The only thing I could ever imagine killing a Hourai immortal would be a total breakdown of the universe and the laws of physics (like a big crunch) but knowing Touhou, they'd probably survive that as well.

I don't consider myself too big a fan of this song, but it holds a special place in my heart for being the first Touhou song I heard that I found lived up to the hyped soundtracks. The first two stages of EoSD didn't give much of a good first impression. Same with Cirno herself, she was one of the first characters I grew to like even though I find many other characters more entertaining now.

It's going to be a "1 shot type per character", isn't it?

Why do you guys obsess over no other company as much as Type-Moon? Not over Key, not over Nitroplus, not even over Elf as much. Not Front Wing or Liar Soft or whatever. The only thing I've seen close is back when Illusion games were popular around here and maybe 07th Expansion, Littlewitch, or Aquaplus related games. What the fuck is so great about Type-Moon and the exactly 2(two) games anyone even cares about from them?

There is lot to that. It was the 1st ''real deal'' thing translated. Back then, no one expected TM turning into horrible normalfag-milking enterprise. Belive or not the credit of trust was huge. TM discussion was a thing and a contributor to board in general, and so the following persisted for quite some time.
Very few people cares about it nowdays outside of /a/ that "discovered'' TM trough anime and /v/ because FGO. There is small TM thread from time to time, but that just nostalgia acting up.
Oh, there was Melty Blood gameplay threads as well.

The ability to "create history" is the ability to write down text for others to inform themselves about the past. By taking that account as "historical truth" their worldview has changed to include that. However, just because something is taken as history doesn't mean it's entirely accurate or is unbiased. This is how ZUN views history in general and is something present here and there throughout the series.

Keine's ability is, as far as what is seen, a kind of illusion. By "writing" or "erasing" history she manipulates how people see the world in a more literal sense, so that what they experience depends on what is or isn't part of history. In Imperishable Night this was represented as the players not being able to perceive the Human Village, because she had erased the history of humans settling there. The caveat to her ability is that, like actual history, if you know the truth of the events, manipulating history doesn't affect what you know. So those like Yukari, who were already present during the period Keine fiddled with, were not affected.
