Africa has a rich history with Islam. I know we've been brainwashed into thinking all forms of cultural diffusion, inequality and imperialism is bad but in fact Africa benefited from Islam in a social, spiritual, economic and cultural sense.

Your first and primary mistake is believing that democracy is the same thing as liberty. The United States in its earlier forms was much more free then it is today, and yet it had extremely limited suffrage and only the House was directly elected by the people. The Senate was chosen by State Legislatures, the Supreme Court was appointed, and the States did [and still do] elect the President. And that 'democratic' government was [and to a lesser degree still is] extremely limited by codified institutions.

If anything democracy is a hindrance to liberty, especially if you have universal suffrage. Also all glory to Kaiser Reinhard.

Though it can be undeniably effective with a ruler of the calibre of Frederick the Great, in any monarchy for each Frederick there arises a dozen Commodus'. On top of that if the monarch does not wield ultimate authority over any parliamentary body that may exist to represent the popular will, then the momarch is but a figure head and the atrophy of the office will eventually become a destabilizing force in the state at large. Once again the issues inherent in centralizing authority to such a degree begin to appear...

you can "read" a book by just flipping pages and not comprehending anything

you can "watch" a movie by leaving it in the background while you're on your phone

you can only play a game by overcoming the challenges it presents you. a good game will constantly challenge you and therefore you will pay close attention to the plot and the themes will transfer to you

the exception to this is the video games that border on the cinematic like metal gear solid. in contrast, a game like ocarina of time doesn't have a cutscene longer than half a minute, so all plot advancement is predicated on user engagement

But ayway, I think the reason video games aren't taken seriously is because of the huge time investment they require. "Cultured" art is perceived to somehow improve the person consuming it and really activate their almonds. Video games, on the other hand, require far too much of the consumer's time and in the end they don't usually offer any more insight into life than movies or books.

Plus, video games are a huge collaborative effort and don't usually have the benefit of a singular vision like a book would. Even a movie is a more focused than a video game

That said, I still think video games are the most interesting development in the arts in a long time.

Yes, ancient Egypt had a population approaching 10 million, and invasions would never be more than a few thousand soldiers at a time, who would mostly move on to other places after their conquest was complete. That's nowhere near enough to have a dent in their population. For a comparative example, look at Ireland. Ireland has undergone numerous invasions, and settlements, with the most significant being 1/5th of their total population, and yet 88% of Irish people have little to no non-Irish admixture.
